    mandi. A major accident was averted in District Mandi. Please tell that a big branch of a tree fell on top of a house in Dasiun Dhatoli Panchayat Khudla. One person has been injured in the accident. The injured person has been identified as 50-year-old Virender Kumar.

    The injured was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. But due to head injury, the person has been sent for Hamirpur city scan. On the other hand, the branch of Peepal tree was removed by the Public Works Department Baldwara on the spot. According to the information, Virendra had come to his relative Nishant’s house. During this, due to heavy rain and strong wind, a big branch of Peepal tree fell on the house. Due to which the relative Virendra who came home got hurt on his head. Apart from this, due to falling of a branch on the house, cracks have appeared in the slab.

    The roof railing, water tank and drainage pipe have also been broken. On the other hand, as soon as the information was received, the employees of the Revenue Department reached the spot and assessed the damage. On the other hand, Halka Khudla Patwari Mamta Sharma said that after assessing the damage, the report has been sent to the department.

    Mandi. An accused of charas smuggling in District Mandi has been convicted by the court. The court sentenced the accused to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 9 years under Section 20 NDPS Act and to pay a fine of Rs.20,000. The accused has been identified as Narpat Ram S/o Shobha Village Doba Post Office Batwada Tehsil Sundernagar District Mandi.

    The sentence was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge Special Judge Sundernagar. Sub-District Magistrate Sundarnagar Vinay Verma said that in case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional rigorous imprisonment of 6 months. According to Vinay Verma, on July 14, 2013, the police team of BSL Colony Sundernagar police station, Jatnala Chambi, during patrolling, recovered 955 grams of charas from the possession of accused Narpat Ram. A case was registered against the accused, which was investigated by Sub-Inspector Binny Manhas, the then in-charge of the police station, and after completion of the investigation, the challan was presented in the court.

    In the court, the prosecution got the statements of 8 witnesses recorded. After hearing the prosecution and the accused, the court of Special Judge Sundernagar found the accused Narpat Ram guilty and sentenced him to the above sentence.

However, it is a matter of pride that there was no loss of any kind in the accident. No complaint has been lodged with the police so far regarding the matter.
