    Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s visit to the US this month will set new benchmarks for bilateral ties and big announcements are likely to be made on defence industrial cooperation and boosting India’s indigenous military base, the Pentagon has said.

    Prime Minister Modi will embark on his first state visit to the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden this month. During his four-day visit starting on June 21, the US president and the First Lady will host Modi for a state dinner on June 22.

    “When Prime Minister Modi comes here to Washington for a State Visit later in the month, I think it will be a historic visit setting new benchmarks for the relationship,” Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Ely Ratner said during a panel discussion at the Center for New American Security on Thursday.

    “I think it (the visit) will be looked back upon similar to how the Japan two plus two earlier this year was a pivotal moment in the relationship. People will be looking back on this visit by Prime Minister Modi as a real springboard for the US-India relationship,” he said.

    Ratner said US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin visited India recently to advance a number of bilateral issues and prepare the ground for the prime minister’s visit to Washington by finalising particular agreements and initiatives that the two countries are working on.

    “Among the priorities are clear strategic alignment around the question of co-development and co-production between the United States and India on the defence side. This is a priority for Prime Minister Modi to strengthen India’s indigenous defence industrial base, as well as advancing the military modernisation,” he said.

    New Delhi (IANS) | Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed building of Parliament on Sunday, May 28. Opposition parties have announced to boycott the ceremony for not getting the President to inaugurate the new Parliament House. Amidst the ongoing dispute between the government and the opposition regarding the inauguration program of the new Parliament House, it is being told that the congratulatory message of President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar will also be read at the inauguration ceremony.
    According to sources, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh is likely to read the congratulatory message of President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar at the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House. According to sources, the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building is likely to begin around 7:30 am on Sunday. The program will begin with a special puja as per Vedic rituals. This special puja is likely to last for about one and a half hours.     Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his return after a six-day tour across three countries, took a dig at Opposition parties including Congress over their call to boycott the inauguration of the new Parliament.

    The PM, on Thursday, was addressing people who had gathered to welcome him outside the Palam airport on his return after holding meetings with leaders in Japan, Papua New Guinea and Australia.

    He noted that not only Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and that country’s ruling party functionaries but a former prime minister and opposition members were present as well during the Indian community’s programme in Sydney where he had spoken.

    In a veiled attack on the Opposition, Modi stated that it was the atmosphere of democracy where everyone joined in the Indian community’s programme, lauding their show of “democratic soul and strength”.

    “Everyone accorded respect to the Indian representative, and it was not about Modi’s glory but about India’s strength,” he added.

    19 opposition political parties, including the Congress, have announced a boycott of the ceremony on May 28, demanding that President Droupadi Murmu and not Modi do the inauguration.

    “Congratulations to all #ExamWarriors who have passed in the Class X CBSE exams. Wishing them the very best for their upcoming endeavours. May they have a bright academic career and also pursue their other passions beyond the classroom,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
    Earlier in the day, he extended congratulatory messages to the students, who passed the Class XII examinations.

    In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said, “I congratulate all the #ExamWarriors who have successfully passed the CBSE Class XII examinations. I am proud of these youngsters for their hard work and determination. I also congratulate their parents and teachers for their monumental role in the success of the youngsters.”
    “I would like to tell those bright youngsters who feel they could have done better in the Class XII exams – you have so much more to look forward to in the coming times. One set of exams doesn’t define you. Harness your talents in areas you are passionate about. You will shine!” he added.
    The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday announced the results of class XII and class X final examinations. This year, class XII girls outshined boys by 6.01 per cent with 90.68 per cent.
    CBSE Class XII board exams were held in February, March and April. As many as 16,96,770 students were eligible to appear for these exams.
    Moreover, the overall pass percentage in Class X results this year is 93.12 per cent, which is 1.28 percentage points less than last year’s 94.40 per cent. (ANI)

The Chief Minister requested the Director General of Civil Aviation to renew the license of Naini Saini Airport, to get a no-objection certificate from NTRO for the expansion of Jollygrant Airport. Urged to direct the concerned for smooth operation of Dehradun-Pithoragarh-Hindon air service and Dehradun Haldwani-Pithoragarh Almora helicopter service.

    The Chief Minister said that a target has been set to increase the state’s gross domestic product to Rs 5.5 lakh crore in the next five years. It is proposed to organize an investment summit in the state in the month of October/November 2023 to attract investors in tourism, agriculture, industry, health, education and service sectors. The Chief Minister requested to be given time in the month of October/November 2023 for the inauguration of the said investment summit.

    The Chief Minister said that on the lines of the world famous Chardham, the Manaskhand Temple Mala Project has been started by the state government in Kumaon. Under this ambitious project, popularity will be given to the important mythological/historical places of Kumaon division by connecting them with the circuit so that pilgrims/tourists from the country and abroad can be attracted to come here and their journey can be made easy. The Chief Minister visited Jageshwar Dham, “Adi Kailash / Parvati Sarovar / Om Parvat” under Manaskhand, visited Mayawati Ashram, branch of Ramakrishna Math’s Advait Ashram in Lohaghat, as well as public address in border district Pithoragarh and dedication of various development schemes.     The Chief Minister said that a target has been set to develop about 5 to 7 new cities under the development of urban areas in the state, in which in the first phase there is a proposal to develop the city in the 2000-acre Parag Farm located in Kichha under Udham Singh Nagar. For this, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has been requested to provide funds of Rs.1000 crores. This green field city will be located on State Highway 47, just 15 km away from Rudrapur. The nearest railway station would be Pantnagar. From the point of view of economy, it will pass through the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor. It is proposed to develop a Knowledge Park of 200 to 250 acres near this proposed city. Private investment of about 7000 crores is expected on the development of this city, in which along with employment generation of 50 thousand people, housing arrangements for about two lakh people are possible. The Chief Minister also requested to release the required funds for the development of this green field city.
