Nitish Kumar’s party is going to break, many JDU leaders are in touch with BJP: Sushil Modi

New Delhi (IANS). After Maharashtra, the situation of rebellion is visible in Bihar as well. This claim has been made by former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Sushil Modi said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party JDU is in rebellion and many JDU MLAs and MPs are in touch with the BJP.

He claimed that there is going to be a stampede in JDU and there is going to be a big break.

Sushil Modi said that the Nitish Kumar who did not even give time to his MLAs and MPs to meet them, made them wait for a whole year, the same Nitish Kumar is now meeting the MLAs and MPs of the party.

Taking a sarcasm, he said that Nitish Kumar, who did not meet MLAs and MPs of his own party during the last 17 years, is now meeting them for half an hour.

He further said that ever since Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has accepted Rahul Gandhi as his leader and has made Tejashwi Yadav his successor, since then the situation of rebellion in his party JDU had arisen.

Completely ruling out the possibility of Nitish Kumar returning to NDA, he said that there is no question of Nitish Kumar returning to NDA. BJP has carried Nitish Kumar for 17 years and now he will not return to NDA.

  • Strict action to be taken against those found guilty in bridge collapse: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Strict action to be taken against those found guilty in bridge collapse: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

    By PTI
    PATNA:
A day after the collapse of an under-construction bridge over the Ganga river in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said strict action would be taken against those found guilty in the incident.

He also said the bridge that collapsed on Sunday had also caved in last year.

“The bridge is not being constructed properly and that is why it collapsed twice since April 2022. It’s a serious matter. The department concerned has already initiated a thorough probe into it. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” Kumar said while talking to reporters here.

He also wondered why the bridge construction work that started in 2014 has not been completed so far.

“Why is it running behind the schedule? I have asked the department concerned to probe this also. The deputy CM is also monitoring the developments,” Kumar said.

The 3.16-km bridge being built since 2014 collapsed twice in 14 months – first on the Bhagalpur’s Sultanganj side in April 2022 and the second time on Sunday evening on the Khagaria side.

The incident attracted public outrage, prompting the Chief Minister to order an investigation with instructions to punish those guilty for the disaster.

Immediately after the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who also holds the portfolio of the Road Construction Department, on Sunday said that the state government was planning to demolish the under-construction bridge because of structural flaws.

“It may be recalled that a portion of this bridge had collapsed on April 30 last year. We had, thereafter, approached IIT-Roorkee, which is esteemed for its expertise in construction matters, to conduct a study. It is yet to come up with a final report but experts who had studied the structure had informed us that there were serious defects,” Yadav had said.

“Last year, a portion of this bridge had been given away in a thunderstorm, when the BJP was in power in the state. It was an incident which was widely talked about and I strongly raised it in my capacity as the then Leader of the Opposition. Upon coming to power, we ordered an inquiry and sought expert opinion,” said Yadav, in an apparent riposte to the BJP, now in opposition, which sought the CM’s resignation over the issue.

At least 30 slabs placed on three pillars of the four-lane Sultanganj-Aguani Ghat bridge caved in and fell on the river on Sunday. No casualties were reported in the incident, the district administration said. The bridge was said to have involved an estimated cost of Rs 1,700 crore.

A Haryana-based company has got the contract for the construction of the bridge, against which the BJP is now seeking action.

The bridge would be the sixth on the Ganga river to connect northern Bihar with its south, reducing travel time to Sultanagnj, Khagaria, Saharsa, Madhepura and Supaul.

Patna: HAM chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, who met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday, claimed that he will stay with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar till the last breath of his life and there is no chance of him going into the NDA.

Manjhi met Amit Shah to demand Bharat Ratna for mountain man Dashrath Manjhi.

“There is no chance of going into the NDA. I have taken an oath to stay with Nitish Kumar till the last breath. Nitish Kumar has all the ability of a Prime Minister and he is making honest efforts to unite the opposition parties of the country.

“How could we go with the BJP which has only one ideology – to destroy smaller parties of the country? We have a small party in Bihar and it is not possible to go with them,” Manjhi said.

