  • Special news: Andhra Pradesh’s election winds water on the hopes of shrimp farmers of Gujarat

Special news: Andhra Pradesh’s election winds water on the hopes of shrimp farmers of Gujarat

Ahmedabad, 10 April (Hindustan). The shrimp farmers of Gujarat are facing one trouble after another. After the Corona epidemic, the business that somehow stood up has been hit once again. Assembly elections are due in Andhra Pradesh by the middle of next year and the government has reduced the power tariff for shrimp farmers there from Rs 4 to Rs 1.50. Worried about this, the shrimp farmers of Gujarat have also demanded the Gujarat government to reduce the electricity rate from Rs.8 to Rs.3 to Rs.4 per unit. Prawn growers have written a letter in this regard to the officials of the Fisheries Department, expressing their grief.

From shrimp production to exports, the concern of the shrimp producing farmers of Gujarat has increased. It is now challenging for brackish water shrimp farmers to stay competitive with costly seed, feed and expensive electricity. In Andhra Pradesh, which challenged Gujarat in shrimp production, the government there, while throwing the election dice, gave relief to the shrimp producing farmers. There the electricity rate was reduced from Rs 4 to Rs 1.50. Due to this, there has been a thunderbolt on the shrimp producers of South Gujarat including Gujarat.

The Gujarat Aquaculture Association, an organization of prawn producers, has written a letter to the authorities requesting it. The association says that the shrimp producers of Gujarat were already facing many challenges, now they will have to face a new challenge.

    this will be the effect

In 100 to 150 villages of South Gujarat, people there produce prawns. By plotting the barren land on the sea shore, the government has provided land to the prawn growers. About 1900 farmers are involved in shrimp production on 25000 acres of land in Gujarat. Due to this 1.5 lakh people got employment. Labor accounts for 10 percent of the shrimp production worth about Rs 2,000 crore. Means the workers get about 200 crore rupees. It is considered a major source of employment.

Producers say that 5 to 6 units are spent in producing one kg of shrimp. Due to this, while the cost to the farmers of Andhra Pradesh will be Rs 7 to 8, the farmers of Gujarat will have to spend Rs 35. Apart from this, their seeds and food are also cheap due to the hatchery being in Andhra Pradesh.

Our demand has been unheard for four-five years

Dr. Manoj Sharma of Gujarat Aquaculture Association Surat says that the barren land of Gujarat’s sea coast is spewing gold through shrimp production. Crores of rupees are exported annually, thousands of people have got employment. Due to the neglect of the government, we are going backward in the country. Our input cost is increasing because electricity is cheaper in Andhra. We are falling behind in the competition. For the last 4-5 years, we have been continuously drawing the attention of the government towards this, but we are not being listened to.

The surprising thing is that all these efforts are being done by Adani Foundation in remote areas. Pregnancy and motherhood are the most beautiful phases of a woman’s life, but they can also be difficult if not taken care of in time.

Wahidaben Jaimalbhai Vasava of Narmada district lost her first child to miscarriage when she was pregnant last year. “I had a painful miscarriage because of sickle cell anemia,” says Wahidaben. “When I found out I was pregnant, I was worried about the baby and my health.”

Many rural women like Waheedaben go through a similar ordeal. This concern is often faced by pregnant women. This results in a lack of awareness about what to do before, during and after childbirth. An outcome-oriented dialogue about this National Safe Motherhood Day is celebrated every year on 11th April in India.

The Fortune Suposhan – An initiative of Adani Wilmar and operated by Adani Foundation in the hinterland of India. The main objective of which is to make families aware about proper diet, nutrition, facilities of government schemes for pregnant women. Waheedaben shares “I am a mother of a 23-month-old healthy baby girl. I will be forever grateful to SuPoshan Sangini Anishaben Vasava for standing by me through my pregnancy. From regular counseling and follow-ups to stress reduction techniques, Anishaben Became Waheeda’s companion during her pregnancy.

Anishaben says, Wahidaben had sickle cell anemia and was losing a lot of weight. Hemoglobin levels had dropped to around 10%, which scared her husband and in-laws. He adds, Adani Foundation supported and counseled Waheedaben and her family during her second pregnancy. These include expert counselling, teaching the family how to cook nutritious meals and stress relief such as pranayama. Guidance was provided on mitigation techniques. When we saw Wahidaben’s child, our happiness knew no bounds.

