    Odisha Plus 2 admission to start from May 29, classes from July 29

    Bhubaneswar: The process of the Odisha Plus 2 admissions will begin soon informed the Higher Education Department of Odisha.

    The online application process for Odisha Plus 2 admissions will commence through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal on May 29, 2023.

    It is worth mentioning that the last date for submission of application for Odisha Plus 2 admissions is June 20.

    Furthermore, the first merit list is to be published on June 28, 2023 Higher Education Department of Odisha.

    The department further said that the classes of Odisha Plus 2 will commence on July 29, 2023.

    In keeping with the high pass percentage of students who have passed in Odisha Matric exams this year, the number of Plus 2 seats has also been increased.

    The School and Mass Education Department of the Government of Odisha has decided to upgrade schools in various districts of the State and increase the number of Plus 2 seats.

    The Department has published an official notification in this regard. It has prepared an exhaustive list of the schools that have been upgraded and posted it on twitter.

    Odisha CM reviews activities of Forest Department

    Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the achievements of the major projects of the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department of the last four years in the 3rd floor Conference Hall of Lokaseva Bhawan today.

    After the review meeting Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Pradip Kumar Amat said that under the State Government Manifesto-2019 commitment, 49 eco-tourism sites have been developed and made operational and 6 more new sites are under pipeline. Local communities of 650 villages of the state have been directly involved in the said projects in which annual revenue generation of 13 crore rupees has been made possible.

    Under 5T charters the Department has done amendment of Odisha Forest Department code, development of eco-tourism, development of natural parks in Bharatpur and Chandka sanctuaries, prevention of human-elephant conflict, crackdown on single use of plastic, establishment of 14000 hectares land bank etc. have been successfully completed, stated Minister Amat.

    The Department has successfully implemented major projects and increased 537 square km of forest cover and 356 square km of tree cover in the State which increased in the forest cover of 33.5% and the tree cover of 36.71% of the total geographically area of the State and ranks 3rd and 2nd respectively in the entire Country. Also, Odisha has ranked the first place due to the increase of Mangrove forest of 8 square km in the entire country, he informed.

    As a successful implementation of the afforestation program, a total of 371,163 hectares of plantation has been done in the state including 16,346 running km of Avenue Plantation and during this time 14.4 crore saplings have been planted and 11.04 crore saplings distributed.

    A total of 61,204 square km area of the state has been surveyed under Geo-referencing with the joint efforts of the Forest and Revenue Department. Till today, a re-notification of 265 forest blocks have been issued. Our State stands first in the country for such Geo-referencing survey.

    As many as 820 families have been voluntarily relocated from the areas of National Park and sanctuaries by providing an additional grant of Rs 5.00 lakhs over and above the provisions of NTCA guidelines in which the Shimilipal Tiger Project of the state has been placed in the Excellent Category of the country.

    With the orders of the Chief Minister, the amount of compensation for the victims of human-wildlife conflict has been increased significantly. It has been notified for compassionate grant Rs 6.00 lakhs for human kill, Rs 1.5 lakhs for less than 60% of physical injured, Rs 2.5 lakhs for more than 60% of physical injured, Rs 5000 to 10,000 for treatment of the injured. Besides, Rs.37,500 for death of cow, Rs.32,000 for death of ox/bull, from Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 per acre for crop damage, allotment of Biju Pakka Ghara or equivalent + Rs.20,000 additional amount for full damage house and Rs 10,000 for partially damaged house.

    Very recently, as per the kind announcement of the Chief Minister, Odisha, a Notification has been issued to provide assistance amounting to Rs.194 crore to the Kendu Leaf beneficiaries which has been benefited 7.75 lakhs kendu Leaf pluckers and 40,000 binders and seasonal staff. Total financial support in the 2022 crop year is a record amount of Rs 194 crore.

    In the financial year 2023-24, a new scheme namely “Mukhyamantri Kendu Leaf Welfare Fund with a budgetary provision of Rs.50 crore has been introduced to reimburse the cost due to imposition of GST on Kendu Leaf trade.

    Odisha Forest Development Society (OFSDS) has implemented Ama Jungle Yojana (AJY), Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project-II, OMBADC Livelihood Development Project, etc.

    Under the said project, 6016 Vana Surakhya Samiti (VSS), 21273 Self Help Groups (SHG) and CIGs are working and are sustaining their livelihood.

