Modi should enter Telangana only after statement on Kazipet Coach Factory: Vinod Kumar

Hyderabad: Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar on Thursday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should land in the State only after making a clear statement on the Kazipet Railway Coach Factory, as promised in the 13th Schedule, Section 93 of the AP State Bifurcation Act.

Speaking to the media, he said people of the State, including those in Warangal district, have been fighting and waiting for the coach factory for four decades. Kumar said it was surprising that Modi was coming to Kazipet to start only a wagon repair centre instead of the coach factory in Kazipet.

He clarified that only coach factory should be set up in Kazipet; “it is the right of people of the State”. Kumar lashed out at the Congress and BJP governments at the Center for playing hide and seek regarding the coach factory for the past four decades. “Whoever is the Minister of Railways at the Centre, they are setting up railway coach factories in their respective States”, said Kumar while questioning the spirit of national unity.

The coach factory went to Bengaluru when Jafar Sharif was the Railway minister, it went to West Bengal when Mamata Banerjee was the minister. Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar took it to Bihar when they were ministers. The factory was moved to Rai Bareilly when Sonia Gandhi was the UPA chairperson. Piyush Goyal took it to Maharashtra Latur when he was the Railway minister. Modi set up railway coach factory in Dahol, Gujarat.

Kumar reminded Modi that after the BJP government came to power in 2014, it announced that no new railway coach factories would be set up in the country but in April 2018 coach factories were given to Latur and in April 2022 in Dahol. where is justice in this, he asked.

Dr. Nirmal Singh says- Modi gave tremendous boost to India’s image

Khammam: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Dr Nirmal Singh has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the completion of his nine-year tenure. He stated that a new era has begun in the country, with the emergence of a “New India” that is progressing on a high and sustained socioeconomic growth trajectory. He claimed that India had gained full strength under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He stated that the abrogation of Article 370 made Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India.

On Thursday, he visited Khammam district and reviewed the National Highway works in various locations, as part of the BJP Mahajana Sampark Abhiyan, and met with party leaders and people. Later, addressing media persons, along with district BJP president Galla Satyanaryana, he came down heavily on the BRS government. He claimed that the KCR government had completely failed to deliver on election promises. He asked the people where their Dalit CM was. He claimed that KCR was addressing Dalit issues only with an eye on the elections. He expressed anguish over the farmers’ plight in the district, slamming the State government for not implementing the Fasal Bheema Yojana Scheme which, he said, was the best scheme for farmers devised by the Central government.

Responding to District Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar’s attacks on the BJP government and its leaders, he alleged that Ajay Kumar was plundering lands and even allocated temple land to a Shadi Khanna in exchange for minority votes.

  • Modi’s nine years of visionary leadership changed the country: Prakash Javadekar

Modi’s nine years of visionary leadership changed the country: Prakash Javadekar

Hyderabad: Former Union minister Prakash Javadekar said here on Thursday that the nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership transformed the country in many ways and boosted its image and of people.

Addressing party cadre and leaders, he said the nine years of Modi government could be reckoned with nine main characteristics since he assumed office. Politics of development, good governance, government that works 24/7 for 365 days bringing stability and enhanced the country’s stature, absence of dynastic politics, unshaken faith of people reposed in Modi’s leadership and his government, and not a single minister of Cabinet faced any allegation of corruption.

Besides, a non-discriminatory policy towards people based on their religion, community and the like. Similarly, adopting a non-discriminatory policy towards any State with a focus on ‘SabkaSath, Sabka Vikas, SabkaViswas and, SabkaPrayas’ was the main ideology that drove the government in the last nine years, he added.

That apart, there is no personal agenda or interest as the government stood for the idea of ‘Nation First’, Anthyodaya to uplift the poorest of the poor and delivery of developmental fruits to the last person through weeding out corruption through the Direct Benefit Transfer, JandDhan and UPI ecosystem have brought a sea change in the country and lives of the people.

On the economic front, India has over taken from the UK, which ruled India for 200 years, emerging as the fifth largest economy from the tenth position in 2014. A recent report points out that the agenda of Modi to make the country a $ 5 trillion economy might be achieved sooner than the target set. While developed economies like China, the US, were showing trends of 3-4 per cent growth rates, and several other countries in Europe were even going into negative growth trends, the Indian economy is pegged as the fastest-growing in the world and a bright spot in the world economic landscape for prospective foreign direct investments.

When the country develops, the poor and middle class will be economically empowered. It is with such a vision that the Centre has been working tirelessly to take the country forward. India’s inflation rate, including food, is far less than other countries;the inflation and covid containment management of India has been praised by many across the world, he added.

