    Clothes worth Rs.50lakh reduced to ashes in Odisha!

    Aul: There has been a massive fire in a clothes bazaar in Aul of Kendrapara district in Odisha on Wednesday, said reliable reports.

    According to reliable reports, a fire broke out and burnt clothes worth almost half a crore of rupees. A fire occurred in the ‘New Trend’ cloth store in Nua bazaar area of Kendrapada district.

    The fire was reported in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Seeing the clothes store burn and the smoke bellowing out of the window the local people immediately informed the fire department of Aul.

    The fire was brought under control after tireless efforts of the fire fighters and the locals. The fire was so fierce that the cloth items inside the shop were reduced to ashes. The loss is estimated to be around Rs. 50 lakh.

    Along with this, as many as 30 LED TVs of a nearby electrical shop which were stored in the dress shop were also burnt to ashes completely.

    Property worth more than 50 lakh rupees has been destroyed due to the fire, said reliable reports. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

    Family planning operation on woman without permission in Odisha

    Keonjhar: There have been allegations of a family planning surgery on a pregnant woman without her or the family’s consent in Keonjhar district of Odisha. The incident took place in the Maternal and Child Care Department of the Keonjhar District Headquarter Hospital (DHH).

    According to the complaint on Sunday night, a man identified as Sushant Kumar Barik had admitted his wife identified as Pabitrani Behera of Jhumpura Khendra area. She was allegedly having pre-delivery pain and later gave birth to a son through a cesarean section.

    After a while, Sushant was then asked to sign the papers related to his wife family planning surgery. He was shocked to receive these papers. When he refused to sign it, the doctor on duty identified as Abhijit Mohapatra scolded him and handed him over to the town police station.

    On the other hand, the doctor has completely denied these allegations. The doctor further clarified that Sushant’s wife agreed to the birth control surgery (family planning operation) and signed it herself.

    The doctor also further added that that he had been abused by Sushant as he was in an intoxicated state when he was asked to sign the form. The police is investigating into the matter. Further detailed report awaited in this case.

    Illegal feticide in Cuttack, raids underway by Odisha H&FW dept

    Cuttack: A raid in underway on an illegal determination of sex of the fetus center in Cuttack said reliable reports on Wednesday.

    According to reports, the center was being run in Friends Colony area of Cuttack city in Odisha. The Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha got a tip-off in this matter and conducted a raid.

    The illegal clinic was being run from a house in Friends Colony area of Cuttack. The center was allegedly helping people determine the gender of the unborn child (fetus). There are allegations that feticides was also being done.

    It is further worth mentioning that the doctor who was running this illegal center has been detained by the Health and Family Welfare Department and police raid team.

    Furthermore according to the laws of India determination of sex of the fetus is illegal. The parliament has enacted the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994 to prevent determination of sex of fetus before birth.

    This was done to help reduce the number of female feticides in India and to help better the sex ratio in the counrty.

    Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Bhatli MLA Sushant Singh has been given the responsibility of as many as nine western Odisha districts.

    After being appointed as the in-charge of nine western Odisha districts the MLA said that BJD will win all the five Lok Sabha seats in Western Odisha in 2024 elections.

    The MLA further added that the party will also win 31 Assembly seats out of 35 in West Odisha. Bhatli MLA Sushant Singh made this assertion.

    Today, Singh met BJD organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das at the newly-built Shankha Bhawan and was given this news responsibility.

    Further it is worth mentioning that Sushant Singh said, he was not hopeful for the post of minister hence he is not unhappy. The opposition is spreading rumors. He added that the Chief Minister blessings are on him.

    Earlier on Tuesday evening, Sushant Singh met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen’s residence that is Naveen Niwas.

    Cuttack: The Odisha Matric Supplementary exam shall be held from July 3 to July 8 informed the Board of Secondary Education Odisha on Wednesday.

    This year, the form-filling up process for the Odisha Matric supplementary examination will start from June 26 and will continue till July 1, said the Board in a presser.

    The rechecking of the Odisha Matric exam answer sheets has been started from May 23 informed the BSE Odisha. The students can apply for rechecking from May 23 to May 25, 2023.

    The online application facility has been made available for fresh HSC students. The Madhyama Sanskrit and State Open School Certificate (SSC) students can apply offline.

    The information regarding the rechecking of Odisha matric exam has been provided by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha.

    The Odisha Matric Supplementary exam results will be out in two months, said reports. The result of the Odisha matric exams 2023 had been published on May 18. It is worth mentioning that the pass percentage is 96.4%.

    Similarly the State Open School Certificate (SOSC) exam and the Madhyama Exam 2023 had also been announced on the same date.

    However, the result have been made available online on the website from 12 pm onwards, informed the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha today.

    This year a total of 5 lakh 41 thousand and 247 candidates appeared for the Matric examination in Odisha. The valuation of the Matric, SOSC and Madhyama exams had been started on April 3.

