    Father kills his two children in Karnataka

    Mandya (IANS) | In a shocking case, a man killed his two children with a hammer in Srirangapatna town of Karnataka’s Mandya district. The police gave this information on Thursday. The children were identified as four-year-old Adarsh and three-year-old Amulya. The accused Srikanth, a resident of Maralagala, is absconding. Police said a search operation has been launched to nab him.

    The accused had attacked the children with a hammer and also targeted his wife Lakshmi.

    The exact reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained and police are trying to gather information from his wife. The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday.

    The accused is a resident of Jevargi in Kalaburagi district and works in a field at Virupaksha in Maralagala village. Srirangapatna Rural Police has registered a case and started investigation.

    Five people of the same family drowned in the canal, bodies of three found

    Mandya (IANS) | In a tragic incident, five members of a family drowned in a canal while swimming in Karnataka’s Mandya district on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Mehtab (10), Anisha Begum (34), Tasmiya (22), Asharak (28) and Afeeka (22). All of them had come to their close relative’s place from Bengaluru for a holiday after Ramzan.

    Fire and emergency services personnel reached the spot and pulled out three bodies from the canal. Police said a search is on for the remaining two bodies.

    The incident is of Basralu police station area. The five had gone for a swim in the Visvesvaraya Canal (VC) near Doddakottagere village. The deceased lived in Neelasandra area of Bengaluru.

    Police said that the deceased had come to the same place on Monday and swam back safely. But the accident happened on Tuesday. Police is collecting information and has started investigation.
