    Kishan Reddy weakened BJP, say Balakrishna Reddy

    Hyderabad: Suspended BJP leader Jitta Balakrishna Reddy on Saturday levelled serious allegations against party State unit chief G Kishan Reddy accusing him of weakening the party in the State. Balakrishna Reddy, who hails from Yadadri Bhongir district, was suspended on Wednesday for anti-party activities by Kishan Reddy.

    Speaking to the media, Balakrishna Reddy alleged that the decision of the party leadership to replace Bandi Sanjay and handover the reins of the party to Kishan Reddy was a bad decision. Bandi Sanjay had brought a lot of enthusiasm among the party functionaries and created a hype in the State, whereas, Kishan Reddy during his previous tenures could not take the party beyond Hyderabad, he said. “Kishan Reddy did nothing for the party. In fact, he had weaken the party,”he alleged.

    Coming down heavily on Kishan Reddy, Balakrishna alleged that the State president was very selfish and did not allow any other leader to grow in the party. Questioning his suspension, he said party State election management committee chairman Eatala Rajender was involved in anti-party activities, but he was not suspended.

    Even Dubbaka MLA M Raghunandan Rao, who openly criticised BJP national president JP Nadda and union Home Minister Amit Shah, former MLA and senior dalit leader A Chandrasekhar and former MP Ravinder Naik, criticised party leadership, but no action was taken against them, but he was suspended for criticising the decision of the party central leadership to replace Bandi, he said.

    It is learnt that Balakrishna Reddy was planning to join the Congress soon.

    Hyderabad: Union Minister for Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy said here on Friday that President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebrations of prominent freedom fighter Alluri Sitharama Raju.

    Addressing the gathering at the precursor meet for the closing ceremony of the Alluri birth anniversary celebrations at Centre for Culture Resource and Training (CCRT), he said the closing event will be held on July 4 in Hyderabad.

    Reddy said Alluri’s name, life, sacrifice, mission, history and courage in mounting an uncompromising fight against the British Raj for freedom remains an everlasting inspiration for generations to come.” Alluri felt every bullet the British fired at innocent girijans was hitting him. He united girijans to fight the British atrocities. At the same time, he had also brought several reforms for improvement of their living standards. Alluri remains the pride of Telugu people; he adhered to highest moral values even while fighting the British is something to emulate by everyone, the minister added.

    He said when the Centre was to unveil plans to celebrate the Azadi Ki Amrut Mahotsav to mark 75 years of independence “it was decided to give due recognition to unsung heroes who sacrificed their lives for freedom of the nation and her people.” After listening to Alluri’s contribution to the freedom struggle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to inaugurate the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebrations at Bhimavaram.

    The Union minister said that Modi and Murmu were taking part in the celebrations to respect Alluri’s contribution “as their responsibility. “The Centre has planned several initiatives to develop places where Alluri moved during his fight against the British as tourist spots so that his life and mission will continue to inspire generations to come.

    He appreciated the Kshatriya Seva Samithi and Alluri Women’s Brigade for their commitment to organising a series of programmes to mark the celebrations. Reddy asked officials to take steps for live screening of the closing ceremony in every village connected with the life and mission of the freedom fighter.

    He asked people to take part in a big way in the closing ceremony in Hyderabad to pay tributes to the Telugu freedom fighter.

    Average of 60 per cent to 80 per cent increase in MSP since 2014 for those crops predominantly grown in Telangana

    Hyderabad: Union Minister of Tourism, Culture, and DoNER, G Kishan Reddy, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the decision of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to approve the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all mandated Kharif crops for the marketing season 2023-24.

    Chaired by the Prime Minister, the CCEA’s decision aims to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce and to encourage crop diversification.

    In a statement released on Wednesday, G Kishan Reddy emphasised the Government of India’s commitment to supporting farmers by raising the MSP for Kharif Crops. He stated, “The increase in MSP for the Marketing Season 2023-24 is a step towards empowering farmers and promoting crop diversification.”

    He also highlighted the significant benefits that farmers in Telangana have gained from the increased MSP since 2014. He noted, “Telangana farmers have experienced remarkable advantages with an average increase in MSP ranging from 60 to 80 percent since 2014, particularly for crops predominantly grown in the region.”

    He specifically mentioned notable MSP hikes for crops such as sunflower, cotton, maize, and Paddy. “Sunflower has witnessed the highest growth with an MSP increase of over 80 percent since 2014. Cotton, which promotes Telangana’s handlooms and textiles, has seen a 75 percent increase in MSP since 2014. As Telangana is the second-largest paddy-producing State, the approximately 60 percent MSP increase for paddy and maize since 2014 has greatly benefitted our annadatas,” the Minister added.

    He affirmed, “The revised MSP for crops such as Paddy, Maize, Sunflower, and Cotton, grown in Telangana, ensures that farmers receive a minimum margin of at least 50 percent over their cost of production.”
