    Bhubaneswar ED seizes high end Audi of Golden Baba

    Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate in Bhubaneshwar has recovered a high end Audi Q5 car belonging to the much talked about Golden Baba.

    The recovered car has been valued at around Rs. 51 Lakhs (approx.) It belongs to Jyoti Ranjan Beura, popularly known as Golden Baba.

    The car was seized by the Enforcement Directorate in Bhubaneshwar under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA), said reports.

    Earlier on April 27, 2023 the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had seized an Audi car of the conman Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias Golden Baba from CRP in capital city of Bhubaneswar of Odisha. The Audi car has an estimated value of 75 lakh rupees. However, it was a secondhand car, which the fraudster bought for 51 lakh rupees.

    According to reports, the ED was chasing the fraudster who was reportedly trying to abscond. He ditched the vehicle and fled from the scene.

    Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias Golden Baba was arrested in the fraud case of Rs 5.5 crore. The Commissionerate Police had arrested the fraudster from the Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar for allegedly duping a resident of Keonjhar district on December 31, 2018.

    He had also swindled money from several people and companies on the pretext of sanctioning loans from finance companies.

    The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch had earlier probed two of his financial fraud, amounting to Rs 12.04 crore and Rs 4.05 crore respectively. He had allegedly taken 12 cheques totaling to Rs 12.04 crore from a mining company with the promise to get a loan of Rs 110 crore sanctioned.

    Several documents are also sized during the raid on his house.

    Apart from this, he had an agreement with 4 to 5 companies for which he had collected Rs 100 crore through the post-dated cheques.

    Previously, the EOW had also Rs 51 lakh, 1.5 kg of gold worth Rs 40 lakh from him. He reportedly owned four luxury cars.

    Sources said that a total of 19 cases are pending against Beura in various police stations in the state.

    Bhubaneswar: In keeping with the high pass percentage of students who have passed in Odisha Matric exams this year, the number of Plus 2 seats has also been increased.

    The School and Mass Education Department of the Government of Odisha has decided to upgrade schools in various districts of the State and increase the number of Plus 2 seats.

    The Department has published an official notification in this regard. It has prepared an exhaustive list of the schools that have been upgraded and posted it on twitter. The tweet on this matter was shared on the official twitter page of the Information and Public Relations Department Government of Odisha.

    According to reports on May 20, the Odisha government was contemplating on increasing the number of Plus 2 seats if the need arises said the newly appointed School and Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallik.

    The need to increase the number of plus 2 seats was felt due to the fact that as many as 96.4 percent of students have passed Matric exams this year that is 2023 in Odisha.

    The Minister had further added in the presser that, “Necessary measures will be taken so that no student will have to suffer.” It is worth mentioning that, the Minister also informed that some changes will be made in the Matric Summative I and II examinations.

    Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The rasagolla price hike in Odisha shall be applicable from today that is May 23, 2023 said reports. The consumers and sweet lovers were seen to be distressed with the price hike.

    The price hike of rasagolla in Odisha has been effected by the Pahala Sweet Traders Association (Bhubaneswar Cuttack Highway) said reports on Tuesday. The shops in Pahala have been reopened today after a gap of two days. It is worth mentioning that, the Pahala Sweet Traders Association had decided on closing their shops due to the price hike of chenna (paneer).

    According to the available reports, the new prices which shall be effective from today are as follows:

    Rs. 5 per piece of sweets are going to cost Rs. 6.
    Rs. 10 sweets are now going to be available for Rs. 12.
    Rs. 20 sweets are now going to be sold for Rs. 25.
    The popular local delicacies that is Rasagolla, Chennapoda and Chenna gaja will be available at the new rates from today.

    The price hike is sure to affect the common man and burn a hole in their pockets. The burdens of the middle class families seem to have increased considerably due to the price hike of these popular sweets.

    Similarly, the price of Chena gaja has been hiked to Rs. 220 per kilogram. The price of 1 kg of Chennapoda has been increased to Rs. 280. It is worth mentioning that, there are about 70 sweets shops in the entire Pahala sweets bazaar.

    Use of ganja banned in Shiva Peethas across Odisha!

    Bhubaneswar: The use of ganja will be banned in all the Shiva peethas across Odisha, said reliable reports on Tuesday.

    The Odia Language Literature and Culture Department of the Government of Odisha has written a letter to all the District Magistrates and SPs across the various districts of Odisha. The department has urged the officers to take action in this regard.