For the demand of Bharat Ratna for Dashrath Manjhi, a delegation had started a Padyatra from his native village Gahlor in Gaya district on March 5 this year and reached Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on April 1.

Nitish Kumar Urges Centre To Provide More COVID Vaccine Doses

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday urged the Centre to provide fresh stocks of COVID vaccine vials so that administering of jabs, which is currently on hold, could be resumed.

Talking to reporters here on the sidelines of a function, he also asserted that his government was “alert” in view of rising incidence of COVID cases in some parts of the country, though Bihar was not one of them.

“Our testing rate is much higher than the national average, which is six lakh tests per one million people. We are conducting eight lakh tests. Bihar accounts for about one fourth of the total number of tests conducted across the country”, claimed Kumar.

He underscored that the current spike was noticed in those parts of the country which were the worst affected when the coronavirus had caused a global pandemic.

“In Bihar cases are very few but we are alert, nonetheless. In places like hospitals wearing of masks is being reinforced. We were also carrying out vaccination till our supply dried up. We hope the Centre would do the needful soon”, added Kumar.

The JD(U) leader also took a veiled dig at his former ally BJP when he was asked about riots in some parts of the state during Ram Navami festivities.

“All the guilty would be exposed and brought to book. In 2018, we did not spare even the son of a Union minister”, said Kumar, referring to Ashwini Choubey’s son Arijit Shashwat who was arrested in connection with riots that had then erupted in Bhagalpur.

Sushil Modi’s advice to Nitish Kumar, dream of becoming the President of America

Patna (IANS)| A day after a picture of ‘Red Fort’ was put up for Nitish Kumar at an Iftar party, senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi suggested him to dream big and stand in front of the White House banner. He sarcastically said, “His supporters believe that he has become the President of the USA.” Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended an Iftar party in Patna’s Phulwarisharif area, where host JD-U MLC Khalid Anwar put a picture of the Red Fort on the stage on Monday.

Modi said, “Nitish Kumar is in a strange position. He claimed that he has no desire to become the Prime Minister of the country and on the other hand he asked his supporters to make posters and banners. Asked to raise the slogan ‘Ho, Nitish Kumar Jaisa Ho’.”

He further said, “There is no such chance as of now. A person with only 44 MLAs sometimes sits on the shoulders of the BJP and sometimes becomes the Chief Minister sitting on the shoulders of the RJD and if that person starts dreaming of the prime minister’s post then it is ridiculous.” “

The BJP leader said, “Who is giving importance to Nitish Kumar in Delhi? On Monday, the DMK had organized a conference on the issue of social justice and invited Tejashwi Yadav as one of the speakers. The leader was also not invited. He was saying that there will be discussion on opposition unity after the end of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. It’s been more than a month now but there is no communication from his side till now and It won’t even come in the future.”

  • PM Modi to address 20 rallies in Karnataka ahead of elections

PM Modi to address 20 rallies in Karnataka ahead of elections

Bengaluru (IANS) | Prime Minister Narendra Modi may address a total of 20 public meetings in a span of 30 days in Karnataka ahead of the May 10 assembly elections, a source said on Tuesday. The source said the Prime Minister’s visits before the announcement of the assembly election date helped the party gain momentum. His public rallies and roadshows attracted a large number of people and also helped the party, said a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) source.

On April 9, on the occasion of completion of 50 years of Project Tiger, the Prime Minister will visit Karnataka for the seventh time. However, opposition Congress leaders have dubbed PM Modi a poll agent for his excessive visits to Karnataka. On this, a BJP source said that Modi’s visits have been successful in strengthening the BJP wave and defeating the anti-incumbency wave.

However, the arrest of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa in a bribery case has jolted the party. For this reason, the venue of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally was changed from Davangere district. Another source said the party wanted to launch a high-voltage campaign ahead of the polls to put the episode behind it.

According to a party insider, PM Modi is expected to address 20 public meetings in a span of one month. BJP sources said the prime minister’s rallies would also focus on constituencies where the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular are strong.
