Jagatsinghpur: In a tragic incident, a girl went missing after drowning in the Mahanadi River in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district. The incident has come to the fore from the Jagannathpur area under the Kujang block of the district.
The girl has been identified as Lusi Mallik, daughter of Arvind Mallik of Jagannathpur village.
Athagarh: In the shocking incident of a girl jumping into the Mahanadi river a body has been recovered early this morning that is on Monday.
According to reports, a body has been found floating in the Mahanadi river near Anandapur under Khuntuni police limits.
However, the body recovered is suspected to be of the girl who had gone missing after reportedly jumping off Mundali bridge on May 20, 2023.
A girl reportedly jumped into the Mahanadi River two days back from Mundali barrage in Cuttack district of Odisha in the evening.
According to reports, the woman came to the Mundali Barrage in Athagarh with a scooter, bearing registration no-OD 02B E0396, and jumped into the Mahanadi River soon after parking the vehicle.
The passersby who saw her jumping into the river informed the police about the incident. Movement of vehicles was affected on the route as several people want to trace her by parking their vehicles on the road.
A team of local cops rushed to the spot and started an investigation into the incident by seizing the two-wheeler. However, they are yet to ascertain the identity of woman and the reason what forced her to jump into the river.
