    Odisha: Banking Assistant under vigilance scanner in Nuapada

    Nuapada: The banking assistant of Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank is under Odisha vigilance scanner over alleged allegation of acquisition of disproportionate assets.

    The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Chandrakar. He is the banking assistant of Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank of Koma Branch in Odisha’s Nuapada district.According to sources, simultaneous house searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance led by  three DSPs, 3 Inspectors and other staffs. The raid is being conducted on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge,Vigilance, Bhawanipatna. The searches are being conducted at the following four places.1.Residential double storyed house of Chandrakar situated at village Beltukuri, Dist- Nuapada.

    2.Another Double storyed building situated over plinth area of approx 3000 Sq.ft at Beltukuri, Dist- Nuapada.

    3.One under construction House over plinth area of approx. 3000 Sq.Ft. at Beltukuri, Dist- Nuapada.

    4.Office room of Pradeep Kumar Chandrakar at Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank, Komna.

    Nuapada: PMAY Technical Consultant falls in vigilance trap; Arrested

    Nuapada: Technical Consultant of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) section of Khariar was arrested after being caught red handed while taking bribe. The consultant was caught red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 10, 000 from a PMAY beneficiary.

    The accused has been identified as Dev Chandan Rout. He is a Technical Consultant (Jr.Engineer) of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) Section of Khariar NAC in Nuapada district.

    Dev Chandan was caught red-handed while accepting bribe Rs.10,000/-  from a PMAY beneficiary for submission of completion certificate and facilitating release of final bill  under PMAY-Urban  Scheme to the beneficiary.

    The entire tainted money has been recovered and seized from the possession of accused Dev Chandan.

    Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations of the accused in Nuapada district from DA angle.

    Earlier today, the banking assistant of Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank identified as Pradeep Kumar Chandrakar was under Odisha vigilance scanner over alleged allegation of acquisition of disproportionate assets.

    Leopard attacks after a week, kills another calf in Nuapada

    Nuapada: The leopard, which has created havoc in the villages around Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha’s Nuapada district, killed another calf late Saturday night.

    As per reports, Arjun Dharua of Belardana village under Komna range in the district, had kept the calf in his cow shed on Saturday night. But he found it missing next morning. During search, Arjun found the carcass of the missing calf inside Bangaghati forest.

    On being informed, a team of forest officials visited the village and started an investigation into the incident. They have examined the pug marks found from the place where the calf’s body was found.

    The villagers of Belardana suspected that the same leopard, which has hunted several cattle in nearby villages, had killed the calf.

    Notably, a leopard had killed the calf of a villager of Kodapali under Dharambandha police limits while it was grazing in the nearby forest on March 25. Later, during investigation, forest officials had found pug marks of a wild animal.

    As many as 15 domestic animals and an elderly woman have been killed by leopard in the district in the last one month. Over six domestic animals and a woman, identified as Sanamati Barik (65), of Jalamadhei village under Komna block have fallen victim to the big cat.

    Tiger terror in Nuapada, people warned on PA system

    Nuapada: Tiger attacks in Nuapada has led to terror among villagers. The Forest Department on Saturday has cautioned the locals using a PA system.

    The Forest Department reached the village and recorded the footprints of the predator. The Department has cautioned that there are two tigers in the area.

    According to reports, it has been alleged that a calf of Mohradihi village was killed and eaten by a tiger in Nuapada district of Odisha.

    During the day, the predator lives in the protected forest adjacent to the Sunabeda Sanctuary. In the evening, the villagers have complained that the cows are being eaten by the tiger and the carcasses of the cattle are strewn in the forest floor area.

    A scary incident had taken place in Nuapada district of Odisha on Sunday evening. An old woman was attacked by a tiger behind her house on March 20, 2023.

    The incident took place in Jalamdei village under Komna police station under Sunabeda sanctuary of Nuapada district. The woman has been identified as Sanmati Barik, she is said to be around 65 years of age.

    According to information, yesterday evening, while collecting firewood in the backyard of her house in Jalamdei village, a tiger came and pounced on her. As she did not return home until late at night, the family searched for him but could not find her.

    The local people found the old woman’s dismembered body lying in the forest this morning. Half of the old woman’s body was seen eaten by a tiger. This could have been the work of a large tiger, said Sunabeda forest department ranger Shiva Prasad Khamari informed.
