    Woman shot dead by two bike-borne criminals

    Bhopal (IANS) | Two bike-borne unidentified criminals shot dead a woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. The accused escaped after killing the woman. The incident took place around 11 am when the victim, a resident of Basant Vihar area, had reached a temple with her friend. According to information, the victim was parking her scooty when two bike-borne criminals came near her and shot her in the head.

    The victim’s friend ran away screaming in panic. Before anyone could do anything, the criminals fled from the spot. This incident spread panic among the people who saw the incident.

    Dhar District Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh along with other senior policemen reached the spot. The body was taken to the hospital for postmortem. The relatives of the victim also reached the hospital.

    A case of murder has been registered against both the unidentified persons and raids have been launched to arrest them, police said. Things are not clear as of now, said a senior police officer. The search for the culprits has been launched on the basis of the statements of people who saw the incident very closely.

    Significantly, on Tuesday, a woman had allegedly killed her three minor daughters in Dhar. According to the police, bodies of two girls were recovered from a well, while one girl was found dead outside the well.

    The police claimed to have arrested the victims’ mother on Wednesday morning.

    Indore : Lasudia police on Sunday arrested two youths for thrashing the son of an ex-minister and damaging his SUV’s windscreen. One of their accomplices is on the run and the police are searching for him.

    Lasudia police station in-charge Santosh Dudhi said that Yashwardhan Singh Kirad, the son of ex-minister Ranjana Baghel, was beaten by three persons named Shobhit, Vaibhav and Raghav in Scheme Number 78 on April 21. Yashwardhan was in a vehicle and the accused had stopped him alleging that he was driving recklessly.

    The accused were carrying a cricket bat with which they thrashed Yashwardhan and they also abused him. The accused also damaged the windscreen of Yashwardhan’s vehicle.

    The arrested accused were produced before the court of ACP Vijay Nagar from where they were sent to jail. Their accomplice named Vaibhav was on the run till the filing of the report.

He has told that during the excavation of the house on Tuesday, he found these coins in a pot. First he took him home but later handed him over to the police.

    Bhopal (IANS) | A 12-year-old boy was allegedly stripped naked and forced to chant religious slogans in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. A senior police officer said on Friday that the accused, who is a minor and known to the victim, has been taken into custody.

    According to the police, the matter came to light late on Thursday night after the video of the incident surfaced on social media. The victim was playing near Star Square when one of the accused approached him and took him to another place.

    The victim told the police that another boy joined them when they reached near a flyover in Mahalaxmi Nagar area. Both forced him to chant religious slogans. They allegedly thrashed him and made him strip.

    He somehow escaped from there and narrated the whole incident to his parents. After this, the family took him to the nearby police station and lodged a complaint on Thursday.

    Police said, the accused and the victim were known to each other. We have taken the accused into custody and booked them under relevant IPC sections. We have also requested people not to make the video of the incident viral on social media, as both the accused and the victim are minors. Police is trying to find out what made the accused do this.

    A senior police officer told IANS that the investigation into the matter is on.

    Bhopal (IANS)| In a tragic accident on the day of Ram Navami, at least 14 people were killed and several others injured when water gushed into a deep stepwell while offering prayers at a prominent temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Thursday, officials said. President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic incident. The incident took place near Baleshwar Mahadev Temple.

    According to the police, about 50 to 60 feet deep, the lid of an old stepwell, on which the devotees were standing to worship, caved in, causing about 30 people to fall into it. Panic spread when people started crying after seeing their beloved dying in the deep well.

    The district administration and police soon swung into action and NDRF teams were also called in for the rescue operation. District Collector Ilaiyaraaja T. also arrived to supervise the rescue operation and other departments like health and fire were also alerted.

    The police officer involved in the rescue operation said that the rescue operation was severely hampered due to narrow and iron rods above the well. Only one person could go in at a time and similarly only one person could be taken out at a time.

    Ilaiyaraaja T said the rescue operation is still on and water is being pumped out of the well. At least 14 feet of water was stored in the well, and the process of draining it is underway. He expressed apprehension that the death toll may rise as some more people are feared to be trapped.

    Meanwhile, the condition of at least four to five people admitted to the hospital is said to be critical, officials told IANS. Amid rescue operations, the police also had to handle the crowd, especially those whose family members had fallen into the well and were inconsolable. The police used ropes to pull out the trapped people, but the water in the stepwell was a barrier. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra told the press in Bhopal that those who fell into the deep well were seriously injured and the debris polluted the water. One girl is still missing and the search operation is on.

    He had said that 11 bodies have been recovered, while two of the 19 people rescued have died. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident, he said. This unfortunate incident has shaken the entire Madhya Pradesh. Later, when one more body was removed from the stepwell, the death toll increased.

    Nivedita Sharma, member of the SCPCR inspection team, said that she has brought the matter to the notice of the District Collector. The police is probing the entire matter. An FIR has been lodged against the school principal and a detailed probe has been sought from the police.

    Sharma told IANS that when we reached there for routine inspection, we were surprised to know how both the corners of the school were connected from inside, it was a room and there were liquor bottles and condoms. It was like a full residential setup. It is not only of one person but also other people came out of the building, who were living there. It was being used as a residence.

    He further said that at least 15 beds were lying in that room and there was no CCTV camera. The question arises as to why that particular section was left out when CCTV cameras are installed at other places in the building. The principal said that he is not staying there, so who is staying there and why are there 15 beds. More importantly, why is there a direct entrance to that room from the classrooms of the girl students.

    Sharma said that liquor is absolutely not allowed in the school premises. This is a violation of the law.
