    Two arrested with 500 grams of heroin in Ludhiana

    The Special Task Force (STF) of Ludhiana arrested two smugglers and seized 500 gm of heroin from their possession.

    The suspects have been identified as Harpreet Singh (38) and Harmandeep Singh (36), both residents of Daraha. One of their accomplices, Inderjit Singh (30) of Lopo, Samrala, managed to give the slip to the police. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the duo.

    STF Ludhiana range in-charge Inspector Harbans Singh said acting on a tip-off on May 19, the STF team laid a naka at a strategic point near Sahnewal. A car (bearing registration number MP14CC7789) was signalled to stop for checking. One of the occupant in the vehicle managed to escape from the spot while two were nabbed. Heroin was seized from beneath the driver’s seat.

    During questioning, Harpreet admitted the he was into the illegal trade for a long time and he was already facing six cases of murder, drug smuggling registered against him in the past. Harmandeep said he was a truck driver and he also had a criminal past. Both of them after coming out on bail continued the notorious trade. The suspects also admitted that they had been buying consignment of heroin from some smugglers in Sahnewal and Ghora Colony in Ludhiana, Harbans said.

    He said now, the police remand of the suspects would be sought to bust the entire drug supply line and big smugglers would be arrested soon.

    The Khanna police today arrested three persons and seized 40 gm of heroin from their possession. In another incident, a woman was nabbed with heroin by the Ludhiana police.

    The suspects have been identified as Karanvir Singh, Amandeep Singh and Pardeep Singh, all residents of Dhamot Kalan village, near Payal. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the suspects.

    Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Payal, Harsimrat Chetra, in a statement issued said acting on a tip-off, the Doraha police laid a naka at a strategic place in Doraha where a Maruti Swift car (bearing registration no. PB10CP3695) was intercepted. During the checking of the vehicle, 40 gm of heroin was found kept in a polythene bag.

    The DSP said the suspects were on the way to deliver heroin to their clients. Now, their police remand would be sought from court so that the entire drug smuggling network could be busted.

    In the other incident, the Ludhiana police on Tuesday arrested a woman and seized 80 gm of heroin from her. She has been identified as Neelam of Ekta Marg, Shimlapuri.

    ADCP Rupinder Sran in a statement issued said officials of the anti-narcotics cell of the city police had received a tip-off that the woman was into the drug smuggling trade and she was on the way to deliver heroin to her clients. The police laid a trap and nabbed her along with heroin from a strategic point.

    A case under the NDPS Act was registered.

    New Delhi (IANS) | Based on a complaint by a woman in the national capital, a 25-year-old man has been arrested in Ludhiana for stalking women and posting photoshopped pictures of his victims online. A Delhi Police officer gave this information on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Kuldeep. The officer said that he created a social media profile in the name of a woman and used to request others to befriend them and later posted morphed pictures to harass them.

    According to the police, a 24-year-old woman from Delhi alleged that on March 15, she received a friend request from an Instagram ID named Simran.

    Jitendra Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) said, he accepted the friend request as many were mutual friends. After some time, she came to know that the said Instagram account had used her picture as a display image and posted her edited/morphed objectionable pictures and objectionable comments on Instagram.

    The accused made a collage using the photograph of the complainant along with the photograph of another woman.

    The DCP said, allegedly to harass the complainant, he started inducing undue advantage through Instagram and WhatsApp messages/calls. The alleged unknown person started stalking her online and molesting her through Instagram, WhatsApp messages and calls.

    During investigation, on the basis of technical surveillance, the suspect was apprehended at a place in Ludhiana.

    Kuldeep was arrested and during interrogation he confessed to his involvement in the case and recovered a mobile phone used in the crime, the DCP said.

    Further efforts are on to ascertain the possible involvement of the accused in other cases as well, the DCP said.
