    KIIT and KISS founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta promises help to Odisha train tragedy victims

    Bhubaneswar: The founder of KIIT and KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta has lent a helping hand to the victims of the Balasore-Bahanga train accident.

    The MP of Kandhamal and founder of KIIT and KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta and has decided to help the families of the victims of the Balasore Bahanga train accident.

    He has promised that one member of the family of the deceased will be recruited in the KIIT or KISS group of institutions.

    The job in KIIT or KISS shall be given to the person based on his merit, the Founder further clarified.

    He further added that, free education shall be given to the children in KIIT or KISS University based on their merit.

    Bhubaneswar: The Kirti Kalpana, graduation fashion show 2023 conducted by the School of Fashion Technology in the presence of Dr. Arabinda Padhee, IAS; Prof. Himanshu Shekhar Khatua, Director of SRFTI, Kolkata, and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder KIIT & KISS and Dr. Jynana Ranjana Mohanty Registrar, KIIT DU.

    During the occasion Revathi Mohanty felicitated for achieving the title of Miss Global Asia Pacific 2023 held at Melaka, Malaysia and Trishna for bagging the title of Miss Teen Universe India 2023 held in Jaipur Rajasthan from 6th-13th April 2023.

    Student Designer Payal Rout got the award for Best Design collection in Fashion, while Aishwarya Urmila Mahapatra for Best Design collection in Textile; Banshika pattanaik was awarded for winning 1st position in face painting, Akankshya awarded for best logo design for KIIT Souvenir Shop; Siddhanta Gupta and Devapreet Maharana also got awarded for their contribution as videographer and Photo Editor for the show.

    Tilakraj Bihari (staff) and Gedeon Mugisho (student) bags the title of Best Dress other hand Aparupa Paranaik (staff) and Simran Rout (student) owned the title of Best Dress of the event Kirti Kalpana. The final year students showcased their collection. During this occasion the Brochure of Kirti Kalpana was launched.

    KIIT to support footballers of Boudh and Kandhamal districts for 2 years: Achyuta Samanta

    Phulnbani: The Bhubaneswar-based Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University will support the football players of Boudh and Kandhamal districts for the next two years, informed Kandhamal MP and KIIT & KISS founder Achyuta Samanta.

    Samanta’s announcement came following the entry of Kandhamal into the final of the 62nd Senior Men Inter-District Football Championship for Sahani Cup. The Kandhamal football team entered the final for the first time after defeating Bargarh 2-1 at Bidanasi Ground in Cuttack.

    Apart from making the announcement, the Kandhamal MP also congratulated and felicitated the players. With the aim to boost the morale of the players, he also announced to give cash award of Rs 2 lakh to the team if they become the champion of the tournament and Rs 1 lakh if they become the runners-up.

    He hoped that Kandhamal will become the winner of the final match which is slated to be played on May 17 at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The Senior Men Inter-District Football Championship for Sahani Cup is jointly being organised by the Football Association of Odisha and the State Sports & Youth Service Department.

    Moreover, Samanta said that a number of decisions have been taken for the promotion of sports in Boudh and Kandhamal districts. As part of this, the KIIT University will support the footballers of Boudh and Kandhamal districts for two years.

    The football players of Boudh and Kandhamal if want can stay in KIIT University and continue their practice at the high-performance centre, Samanta said adding that coaching will be provided at the grassroot level.

    He further said that decision will be taken for the development of the football grounds in Boudh and Kandhamal districts. Besides, floodlights will be installed in 5-6 football grounds.

    “Special coaching camps will be organised for the players or athletes of Boudh and Kandhamal districts who will be taking part in the district or national level competitions. Special (even financial) help will also be provided to the players who make it to the national teams. If they want to pursue their studies, they also can take admission and complete their education free of cost,” said the Kandhamal MP.

    Odisha: KIIT to organize events of All India Chess Federation

    Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology ( KIIT ), which has been popularizing chess for past 15 years, has achieved yet another success in the field of sports. The institution has been affiliated to the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and is now eligible to conduct various programmes under the administrative body.

    KIIT is the first and only private academy in the country to get this affiliation. Following the approval by the AICF’s executive council, a special general council meeting was held on Sunday which also approved the agreement. As a result of this partnership, KIIT will now be able to directly host Grandmaster tournaments as well as various events of the World Chess Federation.

    KIIT and KIIS founder and Kandhamal MLA, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, thanked FIDE Advisory Board Chairman and Asian Chess Federation Deputy President Bharat Singh Chouhan and AICF Joint Editor Ranjan Mohanty for this historic partnership.

    Dr. Samanta said in his speech that chess will get all support from Odisha and the plan is to make the state stand number one in the game across the country. Notably, since 2011 Chess has been included in the school curriculum at KIIT & KISS under the auspices of the Indian Chess Association by FIDE.