Over the years many Suposhan Sanginis have been working tirelessly to provide antenatal and postnatal care to young mothers under this initiative. Providing guidance on postnatal care.

Every year more than 3 crore women become mothers in India, out of which more than 45,000 women die during childbirth every year. The global figures for maternal mortality are even higher and are a cause of great concern. Such programs being run for safe motherhood are a boon for many women.

  • Bank deposits of the people of Gujarat increased by 93841 crores in one year

Bank deposits of the people of Gujarat increased by 93841 crores in one year

Ahmedabad (Karnavati), 10 April (Hindustan Times). After having a serious impact on the country’s economic system during the Corona epidemic, now with its recovery, good news has started coming for the economic world. Especially in the state of Gujarat, there is news of the strength of the economy and leaving the old situation behind. According to the data received from all the banks of Gujarat, in the last one year, where the credit ratio of the state has increased, there has also been a jump in bank deposits.

Economic strength due to less expenditure, more inward

In December 2021, a total of Rs 9,30423 crore was deposited in the banks of Gujarat. Whereas last year in December-2022, this amount increased to Rs 10 lakh, 24 thousand, 264 crore. That is, in one year, the people of Gujarat deposited Rs 93841 crore more in various banks of the state. This additional amount is about 10 per cent.

This figure shows that the income of the people of Gujarat was more than the expenditure during this period, due to which the people deposited their savings. It is also believed to be a sign of strengthening the economic condition of the state. In December 2021, Gujarat’s banks gave loans (advances) worth Rs 722922 crore to the people of the state for various reasons including business-employment, schemes. Whereas in December 2022, these banks gave loans worth Rs 814532 crore to the people of Gujarat. This means that during one year the people of Gujarat got an additional loan of Rs 91590 crore. Which is about 13 percent.

    More loans taken for business-employment

Similarly, during one year from December 2021 to December 2022, on one hand, the people of Gujarat deposited Rs 1024264 crore in banks, while on the other hand, they also took a loan of Rs 814532 crore for business-employment and other reasons. That is, in front of an increase of about 10 percent in deposits, an increase of 12.67 percent in credit (loan advances) was recorded. It is clear from this that in December 2021, the credit deposit ratio of the banks of Gujarat was 77.70 percent. At the same time, in December 2022, this bank credit ratio became 79.52 percent. This means that during this period, 79.52 per cent credit (loan advance) was also taken against the bank deposits made by the people of Gujarat for various reasons.

This ratio is not the same in all the 33 districts of Gujarat. The credit deposit ratio is below 40 per cent in districts like Dang, Navsari, Anand and Porbandar in the state and this is also a matter of concern for the government. In these four districts, where bank savings are less, people have also taken less loans for business and employment.

  • Report – Leaked Pentagon documents show Mossad encouraged employees to join anti-Netanyahu protests

Report – Leaked Pentagon documents show Mossad encouraged employees to join anti-Netanyahu protests

Israel’s spy agency Mossad encouraged its staff and the general public to take part in massive protests against a judicial reform plan proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, leaked papers from the Pentagon have reportedly revealed, The Palestine Chronicle reports.

The memo did not contain the names of the Mossad leaders who allegedly made those calls, or any other details, according to the report.

On Sunday, Netanyahu’s office released a statement on behalf of Mossad, rejecting the reports and slamming the assessment as “mendacious and without any foundation whatsoever,” the report noted.

In its article the New York Times claimed, citing an unnamed defense official, that Mossad chief David Barnea did allow some of the agency’s junior staff to participate in protests, but only in an unofficial capacity, the report said.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been taking to the streets across Israel since January, after Netanyahu proposed legal changes that would allow parliament to override Supreme Court rulings by a simple majority, grant the government more power in appointing judges, and limit the ability of the top court to review legislation it deems “unreasonable.”

In late March, The Palestine Chronicle recalled, Netanyahu also fired defense minister Yoav Gallant for publicly challenging the overhaul. Gallant warned that the rift it caused in society was affecting the Israel military, and becoming “clear and immediate and tangible danger to the security of the state.”

A few days later, Netanyahu gave in to the pressure and suspended the reform, saying that a few weeks would be required to negotiate changes with the opposition, the report added.
