Karnataka results, internal strife not easy for Telangana BJP

Hyderabad (IANS) | The BJP, which till a few weeks ago was the main challenger to the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, seems to have slipped to the third position in the election year here following infighting and its defeat in the Karnataka assembly elections.

Not long ago the saffron party was projecting itself as the only viable alternative to the BRS in the state and its leaders were hoping that Telangana would become their second gateway into the south after Karnataka.

However, today she finds herself batting on difficult wickets.

Political analysts say a shift towards the Congress after the party’s landslide victory in Karnataka, BRS rebels preferring the grand old party over the BJP and growing voices of discontent against the state leadership have landed the saffron party in trouble. .

With reports of some leaders joining the BJP and now planning to join the Congress, the morale of the party seems to be falling further.

With only four-five months left for the elections, the BJP faces a tough challenge in going into the fray as a united unit.

BJP MLA Eatala Rajender and former MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy are reportedly planning to quit the party and join the Congress.

It will be a big embarrassment for the BJP as Rajendra is heading the committee or panel that has been tasked with wooing leaders of other parties to join the saffron camp.

Chief Minister K. Rajendra quit the BRS in 2021 after he was dropped from the state cabinet by Chandrasekhar Rao. He had also given up his assembly seat, Huzurabad, and joined the BJP. In the by-election held the same year, Rajendra was re-elected with a large margin.

Raj Gopal Reddy, who was the Congress MLA from Munugode, followed in the footsteps of Rajendra. Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself came to Munugode to welcome the businessman-politician into the party. However, Raj Gopal Reddy failed to repeat Huzurabad in Munugode last year and the BRS wrested the seat.

Political analyst Palavai Raghavendra Reddy said, the BJP’s downfall had started after the defeat in Munugode. The party which was in aggressive mode started looking weak.

Now that the Congress has regained its lost ground, Raj Gopal Reddy seems keen to return to the party fold. His brother and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkata Reddy is also making efforts to ensure his return.

Both the leaders stayed away from the mass contact program organized by the BJP across the state on June 22 to reach out to 35 lakh households in a single day to highlight the achievements of the Modi government during the last nine years.

Both Rajender and Raj Gopal Reddy as well as some other leaders like former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who had quit the Congress to join the BJP, are unhappy with the working style of state unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

The BJP’s central leadership is worried about developments in Telangana, evident from the fact that both Rajendra and Raj Gopal Reddy have been called to Delhi, in what is seen as a last-ditch effort to persuade them to stay with the BJP .

However, Sanjay is trying to put up a strong face. When asked about the plans of some BJP leaders to join the Congress, he said, “If someone wants to board a sinking ship, we cannot stop him.”

In the BJP camp, infighting between different factions has been visible for several months.

The differences surfaced again last month when Rajendra and other leaders went to Khammam to meet former MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and former minister Jupalli Krishna Rao without informing Bandi Sanjay and other senior leaders to invite them to join the BJP. Can go

Since Srinivasa Reddy and Krishna Rao were recently suspended by the BRS for anti-party activities, Eatala and others held talks with them to persuade them to join the saffron party.

Rajendra later reveals that both the leaders tried to persuade him to join hands with them to oust the BRS from power.

Buoyed by its victory in the Karnataka elections, the Congress party seems to be overtaking the BJP in attracting rebels from other parties.

Political observers say that with the recent induction of leaders from BRS and other parties, the Congress party has started emerging as the main challenger to the BRS.

In the last few days, the Congress party has also been successful in wooing the rebel BRS leaders who earlier seemed to favor the BJP.

With Srinivasa Reddy and Krishna Rao almost making up their mind to join Congress, the Congress party seems to be getting great success.

This is not the first time that bitterness is being seen in the BJP camp. Recently, BJP MP Arvind Dharampuri, daughter of Chief Minister and BRS leader K. Bandi on Kavita came out in open against Sanjay’s alleged derogatory remarks. The Nizamabad MP had said that he did not agree with Bandi’s remarks.

It was a blow to the party as Arvind is a bitter critic of CM KCR and his family. he 201

Karnataka Govt Beckons Elon Musk, Terms State as India’s Investment Hub

BENGALURU: The Congress-led government of the Indian state of Karnataka has extended an invitation to business magnate Elon Musk, urging him to set up businesses in the southern state. Karnataka’s Minister of Commerce and Industries, Infrastructure MB Patil, declared on Twitter that he thought Karnataka was the “ideal destination” for Tesla to expand into India.

Patil highlighted the state’s potential and capabilities, stating, “If Tesla considers setting up a plant in India, Karnataka…is The Destination.” He emphasized that Karnataka, known for its progressiveness and thriving innovation and technology hub, is fully prepared to support Tesla and Elon Musk’s ventures, including Starlink, by providing the necessary facilities.

“As a progressive state and a thriving hub of innovation and technology, Karnataka stands ready to support and provide the necessary facilities for Tesla and other ventures of Elon Musk, including Starlink,” Mr. Patil wrote, tagging Mr. Musk’s Twitter handle.