    Cuttack: On Wednesday, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha announced some important information regarding the pattern of examination for Class IX and X. The pattern of the examinations for classes 9th and 10th (Matric) in Odisha will be changed, informed BSE, Odisha President Ramasish Hazra in a press meet today.

    As per the information, henceforth there will not be two Assessment tests. However, the old pattern will be resumed. Accordingly, now an annual examination will be conducted at the end of the academic year for the Matriculation (Class 10) examination.

    However, the internal assessment system will continue. There will be four internal assessment examinations. That means, 3-monthly examinations will be conducted.

    This arrangement will be applicable to the High Schools and to the Madhyama also.

    The Board (BSE) will not conduct any examination in Class IX. Only the Board will provide question papers for the year-end examination. The Board will send these question papers to the District Education Officers (DEOs). They will provide the same to the schools. This has been done to maintain equality.

    There will be a half-yearly examination for class 10 (Matric). The Board will provide the question papers for this examination.

    The BSE also informed that the supplementary examination system will also continue. For the current year, the form fill-up process will commence on May 26 to continue till June 1 for this exam. The supplementary exam will be conducted between July 3 and July 8.

    Bhubaneswar: As many as 18 candidates from Odisha have cracked the Civil Services Exam 2022, results of which were declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Including the 18 from Odisha as many as 933 candidates across the country have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.

    With 38th All India Rank (AIR), Anup Das is the state topper. He was followed by Pranati Dash and Kasturi Panda, who secured 42nd AIR and 67th AIR respectively.

    Man hacks mother to death in Odisha’s Paradip!

    Paradip: In an inhuman incident, a man hacked his mother to death with a sharp weapon in Bhutamundai village near the outskirts of Paradip. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. The man has been arrested by police.

    According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Sulochana and the accused has been identified as Anshuman. The mother and son performed the death anniversary of Sulochana’s mother yesterday. All the friends and family attended the death anniversary feast.

    Everything went smoothly and the relatives and others returned to their home late last night. However, the next day, Sulochana’s son allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon and killed her while she was getting ready in the early morning.

    Sulochana worked as a teacher in Srima Govt. High School. Her son Anshuman used to brings her to school every day. The police is investigating the case and trying to know why did he killed his mother so suddenly.

    Government to give free crop insurance to farmers in Odisha for 3yrs

    Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government announced that it will provide free crop insurance to all farmers in the state for the next three years. Odisha is the first state in the country to provide free crop insurance to farmers.

    Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare of Odisha Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak made the announcement after a review of his department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

    As many as 1,451 new Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) have been formed to further extend short-term loans to the farmers

    The Department would bear the premium of the insurance from the 2023 Kharif season to the 2025-26 Rabi season. Short terms agriculture loans are being provided at low interest rates to the farmers.

    Furthermore, the state government has increased the interest-free loan cap from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Under the scheme, more than 7 lakh small and marginal farmers have been provided loans, amounting to Rs 16,683.57 crore during the 2022-23 financial year, the Minister informed.

    Vande Bharat Launch: Odisha CM Seeks 2 More Semi High-Speed Trains, Puri-Konark New Rail Line

    Puri: Even as Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishaw hinted at introduction of second Vande Bharat on Puri-Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Angul-Rourkela route, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday suggested several new projects for Odisha, including two more semi high-speed trains, during the launch of Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express here.

    “I would take this opportunity to request the Prime Minister for introduction of a Vande Bharat Express train between Puri and Rourkela connecting Sambalpur and another connecting Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad which will facilitate faster movement of passengers between these important cities, for the benefit of our aspiring people,” the CM said.

    He said introduction of Vande Bharat is one step closer towards realisation of the Bullet train dream. “I am sure, with your leadership, we should soon have our own Bullet trains.”

    Regarding Shree Jagannath International Airport, Naveen said that he had a detailed discussion on the proposed airport in Puri. “We will incorporate all the suggestions given by the Prime Minister for making it a world class sea-side airport. He hoped that with the cooperation and support of the PM, this airport will be ready within 3 to 4 years, and he will come to Shreekhetra to dedicate it.”

    Further, he also requested sanctioning of Puri-Konark new railway line. “State of Odisha offers 50 percent of construction cost and entire land cost for the project, making it extremely profitable for Railways,” he informed.

    Stating that Odisha has always been very proactive in supporting railway projects, he said that people of the state have willingly pledged their invaluable land for the development of railway, hoping that these projects will offer them many new economic avenues.

    The CM also requested for early introduction of passenger services in both Angul-Sukinda line and Haridaspur-Paradip line to meet the aspirations of the people of these districts.

    Addressing the gathering at Puri railway station ahead of the flagging-off ceremony of Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express, Vishnaw said that another semi high-speed train is likely to run on Puri-Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Angul-Rourkela route. Vande Sleeper and Vande Metro will also be launched in Odisha, he added.

    Notably, Commerce & Transport Minister Tukusi Sahu had written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking introduction of the semi-high speed train on 2 routes – Puri and Rourkela connecting Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar-Hyderabad – ahead of Puri-Howrah trail run on April 28.
