    MP Achyuta Samanta in Kandhamal; MoU signed for renovation of 20 schools

    Phulbani: Founder of KIIT & KISS and MP Achyuta Samanta is in Kandhamal Parliamentarian constituency. Accompanied by the District Collector, he visited the Community Health Centre in Khajuripda and Blood Bank at District Head Quarter Hospital in Phulbani.

    Apart from visiting the health centres, Samanta also provided inputs from his own experience in building healthcare facilities and extended his best wishes.

    This apart, the Kandhamal MP also witnessed signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Power Finance Corporation Limited and Integrated Development Agency in Baliguda for the renovation and improvement of educational and allied infrastructures of 20 schools in Kandhamal district with a cost of Rs 6 Crore.

    Kandhamal District collector Ashish Ishwar Patil and other senior officials also were present during the MoU signing event.

    Man critical after miscreants open fire on him in Kandhamal

    Kandhamal: A man was critically injured after a miscreant opened fire on him in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. The incident has come to the fore from the Dakapala area under the Phulbani police limits of the district.

    The injured has been identified as Ajit Pradhan, a resident of Dakapala village.

    According to reports, Ajit was returning home at night 2 pm when a miscreant opened fire on him. Ajit got injured on his chest. He was first rushed to Phulbani Hospital but later he was shifted to Berhampur District Headquarters Hospital.

    The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, however past enmity is suspected.

    On being informed, police reached the spot and started to probe into the matter.

    Two women drown to death in Kandhamal

    Kandhamal: In a tragic incident, two women drowned to death in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. The incident has come to the fore from Lingagada Kutuluma village under G. Udayagiri police limit of the district.

    The two deceased were identified as Kurumani Pradhan and Suryakanti Pradhan, residents of Lingagada Kutumula village.

    According to sources, both of them went to take a bath in the nearby pond today morning. While entering into the pond, they slipped and they drowned into the pond.

    After receiving information about the incident, the fire service personnel reached the spot and fished out the bodies of the duo. The police of G. Udaygiri also reached the spot and started to probe into the matter.

    Further detailed reports related to the case are awaited.

    Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre here today issued an orange warning for rain accompanied by thunderstorms with lightning over 11 districts of Odisha.

    Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph with hailstorms very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh till tomorrow morning, informed the weatherman.

    Meanwhile, the people of the above-mentioned districts have been advised to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Harvesting of Rabi crops may be regulated judicially.

    Likewise, yellow warning for thunderstorms with lighting and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Nuapada till 8.30 AM tomorrow.

    Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
