    SIT to investigate illegal lease of religious property of minorities in Jammu and Kashmir

    Jammu (IANS) | The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the illegal lease of temple properties in Kashmir. Officials said in a letter to all the 10 deputy commissioners of the Valley, they have been directed to probe the illegal lease of temple properties and the nexus involved.

    The Deputy Commissioner will submit an updated list of such properties within a week.

    The list should contain updated details of religious minority properties including temples, gurudwaras and others, officials said.

    Officials said that the instructions received from the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat in this regard have been communicated to all the Deputy Commissioners by the Divisional Commissioner (Kashmir).

    185 outsiders bought land in J&K: Nityanand Rai tells Rajya Sabha

    As many as 185 people from outside Jammu and Kashmir have bought land in the Union Territory in the last three years, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

    Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, however, said as per the information provided by Ladakh, no land has been bought by outsiders in the UT.

    “As per the information provided by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, a total of 185 people from outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have bought land in the UT during 2020, 2021 and 2022,” he said replying to a written question.

    While, one person bought land in 2020, 57 bought in 2021 and 127 in 2022, he said.

    The Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was abrogated on August 5, 2019, and the erstwhile state was bifurcated into two UTs — Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

    Following the Constitutional change in October 2020, the Union Home Ministry issued a notification stating that any Indian citizen can buy land, except agricultural, in municipal areas of Jammu and Kashmir without being a domicile.

    The minister said as per the information provided by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, a total of 1,559 Indian companies, including multinational companies, have made investments in the UT.

    However, no Indian companies, including multinational companies, have invested in UT of Ladakh during the last three years.

    Srinagar (IANS)| The father of his minor daughter was arrested on Monday for allegedly killing her in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Police sources said that a 36-year-old man has been arrested in Khurhama village for the murder of his daughter.

    The girl’s throat slit body was recovered from a shed near the family’s house on Wednesday.

    The relatives had told the police that on Wednesday evening their daughter had left home to buy something from a shop. When he did not return till late, the relatives informed the police about the matter.

    The girl’s father has been arrested, police said. Further investigation is on.

    2 hybrid terrorists arrested from Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian

    Srinagar: Two hybrid terrorists involved in a terror attack on a YouTuber journalist have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday, police said.

    As per a police official, an SIT was set up to probe the attack and during the course of investigation, on the basis of oral, circumstantial and technical evidences, a number of suspects were rounded up.

    During questioning, two suspects identified as Suhaib Reyaz and Anayat Ullah Iqbal, both residents of Saidapora Payeen, admitted their involvement in the terror attack.

    “It also came to fore that duo were working as hybrid terrorists of proscribed terror outfit TRF.

    “On their disclosure, the weapon of offence, viz a pistol along with its magazine and five pistol rounds besides an IED was recovered by a joint party of police and 44RR from the orchards of village Saidapora Payeen,” the official said.

    Further investigation is on.

    Srinagar (IANS)| Two hybrid terrorists involved in Friday’s terror attack on a YouTube journalist have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said. According to the police official, the SIT was formed to probe the attack and during the course of investigation several suspects were nabbed on the basis of oral, circumstantial and technical evidence. During interrogation, the two suspects, identified as Suhaib Riaz and Anayat Ullah Iqbal, residents of Saidapora Payeen, confessed to their involvement in the terror attack.

    It was also learned that both these banned terrorist organizations were working as hybrid terrorists of TRF, the official said. On his disclosure, the weapon used in the crime, a pistol with its magazine and IED besides five pistol rounds, has been recovered. Further investigation is on.

    Order to investigate fake PMO official’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir

    Jammu (IANS) | The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the movement of Kiran Patel, who impersonated as a ‘PMO officer’, in the union territory, an official said. Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner (Kashmir) has been appointed as the inquiry officer, who has been asked to submit his report within a week, in an order issued by the Home Department.

    The order states: The appointment of Vijay Kumar Bidhuri as Inquiry Officer is approved to inquire into various aspects relating to Kiron Patel’s visit to Kashmir and security arrangements during the last months.

    The inquiry officer shall identify the lapse on the part of the concerned officers and submit a detailed report within a week, the order said. Kiran Patel was on his third visit to the Kashmir Valley when he was arrested by the police on March 2 from a 5-star hotel in Srinagar.

    Police told the court: He had prima facie forged and forged certain documents including some visiting cards, on the basis of which he had impersonated not only an individual or a group but very high strata of the society, including high officials of the civil administration and police officers cheated.

