  • Not a single child should be deprived of going to school and should not fall prey to communicable diseases: Chief Minister

Not a single child should be deprived of going to school and should not fall prey to communicable diseases: Chief Minister

Lucknow (IANS)| Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that no child should be deprived of going to school and no child should fall prey to any communicable disease. This is the responsibility of all of us. Children have to be brought to school, their guardians have to be prepared so that we can make literacy 100 percent within the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was speaking on the occasion of the launch of School Chalo Abhiyan-2023 and Communicable Disease Control Campaign on Saturday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister provided free text books to the children of class one to eight. Along with this, report cards were also given to the students who passed in the proficient assessment. School Readiness and Teacher Guide was also released. Apart from this, Rani Laxmibai self-defense training program was also launched under Mission Shakti.

On the occasion of the beginning of the new academic session, CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh has been the focal point of education and health since ancient times. But due to not preparing itself according to the time, at one time Uttar Pradesh was being identified for anarchy, hooliganism, riots, corruption and disorder. The steps taken by the state government during the last 6 years, today its results are being seen in every field. We started the School Chalo campaign on 1st July 2017 in Kukrail. This program was a complete success. I am happy that the number of enrollment of children which was one crore 34 lakh in July 2017 has increased to 1.92 crore today.

Referring to the changes taking place in the field of education in the state, CM Yogi said that under Operation Kayakalp, public representatives, education department officials, administrative officers, police officers and former students together adopted one school each. In Operation Kayakalp, out of total 1.56 lakh schools, we have covered 1.36 lakh schools with basic facilities as well as smart classes and other facilities. The remaining 20,000 schools are left, which are being linked with these programs in this session. Now the Basic Education Council is adopting the syllabus of NCRT.

He said that with the beginning of the School Chalo Abhiyan, it becomes our responsibility that every teacher, every headmaster should hold a meeting with all the dignitaries of the ward or gram panchayat in which the school is located, and seek their cooperation. Have a meeting with the parents. It would be good to go door-to-door and screen each house. Study the Gram Panchayat. There are people living in different social and economic conditions. Create a database of them. The school should have the report card of its Gram Panchayat. If possible, the Basic Education Council should prepare a portal for this and take this database from each school. It will also be a case study for a teacher at the local level. From this you will decide how many children are going to school and how many are deprived. Those who are deprived of going to school, for what reasons are they deprived. It should be our endeavor to ensure that the Aadhaar authentication is done at the same time. All District Magistrates should ensure that they prepare a nodal officer who, along with BSA, will take this program forward in every development block and every gram panchayat.

On communicable diseases, CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh is a state of no climatic zone. Different diseases also occur in different areas. You will see that from Kushinagar, Gorakhpur to Terai of Nepal to Saharanpur, encephalitis used to swallow up thousands of children every year in this region. Children from one year to 15 years used to fall prey to it. There was an atmosphere of fear and panic in the minds of the people from July to November-December. Kala-azar used to spread in Varanasi and its surrounding areas. Malaria in Bareilly and surrounding areas, dengue havoc was seen till Lucknow-Kanpur-Mathura. Chikungunya was wreaking havoc in the region of Jhansi and Bundelkhand. The Health Department has run this program within the last 6 years, in which many departments participated. Communicable Disease Control was launched on April 1, 2018, exactly 5 years ago. Government of India and organizations like UNICEF, WHO contributed along with the departments of the state to take these programs to the masses. Today this model of Uttar Pradesh for communicable disease control has come in front of the whole country as a good result.

Regarding the simultaneous launch of Communicable Disease Control Program and School Chalo Abhiyan, CM Yogi said that most of the children used to fall prey to these diseases. That is why this program of School Chalo Abhiyan and Communicable Disease Control has been organized together. The biggest role in this is cleanliness and pure drinking water. The role of teachers is also important in this. Their job is not limited to teaching the syllabus in the school but also have to interact with the parents.

  • India Post turbocharges the export game of small businesses in UP

India Post turbocharges the export game of small businesses in UP

    By PTI

LUCKNOW: Dak Niryat Kendras (DNK) set up by India Post in major cities across Uttar Pradesh are helping small businesses to export their products to markets abroad, helping them save money, and also obviating the need for middlemen.

As of now, the facility is being provided by the India post in nine cities — Lucknow, Varanasi, Pilibhit, Allahabad, Noida, Saharanpur, Nagina, Mahoba, and Ghazipur.

Meant for commercial exports by MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), the service has boosted the earnings of small businesses including the ones operating under the One District, One Product (ODOP) scheme of the Uttar Pradesh government.

The DNK in Prayagraj and Varanasi — both located in economically backward Eastern Uttar Pradesh — have also received favourable response from local businesses.

Ravindra Kumar, a third generation manufacturer of Kaleen carpets based in Prayagraj, was on the verge of quitting his ancestral trade and shut down his shop when his business was hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

“In those days, the only option was to export our goods abroad, especially to the markets in America and Europe. But the cost of export via private exporters was high and the process cumbersome. The DNKs have resolved this problem for us,” he said.

Kumar now books his carpets for commercial export at the local DNK.

The carpets are then taken to the Foreign Post Office (FPO) of India Post in Delhi before being exported.

During all this, Kumar is not required to visit any office and tracks the movement of his carpets online.

India Post officials say that with the active involvement of Union Minister of Railways and Communication Ashwini Vaishnav, the DNK has become an empowering service for small businesses.

Vivek Kumar Daksh, Postmaster General HQ Region, Lucknow said, “The foreign Post offices are linked with the Customs department which simplifies the process of custom clearance of goods. In case there is any issue with the customs, it is raised online for the businessman to track. Earlier, exporters had to visit Foreign Post Offices at limited FPOs to file PBE (Postal Bill of Export) which was difficult for people in remote locations. With digital solutions, exporters can file PBE online which saves time and cost,” he added.

The system has also helped in removing the private exporters and customs agents who used to play the role of middlemen and who took a fat chunk from the profits of small businesses.

Parvez Alam of Pratapgarh, who runs a small business of wooden toys and exports them with DNK, said, “After moving to DNKs from private exporters we save almost 30 per cent of our cost. We plan to use this money to expand our business.”

Considering that most of the clients using DNK are small businesses with limited technological knowhow, the postal department has deployed trained Dak Niryat Sahayaks to guide artisans and MSMEs exporters on the use of DNK portal.

“These Dak Niryat Sahayaks also provide information about the process of GST registration, generation of Import-Export Code, listing products including ODOP/GI tagged on e-commerce portals and booking etc,” said the officer.