Not only FDIs are increasing and foreign currency reserves raising, but the manufacturing and agriculture and allied sectors are showing good growth. In several sectors India is leading; it is ‘New Bharat’ emerging. The road, rail, airports, ports and metro infrastructure creation and the faster pace of its implementation bring transformation. “Four banks in the US collapsed. On the other, the recapitalisation has made the Indian banking sector stronger; the economy is scaling new heights,” he said. “People want peace, progress and prosperity, and the nine years of Modi government have set such an agenda with a vision, which is showing results, he pointed out. The government in Telangana has not been able to deliver on its promises like double bedroom houses. Its improper implementation of the PM Health Insurance Scheme has been denying fruits of development to eligible beneficiaries, he said.

He alleged that if the previous governments allocated Rs 100 to the beneficiaries, Rs 85 would disappear and only Rs 15 would be received by the beneficiaries. Modi to mark 9 years of rule with Bihar visit

A year ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP seems on its mark. The party has planned four rallies in Bihar with Prime Minister Modi being expected to visit the state to mark the completion of nine years of the party rule at the Centre.

The proposed rallies are seen as part of the BJP’s strategy to consolidate and expand its support base in the state ahead of the 2024 elections. Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats. Of them, 39 were held by the NDA when Nitish was part of it. Aware of its challenges in the backdrop of Nitish Kumar’s JD (U) snapping its ties with it in August last year, the party wants to take the lead in the poll preparations for an effective battle against the Grand Alliance, a conglomerate of seven parties including RJD, JD (U), Congress and Left parties.

The party recently admitted a few Opposition leaders, yet it has not many dependable allies. The BJP has also planned a month-long mass contact programme in which several senior party leaders will participate. The party’s top leadership has identified eight seats from where they have to focus during preparations for elections.

“The list of those Lok Sabha constituencies was submitted by the state unit of the party,” said a party office-bearer. The party has already prepared a roadmap for its massive mass contact programme. Under it, senior BJP leaders will hold discussions with workers at the assembly constituency level on June 7 and 8. It will also hold joint meetings of the party’s various cells on June 12, 13 and 14. Similarly, a ‘Labhaarthi Sammelan’’ (beneficiaries’ conferences) are proposed between June 15 and 20.

The party is also expected to observe International Yoga Day in Bihar on June 21. Party leaders will also meet social media influencers at the Lok Sabha constituency level to improve the party’s reach among the voters. On Tuesday, a meeting of the working committee was held in Nalanda, which was attended by former Union minister and Nitish’s bete noire RCP Singh.

Modi interacts with Japanese personalities for promoting Indian culture

HIROSHIMA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met some of the leading Japanese personalities who were instrumental in promoting Indian culture in Japan, saying such interactions facilitate the deepening of mutual understanding and creating stronger bonds between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi is in Hiroshima to attend three sessions at the G7 Summit following an invitation by his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida. Modi met Dr. Tomio Mizokami, Professor Emeritus at the Graduate School of Foreign Studies of Osaka University, a renowned author, linguist, and proficient in Hindi and Punjabi languages. Mizokami was conferred the Padma Shri in 2018 for his contribution to the promotion of Indian literature and culture in Japan. He presented the widely acclaimed book “Jwalamukhi”– an anthology of writings from the 1980s by a cohort of Japanese scholars who laid the foundation of Hindi learning in Japan, according to the press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Modi also met and interacted with Hiroko Takayama, who was born in Hiroshima and is a Western-style painter, whose works are deeply influenced by her deep association with India, spanning over two decades. Takayama has conducted several workshops and held exhibitions in India, and was briefly a Visiting Professor at Visva Bharati University, Shanti Niketan, the press release said. She presented the Prime Minister with one of her prominent works — an oil painting of Lord Buddha, created in 2022. Prime Minister Modi said such interactions facilitate the deepening of mutual understanding, respect and creating stronger bonds between our countries.

He looked forward to further opportunities for such enriching exchanges that pave the way for further strengthening India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership relations, it added. Earlier, Modi held bilateral talks with Kishida, focusing on ways to synergise efforts under G7 and G20 presidencies to deal with various global challenges.

Modi arrived in Hiroshima on Friday on the first leg of his three-nation trip to Japan, Papua New Guinea and Australia and is expected to take part in over 40 engagements. Modi is visiting Hiroshima from May 19 to 21 primarily for the annual summit of the G7 advanced economies in which he is expected to speak on challenges facing the globe, including food, fertiliser and energy security. He will hold bilateral meetings with some of the world leaders attending the Hiroshima G7 Summit. The G7 bloc comprises Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada and Italy, as well as the European Union.