    Odisha Biodiversity Board has been established and already 7256 numbers of Biodiversity Committees have been formed at Gram Panchayat level. In the year 2022-23, Mahendragiri and Gandhamardan hill have been declared as Biodiversity Heritage Sites.

    Further, Kenduleaf ex-gratia sanctioned is record high in a Kenduleaf crop year. The convergence of other Development schemes with Ama Jungle Yojana other departments is commendable. Department proactively facilitating developmental projects duly ensuring mitigative measures, expressed Shri Amat in the Press Conference.

    As per Chief Minister direction, Bhitarkanika, Chilika, Similipal, Chandaka and Bharatpur wildlife sanctuary to be developed with visible improvement with best wildlife sites and tourists destinations. Adequate ongoing efforts to develop Nandankanan Zoological Park as a world class zoo. Eco-tourism to be developed further with community involvement. With the own cost, the State Government will do population estimation of tiger and elephant in the Odisha, signed off Minister Amat.

    Two including police officer killed, ASI injured in an accident in Odisha’s Boudh

    Boudh: In an unfortunate incident, two people including a police officer was killed and other two were injured on Wednesday after a Bolero collided head-on with a truck in Boudh district of Odisha. The accident took place near Kamalpur chaak.

    According to reports, a team of Baunsuni police of Boudh district was returning from Cuttack to Baunsuni after completing a rescue operation when a truck coming from the direction of Sonepur collided with the bolero they were riding in. After the collision, the bolero turned turned on the spot. The deceased home guard has been identified as Jagannath Meher.

    A police home guard and the bolero driver were killed on the spot in the accident while an ASI and another home guard sustained critical injuries.

    The injured cops have been admitted in the Boudh hospital for treatment. More details awaited.

    Clothes worth Rs.50lakh reduced to ashes in Odisha!

    Aul: There has been a massive fire in a clothes bazaar in Aul of Kendrapara district in Odisha on Wednesday, said reliable reports.

    According to reliable reports, a fire broke out and burnt clothes worth almost half a crore of rupees. A fire occurred in the ‘New Trend’ cloth store in Nua bazaar area of Kendrapada district.

    The fire was reported in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Seeing the clothes store burn and the smoke bellowing out of the window the local people immediately informed the fire department of Aul.

    The fire was brought under control after tireless efforts of the fire fighters and the locals. The fire was so fierce that the cloth items inside the shop were reduced to ashes. The loss is estimated to be around Rs. 50 lakh.

    Along with this, as many as 30 LED TVs of a nearby electrical shop which were stored in the dress shop were also burnt to ashes completely.

    Property worth more than 50 lakh rupees has been destroyed due to the fire, said reliable reports. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

    Family planning operation on woman without permission in Odisha

    Keonjhar: There have been allegations of a family planning surgery on a pregnant woman without her or the family’s consent in Keonjhar district of Odisha. The incident took place in the Maternal and Child Care Department of the Keonjhar District Headquarter Hospital (DHH).

    According to the complaint on Sunday night, a man identified as Sushant Kumar Barik had admitted his wife identified as Pabitrani Behera of Jhumpura Khendra area. She was allegedly having pre-delivery pain and later gave birth to a son through a cesarean section.

    After a while, Sushant was then asked to sign the papers related to his wife family planning surgery. He was shocked to receive these papers. When he refused to sign it, the doctor on duty identified as Abhijit Mohapatra scolded him and handed him over to the town police station.

    On the other hand, the doctor has completely denied these allegations. The doctor further clarified that Sushant’s wife agreed to the birth control surgery (family planning operation) and signed it herself.

    The doctor also further added that that he had been abused by Sushant as he was in an intoxicated state when he was asked to sign the form. The police is investigating into the matter. Further detailed report awaited in this case.

    Illegal feticide in Cuttack, raids underway by Odisha H&FW dept

    Cuttack: A raid in underway on an illegal determination of sex of the fetus center in Cuttack said reliable reports on Wednesday.

    According to reports, the center was being run in Friends Colony area of Cuttack city in Odisha. The Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha got a tip-off in this matter and conducted a raid.

    The illegal clinic was being run from a house in Friends Colony area of Cuttack. The center was allegedly helping people determine the gender of the unborn child (fetus). There are allegations that feticides was also being done.

    It is further worth mentioning that the doctor who was running this illegal center has been detained by the Health and Family Welfare Department and police raid team.

    Furthermore according to the laws of India determination of sex of the fetus is illegal. The parliament has enacted the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994 to prevent determination of sex of fetus before birth.

    This was done to help reduce the number of female feticides in India and to help better the sex ratio in the counrty.

    Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Bhatli MLA Sushant Singh has been given the responsibility of as many as nine western Odisha districts.

    After being appointed as the in-charge of nine western Odisha districts the MLA said that BJD will win all the five Lok Sabha seats in Western Odisha in 2024 elections.

    The MLA further added that the party will also win 31 Assembly seats out of 35 in West Odisha. Bhatli MLA Sushant Singh made this assertion.

    Today, Singh met BJD organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das at the newly-built Shankha Bhawan and was given this news responsibility.

    Further it is worth mentioning that Sushant Singh said, he was not hopeful for the post of minister hence he is not unhappy. The opposition is spreading rumors. He added that the Chief Minister blessings are on him.

    Earlier on Tuesday evening, Sushant Singh met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen’s residence that is Naveen Niwas.

    Odisha: Mundali tollgate closed until further notice after violence

    Athagarh: The Mundali tollgate has been closed until further notice following reports of major violence said reliable reports on Wednesday.

    The visuals of the brawl and the assault have been widely shared on various social media handles. Reports say that, some tourists from Chhattisgarh were allegedly attacked by the staff of the Mundali tollgate.

    It is worth mentioning that a fight broke out all of a sudden between tourists and the Mundali toll gate staff over the payment of fees.

    There were two buses full of tourists allegedly from the neighbouring state of Chhattisgarh. as many as 11 tourists and three toll gate staff have been reportedly injured in the horrible fight that ensued due to some disagreement.

    Furthermore it is worth reporting that, some women and children have also sustained injuries in the group clash. Further, it is worth informing here that as many as four persons have been detained in this connection.

    Keeping in mind the violence that ensued yesterday at the toll plaza, the Government of Odisha has decided that the Mundali tollgate shall be locked down until further orders.

    The Sub-Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Athagarh Hemanta Kumar Swain said the matter shall be investigated and strict action shall be taken in this regard.

    Bhubaneswar: The Mo Bus transport facility will be provided in rural areas under Laxmi scheme said reliable reports on Wednesday. In the first phase, buses will ply in six districts, said the Transport Secretary Usha Padhee in a press meeting earlier today.

    In the first phase the busses will be rolled out in three districts namely: Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada, it shall be a pilot run informed the Transport Secretary Usha Padhee.

    Earlier today, the Chief Minister reviewed the targets and achievements of the Panchayati Raj and
    Drinking Water Department during last four years and the fulfillment of the assurances given in the election manifesto.

    The report said that, more than 11 lakh houses have been provided to the rural families in the last four years. Moreover, nearly Rs 2150 crore has been provided for repair.

    The department has undertaken an ambitious program of connection to each rural houses with a provision of 70 liters per capita mega projects as well as 13000 undertaken with a massive investment of Rs. 57000 crore.

    As many as 14,000 WSHGs have been involved collaboration with Mission Shakti Around 800 WSHG members etc. and Rs. 1065.00 crore have been paid to them in the form of income or service charge.

    The goal of empowerment of youth through skill development and has been achieved by training as many as 82,000 youths in four years.

    The sports infrastructure and the schools have been considerably transformed in the various panchayats of Odisha, read the report.

    Odisha Matric Supplementary exam from July 3, 2023

    Cuttack: The Odisha Matric Supplementary exam shall be held from July 3 to July 8 informed the Board of Secondary Education Odisha on Wednesday.

    This year, the form-filling up process for the Odisha Matric supplementary examination will start from June 26 and will continue till July 1, said the Board in a presser.

    The rechecking of the Odisha Matric exam answer sheets has been started from May 23 informed the BSE Odisha. The students can apply for rechecking from May 23 to May 25, 2023.

    The online application facility has been made available for fresh HSC students. The Madhyama Sanskrit and State Open School Certificate (SSC) students can apply offline.

    The information regarding the rechecking of Odisha matric exam has been provided by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha.

    The Odisha Matric Supplementary exam results will be out in two months, said reports. The result of the Odisha matric exams 2023 had been published on May 18. It is worth mentioning that the pass percentage is 96.4%.

    Similarly the State Open School Certificate (SOSC) exam and the Madhyama Exam 2023 had also been announced on the same date.

    However, the result have been made available online on the website from 12 pm onwards, informed the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha today.

    This year a total of 5 lakh 41 thousand and 247 candidates appeared for the Matric examination in Odisha. The valuation of the Matric, SOSC and Madhyama exams had been started on April 3.
