    Janjgir-Champa. Lakhs of rupees were stolen from the house of a retired electricity worker in the district on late Monday night. The accused have made away with gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 1 lakh and goods worth Rs 3 lakh including cash of Rs 2 lakh. The case pertains to Naila Chowki area.

    According to the information, there is a house of retired electricity employee Maya Ram Gautam in Kapan village. On Monday night, the family members went to sleep in their respective rooms after having dinner. Between 1 to 1.30 am, unknown thieves entered the house by breaking the back door. The thieves also drank liquor while sitting in the hall, which the family members did not even know about. After this he locked all the rooms from outside.

    Maya Ram’s son Amir Singh Gautam was sleeping with his wife and children in the room where the almirah was kept. Here the thieves took out the cupboard kept in the room. Husband-wife and children sleeping in the room did not even get a clue of this. After this, the thieves also locked the door of that room from outside. The thieves fled from the spot with Rs 2 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewelery worth Rs one lakh kept in the cupboard.

    According to the information, the farmer Sadhu Ram Patel went to sleep with the family after having dinner at night. Meanwhile he forgot to lock the shutter in front of the house. Unidentified thieves took advantage of the shutters being open at night and entered inside the house. The accused opened two boxes kept in the room and fled away with Rs 50,000 in cash and jewelery worth more than Rs 50,000.

    On Tuesday, people saw 2 open boxes and scattered goods at some distance from the house of farmer Sadhu Ram Patel. After this he informed the farmer about this. The farmer reached the spot and identified both the boxes. The victim informed the Pamgarh police station about the theft of cash and jewelry. Police reached the spot and searched around the house. Police have registered a case against unknown thieves.
