    Man killed after being hit by bike in Odisha’s Malkangiri

    Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, a man was killed in a road mishap in Malkangiri district of Odisha on Monday. The accident took place in the MPV 23 village under Kalimela Police station limits in the district.

    The deceased man has been identified as Supad Sarkar of the village. The accused is said to be from the MV 115 village under MV 79 Police outpost limits.

    As per reports, Sarkar was walking on the road to reach the pond of the village that is by the road side to take bath when he met the accident. A biker hit him and accordingly he was killed on the spot.

    After getting information Kalimela Police reached the spot and initiated investigation. Further probe of the case is underway.

    Earlier today an elderly woman died after being hit by a motorcycle in Odisha’s Balangir district. The accident took place in the Dhamandanga village under Kantabanji police limits of the district.

    Malkangiri: Two persons have gone missing while returning from a wedding after the boat they were riding in capsized in the river in Sindiguda village in Swaviman area of ​​Malkangari district.

    According to reports, the two missing persons are Sajit Kidinga and Balaram Kidinga of Dindiguda village. Both of them along with some other people were returning in the boat after attending a wedding feast in the Padalput village in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh. The boat reportedly capsized due to overweight.

    On being informed, the fire fighters reached the spot and rescued three people with the help of the locals. However, they could not find the traces of Sajit and Balaram.

    Both of them are still missing and rescue operation is underway. Khairput fire department team and Mudulipada police are continuing rescue operation at the spot.

    Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, two people went missing after a boat capsized in the Satiguda water reservoir of Odisha’s Malkangiri district. Later the dead body of one of the missing was fished out from the reservoir.

    The deceased woman was identified as Tulsa Madhi, a resident of Vimarangini village. The other missing person has been identified as Govind Sardhar of mv-112 village.

    According to sources, the two went to the dam for fishing. While fishing, the boat overturned due to heavy rains under the influence of Kalbaisakhi. As the boat capsized, the Tulsa and Govind drowned in the Satiguda water reservoir. Locals spotted them drowning and immediately informed ODRAF and fire service personnel about it.

    On being informed, ODRAF and other fire service officials reached the spot and started a search operation. During the search operation, the dead body of Tulsa was fished out. However, Govind is still missing.

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced Rs 4 lakh compensation for the next-of-kin of people who lost their lives in Kalbaisakhi in Malkangiri.

    Chief Minister Naveen have expressed deep sorrow over the death of four persons in two separate accidents in Malkangiri area due to widespread damage caused due to Kalbaisakhi. He has also directed Special Relief Commissioner to provide financial assistance for the families of all the deceased.

    Worth mentioning, two people died as boats capsized in the dam in Malkangiri district and two other died as wall collapsed in Airstrip. CM has also directed free cost of medical assistance for the injured people.

    CM Naveen have also expressed deep sorrow over the death of two girls in a boat capsize near Aryapallui village here in Ganjam district and announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased.

    Malkangiri: One person has gone missing on Wednesday evening after a fishing boat capsized following rain and strong winds in Chitrakonda dam in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

    According to reports, three people identified as Krupa, Hari and Kailash, of Dyke-3 village had gone fishing in the dam and were returning from Singaram area when the boat capsized due to sudden rain and winds. Hari Sagaria and Kailash Nayak managed to swim back ashore after the boat capsized. However, Krupa Benia had gone missing after the incident.

    They immediately informed the villagers who launched a rescue operation. However, the search operation was suspended midway due to darkness.

    On Thursday morning, the villagers resumed the operation, which was later joined by a team of the fire services department. However, there is still no trace of the missing Krupa.

    Pushpa 2 Director Sukumar In Malkangiri To Shoot Police Scenes; Know When Allu Arjun Will Be In Odisha

    Bhubaneswar: The shooting for ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, the highly-anticipated sequel, starring Allu Arjun  is likely to begin in Odisha’s Malkangiri soon, sources said on Friday.

    Director Sukumar reportedly did a recce of the terrains at Polur village under Kalimela police limits and reviewed the preparations for the shooting. He is being accompanied by assistant director M Prasad, cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek and other crew members.

    Speaking to the media, Sukumar said the search for the locations is still on. He seemed impressed with the terrains in the tribal belt.  “We will try to make something here. We found some good locations where the sunlight can be put to good use,” said Brozek.

    The assistant director said that police scenes will be shot in Malkangiri from May 9-20. “Allu Arjun will be in here in the next schedule in June-July,” he added.

    The sources further said that the production house will take the necessary permission for the shooting from Malkangiri Collector and SP on May 7. A few scenes from the upcoming pan-India film will be shot in Polur and other nearby villages in the Swabhiman Anchal that was once a hotbed of Maoist violence between 2008 and 2021, witnessing the killing of 101 civilians and 77 security personnel.

    The Border Security Force (BSF) will be requested to provide security and cooperate with the production house during the shooting, the sources added.

    Production manager of Mythri Movie Makers P Venkateswara Rao had earlier confirmed that Hantalguda, Saptadhara and Jhulapola were finalised for the filming of Pushpa-2 in Odisha. The makers reportedly had found a place in Hantalguda ghat with a hanging bridge to film a scene in which a lorry is seen chasing a jeep.

    A few days ago, Allu Arjun dressed in shorts and a black shirt was seen in an area along Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The shooting had begun near Tarbuj waterfall, about 2 km from Malkangiri, in the neighbouring state. It had created a lot of excitement in Odisha, where Allu Arjun already enjoys a huge fan base.

    The Pushpa actor’s blockbuster movie ‘Arya’ was earlier shot in Odisha’s Rayagada.

    Hemp worth Rs 40 lakh seized in Odisha’s Malkangiri district

    Malkangiri: Around 390 kg of ganja (dry cannabis) worth Rs 40 lakh was seized by the excise official during a series of raids at multiple locations of the district on Friday.

    The excise superintendent and a special team constructed on the instructions of the district collector reportedly conducted a raid after obtaining a tip-off from a reliable source about the ganja.

    As per reports, the team intercepted a person who was moving in a suspicious manner near Pipalpadar area. They found some ganja in his possession while checking him.

    Later, the team searched his house and recovered around 330 kg of ganja. It is suspected that the person had stored the ganja to smuggle it to other parts of the country.

    In a similar case, around 30 kg of ganja was seized near Balimela. The team intercepted a person, who was allegedly transporting the contraband on a motorcycle.

    A senior official said that they seized around 390 kg of ganja, which had an estimated market value of around Rs 40 lakh from two persons. Two separate cases have been registered and further investigation in this connection is underway.

    BSF recovers huge dump of Maoist explosives in Malkangiri

    Malkangiri: The security forces have unearthed a huge dump of arms and explosives of the Maoists in Odisha’s Malkangiri on the Saheed Diwas (martyrs’ day) observed by the banned outfit.

    On the basis of specific information about the Maoist dump in Balimela Reserve Forest near village Taimal, the BSF launched a special operation on Thursday. The BSF personnel found the dump in Balimela forest between Lariguda and Taimal villages under Chitrakonda police station on Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border.

    The arms and explosives that were recovered from the dump included 2 SBML guns, 2 empty SBML shells, 11 hand grenades and 28 detonators besides 3 steel tiffin boxes.

    Recovery of the huge dump explosives and SBML gun is expected to demoralise the Maoist cadres and their sympathisers, said a press release of the BSF. It would also motivate the security forces to operate more actively in the region.

    Balimela Reserve Forest has been the safe haven for Maoist outfits since long due to topographical reasons and favourable atmosphere. BSF troops and police have been actively operating in the area to curb Maoist menace in the region and create sense of security among the local populace.
