AAP vs Centre: Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann meet KCR in Hyderabad

AAP supremo and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann met with BRS chief and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday.

Telangana transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, MLA Jeevan Reddy, and MLC Sheri Subash Reddy welcomed them at the airport.

The meeting gains significance due to the Delhi chief minister’s attempt to galvanise support from key political leaders across the country against the Ordinance passed by the Centre designating the Delhi Lt Governor as the administrator who will have the final say on the postings and transfer of all bureaucrats serving the Delhi government.

The Supreme Court had recently passed an order giving the Delhi government the power to make laws and post or transfer bureaucrats.

In a unanimous ruling, a five-judge Constitution bench of the apex court on May 11 stated that the Delhi government had legislative and executive powers over administrative services in the national capital.

On May 25, Kejriwal along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had called on Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar in Mumbai to enlist his support. The AAP leaders also had a separate meeting with Shiv Sena UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray.

Kejriwal was earlier in Kolkata to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She assured him that when the Narendra Modi government presents the bill in Parliament, Trinamool Congress will oppose it.

  • KCR hints at early elections

    KCR hints at early elections

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday hinted at the possibility of holding Assembly elections in October.

Addressing the plenary session of the BRS, KCR said the BJP was desperate as it feels that it was losing ground in the state. Hence it may decide to hold the polls in October. He said the focus of the party leaders and workers should be on winning 100-plus seats. In 2014, the pink party had won 63 and in 2018 it won 88.

KCR said the first file he would sign on Sunday after the inauguration of the new Secretariat building would be regarding the sanction of Rs 3 lakhs to the poor who have land and want to construct houses.

He told the party leaders to bury their hatchets, stop making claims about the party tickets openly and stay among the people. He said he has detailed reports about the performance of each and every MLA, his performance and popularity.

“Leaders should first come out of the comfort zone of their houses and work at the grassroot level so that the BRS would be in the driving seat for the third consecutive time,” the BRS chief said. Decision on who should get tickets would depend on their performance, he added.

KCR expressed his displeasure over the infighting at party’s Atmeeya Sammelans held across the state. Referring to the corrupt practices that had come to his notice in Adilabad and other districts in the implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme, he said he has a list of those who had taken kickbacks of Rs 3 lakh from the beneficiaries. If it was repeated either by the leaders or their followers, the leaders would be mercilessly sent out of the party, he warned. “Party is important not individuals,” he added. Stating that the main contest in majority constituencies in the state would be between the Congress and the BRS, the BRS chief made it clear that BJP’s presence in the state is miniscule. Only in some constituencies, the fight would be triangular, he added.

However, KCR cautioned the party leaders that they should not ignore the saffron party. Focus on weak constituencies, he told the leaders.

Regarding the BRS contesting polls in other states, the BRS chief told them that the party will not contest in all 543 Lok Sabha seats. It will contest only the winnable seats for the present.

KCR To Address BRS’ Third Rally In Maharashtra Today

Maharashtra : BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be addressing a public meeting in Aurangabad, Maharashtra on Monday. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), in a tweet, said Aurangabad has been decked up for the “massive” meeting with an air of excitement among people. “Aurangabad decks up for massive BRS public meeting today. There’s an air of excitement and enthusiasm among people in Aurangabad and its neighbouring areas ahead of the third public meeting of the BRS in Maharashtra,” BRS tweeted.

It will be the third meeting that the BRS is holding in Maharashtra after the party was rechristened last year. Earlier, BRS had organised meetings in Nanded and Kandhar in the western state. KCR, as the BRS chief is also known, had said party vehicles will tour every village in all 288 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra to form farmers’ committees. He also pointed out that the state has recorded the highest number of farmers’ suicides in the country. He had also questioned why there is water shortage in the western state even though big rivers such as Godavari and Krishna originate from there.

BRS appears keen on expanding and fielding candidates in Maharashtra with groups of activists and leaders joining the party separately in the presence of Rao during the last couple of months.

  • KCR said – even after 75 years of independence, India is still struggling with water and electricity shortage

KCR said – even after 75 years of independence, India is still struggling with water and electricity shortage

Nanded: Ripping apart both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party for failing to ensure welfare of farmers, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said despite 75 years of independence, India was still plagued with water and power shortage.

Reiterating that India was replete with natural resources, he said there was abundant water and the country’s vast lands were suitable for cultivation much more than those in China and the United States.

Every year, there was provision of about 75,000 tmc of water and of this, only 19,000 tmc was being utilized. Nearly 50,000 tmc was flowing down into the Bay of Bengal. Similarly, there were 361 billion tonnes of coal reserves with which 24 hours quality power can be supplied for 125 years, he explained.

Yet the farmers were deprived of water and power for agriculture. When the country was blessed with resources, the Prime Minister at the Centre and the Chief Minister in Maharashtra, with their lack of vision, were becoming hurdles in ensuring optimum utility of these resources, he said.

“Fight with me, I assure you water will be supplied to every acre,” Chandrashekhar Rao said at the BRS meeting in Nanded on Sunday amidst ‘Desh ki Netha kaisa ho, KCR jaisa Ho’ slogans from the audience.

The Congress ruled the country for 54 years and BJP has been ruling for about 16 years. Yet there was no substantial difference or development. There could have been some difference for some political parties and leaders, but the fate of people, especially farmers has not changed, he pointed out.

All these aspects have to be discussed with family and friends and there should be debates in villages, he said.

“The key is our vote and unity. We have the ability to rule the nation, show your strength,” Chandrashekhar Rao said, pointing out that as people continue to fight on caste and religion-based issues and stay divided, farmers would continue to die by suicide.

“The only mantra is farmers have to stay united and form a team to fight against these parties, which have taken the farming community for granted,” he said.
