    Leopard attack: TTD EO said – boy’s condition stable

    Tirupati: TTD EO A V Dharma Reddy said that the condition of the boy Koushik who was attacked by a leopard in Tirumala on Thursday night was stable.

    EO on Friday said the boy was shifted to the intensive care unit in Sri Padmavathi Hrudayalaya super speciality hospital and doctors closely monitoring his condition.

    The forest officials who are investigating the incident informed that the leopard is of 13-18 months old, Reddy said adding that after a detailed enquiry today the forest officials submit a report.

    Following the leopard attack on the boy who was badly mailed, security in the serpentine footpath which meander through dense forests, deep valleys, Rocky hillocks, criss crossing the habitats of wild animals including leopards, wild boats, etc. is immediately strengthened by TTD.

    It is needless to say the leopard attack created topples nationwide stirring TTD to re-examine the safety measures in the footpath route from Alipiri to Tirumala.

    Meanwhile, TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy visited the hospital and enquired with the doctors on the condition of the boy mauled by the leopard.

    He later said there is no danger for his life.

    Another five-year-old girl killed in leopard attack in Bijnor

    Bijnor (IANS) | In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district, a leopard climbed over the wall of a house and dragged away a five-year-old girl playing in the courtyard. The injured girl Yamini was later taken to the hospital, but by then she had died. Tikendra Singh, the girl’s father, said Yamini was playing alone in the courtyard of the house after having her meal when the leopard attacked her. This is the second incident in Rehad area within 24 hours. The incident took place on Tuesday late night on the outskirts of Machhmar village in Rehar area of Bijnor.

    Forest officer Arun Kumar said that we have installed cages and trap cameras to trap the leopard. The patrolling of the Forest Department team has been increased. The villagers living in the area have also been alerted.

    The forest officer expressed apprehension that both the incidents were not executed by the same leopard, teams of wildlife experts are being called from Meerut and Moradabad to investigate this.

    It is notable that this is the second incident in Rehar area of Bijnor district within 24 hours. Earlier, on Monday, a five-year-old girl Arshi, who was playing in the courtyard of her house in Udaipur village, was attacked and killed.

    Rehad is a relatively secluded area surrounded by sugarcane and wheat fields near the Amangarh Tiger Reserve.
