    Naveen Patnaik inaugurated Bajra Shakti Cafe at Lok Seva Bhawan

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister inaugurated various people-centric projects including a Millet Shakti Cafe at Lok Seva Bhawan on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and Krushak Divas today.

    With the inauguration of the Millet Shakti Cafe at Lok Seva Bhawan, till now as many as 142 millet outlets have been opened across the state.

    The state government has implemented the Millet Mission after realising the importance of Mandia and other millet food grains in controlling malnutrition.

    Later, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Krushi Samiksha Kendra (KSK) virtually. The KSK, which is India’s first integrated command & control centre in the agriculture domain, has been set up under the 5T approach of the state government on the premises of Krushi Bhavan.

    Bhubaneswar: On the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday inaugurated the office of ruling party, aptly named Sankha Bhavan, at Unit-6 area in Odisha capital.

    Sankha (conch) is BJD’s election symbol.

    Dedicating the building to its 4.5 crore denizens, the CM said that Sankha Bhawan will be a confluence point for all those striving for development of the state and protecting it dignity while building a new and empowered Odisha. “This will unite 4.5 crore people of the state. All the programmes of Shankha Bhawan will be dedicated to people of Odisha and aimed at protecting the interest of the state.”

    He further said that 1997 heralded a new era in Odisha politics with the formation of BJD by following the principles of legendary Biju Patnaik. The party, which served the people of Odisha, has now been transformed into a social movement, he added.

    Naveen said that Shankha Bhavan will not only be the centre of social, economic, cultural, and political progress, but also spiritual growth rooted in the principle of Jagannath culture. “It will continue to spread Jagannath culture across the globe while sending out the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

    He attributed BJD’s success to consistency and peaceful disposition. “Righteousness has led to joy and peace to prosperity ,” he said, spelling out the success mantra of the party.

    Naveen Patnaik meets OFCH delegation, invites IOC President to visit Odisha

    Bhubaneswar: A team of delegates led by Director Olympic Foundation for culture and Heritage (OFCH) today met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discussed the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) being implemented in the state.

    The OFCH delegation included Angelita Teo, Director of Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage- International Olympic Committee, Frederique Jamolli, Head International Cultural Affairs, IOC, and Xenia Kourgouzova, Senior Manager Education, IOC and Olympian Abhinav Bindra, Founder, Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust.

    Welcoming the members, Chief Minister Patnaik applauded the effort of the IOC to promote the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) amongst the school students in Odisha, with focus on the values of Friendship, Excellence and Respect.

    The members appreciated the support extended by the Chief Minister and the Odisha Government in making this unique programme a success.

    Noteworthy, Odisha was the first state to implement OVEP in India and Chief Minister Patnaik had launched the initiative in May 2022. Since then 32000 young children have been impacted by this programme which was introduced in 90 schools across Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The program is all set to scale up and impact more than 1.5 lakh school children in 250 schools in Odisha.

    The Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage will be visiting the OVEP intervened school in Bhubaneswar on 3rd and 4th April, 2023.

    The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Odisha Department of School and Mass Education (SME) and the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust.

    The delegates were delighted by the decision of Chief Minister to support the Olympic Forest Network program of the IOC through more than 1 million trees plantation this year. The IOC had earlier announced its commitment to be climate positive in 2024 in alignment with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in April 2021.

    Chief Minister handed over the delegation a letter invitating the IOC President Thomas Bach to Odisha when he comes to India for the IOC session in Mumbai later this year in October.

    The delegation expressed its pleasure to see the support of the state government towards sports and promoting Olympic values. Chief Minister thanked them for their visit and committed on support for more such projects in Odisha.

    Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Ganjam tomorrow

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to visit Ganjam tomorrow on Sunday. After several visits to Western Odisha it seems now the focus has been shifted to Southern Odisha.

    As per reports, the CM will take part in three meetings in Kabisurya Nagar, Hinjili and Chhatrapur. All ministers and MLAs of Ganjam district will remain present in the meetings of the CM tomorrow. Patnaik himself represents from the Hinjili MLA constituency of Ganjam district. Besides, Odisha Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukh and Labour minister Srikanta Sahu hail from Ganjam.

    There are 12 MLAs from this district in the Assembly. Similarly, two MPS, one each from Aska and Berhampur constituencies are from this district. Hence, the visit of the CM tomorrow is much important.

    Last year the CM had visited the famous Maa Taratarini Pitha in Ganjam. This year he has visited western Odisha six times so far. Besides, he had visited Padampur on Dec 1.

    Ahead of the CM’s Ganjam visit tomorrow, the preparation work by the district administration has reached the final stage. The CM is scheduled to inaugurate a slew of projects in three blocks of the district during this visit tomorrow. He will also provide funding to the Mission Shakti groups.

    Tomorrow at 10.15 the CM will set out from Bhubaneswar in a helicopter for Ganjam. After reaching Ganjam he will inaugurate a number of projects in Kabisuryanagar at 11 am. He will also lay foundation stones of a few projects. The CM will also provide funding to Mission Shakti women members there and is scheduled to distribute RoR to the landless beneficiaries.

    Later he will participate in a public meeting at 12.10 in Hinjilicut and later at 3.20 he will address the gatherin in Chhatrapur.

    About 48 platoons of Police will be deployed for the CM’s visit. The district collector and SP have taken stock of the preparation work for the visit.

    West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will leave for a tour of Odisha today (Tuesday) evening. She will take night rest in Bhubaneswar Bhubaneswar. The next day she will go to Puri to visit Lord Jagannath. On Thursday, she will meet Biju Janata Dal President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar Bhubaneswar. There is a possibility of discussion on the third front between the two. Mamta wants a new front to be formed with like-minded parties keeping distance from BJP and Congress.

    Earlier, she has met Samajwadi Party President and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in this regard in Kolkata. Along with Mamata Banerjee, officials of the Public Works Department are also going to Odisha. The Chief Minister will inspect the possible land for the government guest house around Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri. The eyes of political observers are now fixed on the meeting of Mamta-Naveen. It is understood that both the leaders can address a joint press conference after the meeting.
