    Odisha Vigilance Arrests ACSO For Having Assets 139% Higher Than Known Sources Of Income

    Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has arrested an Additional Civil Supplies Officer in Odisha’s Ganjam district for having properties of 139% higher than his known sources of income.

    On the complaint of disproportionate assets, the Vigilance officials conducted a raid on the properties of Sanjay Kumar Sahu, Additional Civil Supplies Officer of Bhanjanagar in the district. During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets were unearthed in the name of Sahu and his family members:

    1) 3-BHK Flat No.601, 6th floor, Khetrabasi Residency and K&K-Plaza, Patia-22, Bhubaneswar.
    2) 3-BHK Flat No.304, Block-G at De-Habitat-2, Shree Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
    3) One building at Housing board, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
    4) 3 Plots in and around, Bhubaneswar.
    5) Bank, Postal and Insurance deposits of over Rs 21.57 lakh.
    6) Gold jewellery of 200 gm.
    7) 1 four-wheeler worth Rs 13.19 lakh.
    8) 2 two-wheelers and household articles worth approximately Rs 8 lakh.

    After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sahu were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 139% higher than his known sources of income.

    As Sahu could not account for his assets satisfactorily, he was arrested by Vigilance and forwarded to the court for possession of disproportionate properties. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance filed a case against Sahu under PC Amendment Act, 2018.

    Sonepur: Odisha Vigilance today arrested a Head Clerk along with another person for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe). The arrested persons have been identified as Siba Prasad Guru alias Bhikari Guru, the Head Clerk of the office of Sub-Registrar in Tarva of Sonepur district and Hemakanta Bishi.

    The vigilance sleuths arrested the duo for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 24,000 from a complainant through Bishi in order to process 6 nos. of sale deeds for registration of land of complainant and 5 others.

    Based on the complaint, a trap was laid today, wherein the accused were were caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the office room of Head Clerk while demanding and accepting the bribe.

    As per the direction of Guru, Bishi received the bribe amount from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Bishi and seized in presence of witnesses.

    Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Guru located at Ghodaghatpada, Subarnapur and his office room.

    Both the accused persons were arrested and are being forwarded to the Court, said sources adding that in this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.11 dated 08.05.2023 U/s 7/12 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