    He managed to get Z-category security, bullet-proof vehicle and openly enjoyed the five-star protocol for quite some time, the police said. The documents, visiting card and cell phone of the accused person have been sent for FSL investigation, on the basis of which the alleged offense has been compounded, however the FSL investigation report has not been received by the investigating agency.

    The report also states that the investigation conducted so far reveals that the accused visited the most sensitive places and areas of the Kashmir Valley, which are highly guarded and extremely sensitive with respect to the present security scenario of Kashmir. This aspect of the case needs to be thoroughly investigated by the machinery as to how and for what motive and purpose the accused had gone to these places and areas.

    There is ample material available on file, which is indicative of the fact that while meeting different and varied people and holding meetings with high officials of civil administration and police, the accused received huge amount of money for various purposes areas that have not yet been investigated. No recovery has been made by the investigating agency so far, therefore a detailed and thorough investigation is required so far as this area of the case is concerned.

    The police report states, “A careful study of the case diary file and material available on record shows that during this entire period some more persons have been closely associated with the accused person, whose nexus with the accused person requires proper investigation.” Is.

    2 terrorist associates arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

    Srinagar: The police in Jammu and Kashmir along with security forces have arrested two terrorist associates linked with terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Sumlar area of Bandipora and recovered incriminating materials and two Chinese grenades from their possession, an official said on Saturday.

    “Acting on specific information regarding the movement of terrorist associates, the police along with Army (14RR) and CRPF at a checkpoint intercepted two suspected persons identified as Abrar Ahmad Wani a.k.a Abu Qadir and Danish Pervaiz, both residents of Sumlar in Bandipora,” a police officer said.

    “During checking, two Chinese grenades and other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody,” the official said.

    A case has been registered and further investigation initiated.

    Jammu, (IANS) | A factory exploded in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. One person died and six others were injured in the accident. According to media reports, the deceased has been identified as Mohan Lal. A source with knowledge of the matter said that all the injured have been admitted to the Government College Hospital in Jammu city for treatment.

    It is being ascertained whether the blaze took place in the boiler or was caused by some explosive material.

    New Delhi, (IANS) | Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday inaugurated Maa Sharda Devi Temple in Kupwara through video conferencing. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was also present on the occasion. Shah said on the occasion that with the establishment of peace after the abrogation of Article 370 with the efforts of PM Modi, the Valley and Jammu are once again returning to their old traditions, civilization and Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb.

    Amit Shah started his address by wishing the countrymen for the new year. He said that today on the occasion of New Year, the newly constructed temple of Maa Sharda has been opened for the devotees and this is an auspicious sign for the devotees from all over India. He said that today the inauguration of Maa Sharda’s temple is the beginning of a new era.

    The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that the architecture and construction of this temple has been done according to mythological scriptures under the aegis of Sharda Peeth. The idol of Sharda Maa, donated by the Sringeri Math, has been brought here on a journey since January 24 till it was installed here today. He said that the reconstruction of Maa Sharda’s temple in Kupwara is a necessary and important step towards the discovery of Sharda-civilization and promotion of Sharda-script.

    Amit Shah said that once upon a time Sharda Peeth was considered the center of knowledge in the Indian subcontinent, scholars from all over the country used to come here in search of scriptures and spiritual knowledge. He said that Sharda script is the original script of our Kashmir, which has also been named on the basis of mother’s name. This is one of the Mahashakti Peethas and according to beliefs, the right hand of Maa Sati fell here.

    The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that Sharda Peeth has been a historical center of India’s cultural, religious and educational heritage, Modi government will move in the direction of opening Sharda Peeth for devotees like Kartarpur Corridor. Shah said that in line with the commitment of social and economic transformation, the Modi government has taken initiatives in all areas of Jammu and Kashmir, including the revival of culture. Under this, systematic restoration and repair work is going on at 123 identified places, which include many temples and Sufi places. He said that in the first phase, 35 places were being renovated at a cost of Rs 65 crore.

    Amit Shah said that the zeal with which Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has worked to implement all the flagship schemes of Prime Minister Modi is praiseworthy. He said that Manoj Sinha has played a huge role in bringing industrial investment in Jammu and Kashmir.

    The State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday in connection with a terror-funding case, officials said.

    They said searches were conducted at multiple locations in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Kulgam districts.

    Those raided included relatives of Sarjan Barkati, who shot to fame during street protests in 2016, the officials said.

    They said the searches were carried out by the SIA sleuths, who were assisted by police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.