He will also attend the third in-person Quad Summit to be hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Kishida.

US President Joe Biden and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will also participate in the meeting.

Modi to go ahead with visit to Papua New Guinea, Australia despite Quad summit postponement

NEW DELHI: Although the Quad Leaders Summit has been postponed since President Biden will head back to the US for urgent Congressional meetings after attending the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sticking to his earlier schedule.

After attending the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, he will head to Papua New Guinea and Australia for bilateral meetings.

Since President Biden has to head back to the US, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is likely to hold a bilateral meeting of all Quad leaders in Hiroshima (on the sidelines of the G7 Summit) as PM Modi, PM Kishida and President Biden will all be present there.

It is likely that they will arrive at a consensus for a later date for the Quad leaders Summit. Talks around fortifying their position in the Indo-Pacific are likely to be the core of the discussions, say sources.

Prime Minister Modi will head for the G7 Summit on May 19 and is expected to go to Papua New Guinea on May 21.

In Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, PM Modi will jointly host the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) with Prime Minister James Marape of Papua New Guinea on May 22. This will be the first ever visit of any Indian PM to the island nation.

FIPIC is a group of India and 14 Pacific Island countries which includes Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Samoa, Vanuatu, Niue, Federal States of Micronesia, Republic of Marshall Islands, Cook Islands, Palau, Nauru and Solomon Islands.

PM Modi will be in Sydney for a day on May 24 where he will have bilateral meetings with PM Albanese. He is also expected to interact with the Indian business community and the diaspora.

  • Modi must remember he’s India’s PM, not Karnataka’s CM: Siddaramaiah

Modi must remember he’s India’s PM, not Karnataka’s CM: Siddaramaiah

Mysuru : Campaigning in different parts of his own Varuna assembly constituency on Thursday, May 4, Congress leader Siddaramaiah asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remember that he is India’s PM and not Karnataka’s CM.

Siddaramaiah, who visited different parts of his own Varuna assembly constituency in Mysuru district accompanied by Kannada film stars Shivarajkumar and his wife Geetha Shivarajkumar and Nishwika Naidu said Modi is repeating whatever he said in each election and has nothing to speak about the ruling BJP’s achievements in the State.

“Modi and all other BJP leaders are saying that they will make Karnataka as the number 1 state and saying the same thing in every state during the elections but they conveniently forget the plight of the people,’’ he said and asked Modi to first revive the spirit of India and ensure that Karnataka is not subjected to continuous neglect and injustice.

Siddaramaiah said people of Karnataka and the Congress leaders know how to make the State number 1. “We know what happened in Gujarat under your tenure as chief minister and the so called Gujarat model. The malnutrition of women and children in Gujarat is enough to know what Gujarat model means as any state’s well-being can be judged from the condition of its women and children,’’ he said.

Repeating the criticism of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi over the prime minister crying over being abused 91 times instead of talking about development and how to make India and Karnataka prosperous, Siddaramaiah said: “Modi should stop crying in public and talking about himself and speak about what he has done for Karnataka during the last nine years of his rule when he is in the State for the next three days. This election is not about you but about the future of Karnataka.’’

The former chief ,inister reiterated his charge that Karnataka has suffered gross injustice during the last 9 years of Modi rule with the State getting meager grants despite contributing the maximum revenue to the country’s exchequer in the form of taxes and cess collections.

“Has Modi developed the country and solved its problems during the last 9 years of his rule? As many as 98% of the programmes launched by the BJP involve contribution of the people in addition to their tax burden and inflation they are subjected to,’’ he said.

The deterioration of India’s standing among the world’s nations can be gauged from the fact that the hunger index has slumped from 55 in 2014 to 107 in 2022-23, India has fallen in gender parity rank from 114 to 135 among 146 countries. The freedom of press ranking has come down from 140 in 2014 to 161 now, the law and order standing has falledn from 66 in 2016 to 77 in 2022, in the human development index the decline is from 130 2014 to 132 in 2022, the per capita income at constant prices has seen a mere increase from Rs 72,805 in 2011-12 to Rs 98,000 in 2022-23 or a meagre per capita increase of Rs15,000 during the last nine years and the debt burden on individuals has increased from Rs 57,000 in 2014 to a whopping Rs 1.90 lakh in 2023.

The Congress leader challenged Modi to a public debate on his government’s nine-year performance as well as the BJP rule in the State.

He accused the BJP leaders of storming Karnataka for making the State as its cash cow and ATM through 40% commission, over which Modi has remained silent as against his rantings against the opposition parties.

“The people of Karnataka are silently watching the loot and also the games to destroy Nandini brand of milk and its products to benefit the croony capitalists of BJP,’’ he added.