Karnataka aims to position itself as a technology and manufacturing hub for the future, focusing on driving the state’s growth in technology and manufacturing 5.0 for the coming decades.

During his ongoing state visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the opportunity to meet with Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, as well as the chief of Twitter. Musk received an invitation from PM Modi, and he was urged to investigate business potential in India, notably in the quickly growing commercial space industry and electric vehicle mobility.

Following the meeting, Elon Musk expressed his enthusiasm for India’s future, stating that he sees more promise in India than any other large country in the world. He revealed tentative plans to visit India again next year, expressing gratitude to PM Modi for his support. Musk expressed confidence that Tesla would establish a presence in India “as soon as humanly possible” and hinted at a significant investment for the country in the near future.

Regarding the timeline for Tesla’s entry into India, Musk refrained from making premature announcements but hinted that the company could announce the location of its new factory by the end of 2023.

To a question on when Tesla will be in India, Mr. Musk said, “We don’t want to jump the gun with an announcement, but it’s quite likely that there will be a significant investment for India in the future.”

In addition to Tesla, Elon Musk also displayed interest in bringing his Starlink satellite-based internet services to India. Starlink, operated by Musk’s company SpaceX, offers internet connectivity via a constellation of satellites. India, recognizing the potential of the space sector, has opened its doors to private players, seeking to leverage their expertise and resources for further growth.

With the Karnataka government extending its invitation and Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to encourage investments in electric mobility and the space sector, India appears to be on the cusp of witnessing the entry of Tesla and Elon Musk’s ventures, potentially revolutionizing the country’s automotive and technology landscapes.

Karnataka CM meets Shah on rice issue, says he got assurance of help

Bengaluru (IANS) | Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured him to take up the issue of supply of rice from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) with the Union minister concerned. Speaking to reporters at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi, Siddaramaiah said that he had requested Amit Shah not to do politics regarding the supply of rice to the poor in Karnataka.

Siddaramaiah said, the matter of giving letter of supply of rice by FCI and canceling it the very next day was brought to his notice. Amit Shah has assured that he will talk to the minister concerned.

Siddaramaiah also said that the state has been provided with two battalions of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) and has been requested to provide two more.

The Chief Minister also discussed with Amit Shah how the policy of the Central Government is affecting the poor people and told Amit Shah that the policy of the Center is against the Food Security Act and will directly affect the poor.

Siddaramaiah had earlier alleged that the Center was playing politics with regard to the free rice distribution scheme.

Siddaramaiah had said, it was agreed to provide 2,08,425 metric tonnes of rice to Karnataka. But, he wrote a letter on June 13 saying that wheat and rice cannot be made available to the states under the Open Market Sales Scheme (OMSS). The government has taken a political decision of not giving rice only to defame the Congress government.

The Congress government of Karnataka is planning to provide 10 kg free rice to all BPL cardholder families under the Anna Bhagya scheme. It has announced the launch of the scheme on 1st July. However, due to non-availability of rice, the government is saying that the launch of the scheme will be delayed.

Central minister told Karnataka government, if you can’t give free rice, then leave power

Chikmagalur (IANS) | Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje has told the Congress government in Karnataka that it should either provide 10 kg of rice free of cost as promised during the elections or step down. Talking to reporters in Chikkamagaluru, Shobha Karandlaje on Wednesday said that they (Congress government) have to give a total of 15 kg free rice to the people. The central government already gives five kilograms of free rice.

He said, Congress leaders made false promises only to win the elections. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should withdraw his statements in this regard.

She questioned, women are asked for certificates for bus passes. Do I need a certificate to prove that I am a woman?

Fingers are pointed at the Prime Minister for free rice, funds, electricity and everything, he said. In such a situation, why have you (Congress) distributed guarantee cards to the people? Buy rice from farmers and distribute it among the people.

The Karnataka government has attacked the central government for denying the sale of rice to the Food Corporation of India (FCI). Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had alleged that the BJP was stealing the poor man’s food and trying to sabotage the Anna Bhagya scheme under which 10 kg of free rice would be distributed to each family member of BPL card holders.

A war of words has broken out between the BJP and the Congress on this issue. The Congress had staged a sit-in against the central government. The BJP also opposed it and some of its leaders were arrested and later released.

    By PTI

BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday gave a “compensation” cheque of Rs 25 lakh and announced jobs for the family members of six people who were killed in communal incidents.

The Chief Minister said he will make sure that no such ‘unnatural deaths’ take place in the state.

According to Siddaramaiah, Deepak Rao (Dakshina Kannada district) was killed on January 3, 2018; Masood (Dakshina Kannada district) on July 19, 2022; Mohammed Fazil (Dakshina Kannada) on July 28, 2022; Abdul Jalil (Dakshina Kannada) on December 24, 2022; Idrish Pasha (Mandya) on March 31, 2023; and Shamir (Gadag) on January 17, 2022 were the others killed in different incidents.