    The Department of Culture has urged the District Magistrates and SPs to take necessary steps to ban the use of Ganja in various Shiva Peethas.

    The Odia Language Literature and Culture Department Director Dilip Rautray has written a letter to the District Magistrates and SPs of all the districts of the state.

    The minister of State in-charge of Odia Language Literature and Culture Department has welcomed this move. The Minister further added that the consumption of drugs in any form should be banned from all religious institutions. He also urged everyone to cooperate with this move.

    Bhubaneswar: Pranita Dash from Odisha has cracked the civil services examinations and scored All India Rank of 42.

    Dash according to reports, has cleared in the Civil Services Examinations 2022 in her first attempt. She is pursuing her MPhil from Cambridge University. Pranita had completed her graduation from St Xavier’s in Kolkata.

    She prepared for civil service exams with the help of coaching and mocks tests and mock interviews. She has advised students preparing for the exams to be confident and choose the subject that they love.

    She further added that she was asked a number of off beat questions in the interview a few of which she answered and a few of which she humbly passed.

    This year girls have dominated the top positions with Ishita Kishore followed by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra.

    The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the civil services mains final results 2022 today. Candidates can check their respective results from the official website — upsc.gov.in.

    The UPSC CSE preliminary exam was held on June 5, 2022 and the results of the examination were released on June 22. The main examination was conducted from September 16 to 25, and the results were declared on December 6. The interviews concluded on May 18.

    Meanwhile, the UPSC is set to conduct the CSE 2023 prelims on May 28. The admit cards for the exam have been released on the official website.

    Government to give free crop insurance to farmers in Odisha for 3yrs

    Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government announced that it will provide free crop insurance to all farmers in the state for the next three years. Odisha is the first state in the country to provide free crop insurance to farmers.

    Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare of Odisha Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak made the announcement after a review of his department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

    As many as 1,451 new Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) have been formed to further extend short-term loans to the farmers

    The Department would bear the premium of the insurance from the 2023 Kharif season to the 2025-26 Rabi season. Short terms agriculture loans are being provided at low interest rates to the farmers.

    Furthermore, the state government has increased the interest-free loan cap from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Under the scheme, more than 7 lakh small and marginal farmers have been provided loans, amounting to Rs 16,683.57 crore during the 2022-23 financial year, the Minister informed.

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has made some changes in the spot selection admission process. As per the decision, from now on the spot selection admission of the students will be done through online mode.

    In a letter to the General Manager of Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), Raghuram R. Iyer, the Director of Higher Secondary Education said to do the Spot Selection admission through on-line mode instead of previous practice of physical mode registration.

    As per the letter, the spot on-line selection information will be shared through WhatsApp or SMS.

    “Tracking of BSE (O) passed out candidates those not opted for e-Admission (+2/ITI/Diploma). A SMS will be sent to those mobile numbers for creating awareness,” read the letter.

    Field to capture the data of a National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) awardee i.e.

    • Are you a NMMS awardee: Y/N).
    • If, Yes: Then NMMS Roll No field must be enable (12 digit/online numeric) (322………….).
    • Here “3” represents the exam code & “22” represents the State code. It is same for all the Roll Nos.
    • Applicants have to fill up only the rest of the 9 digits.
    • After giving NMMS Roll No by the applicants, immediately the name of 8th standard school must be auto fetch from the database shared by the SCERT with the OCAC.

    BSE (O) Roll No. logic should be put on the Roll No. field of Common Application Form to avoid any alternation done by the other board applicants.

    Further candidate’s data related to the 10th pass Board Name, Year of Pass, Roll No. and Exam type (Regular/ Supplementary) must match with the SAMS database. The applicant will not be able to fill out or submit the CAF if there is mismatch in the given data. However, the system will only let the applicants to update the marks related discrepancy.

    Odisha Govt Announces Free Crop Insurance For Farmers For 3 Years

    Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will provide free crop insurance cover to all the farmers in the state for next three years.

    This was announced by Cooperation Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak at a press conference in Bhubaneswar on Monday after a review of his department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

    The minister said his department would bear the premiums of the crop insurance of the farmers from 2023 Kharif to 2025-26 Rabi season. Odisha is the first state in the country to provide free crop insurance cover to farmers, he added.

    “The department has been providing short terms agriculture loans to the farmers under the three-tier system. The Odisha State Cooperative Bank, 17 Central Cooperative Banks and around 2,710 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) have been giving loans at low rate of interest and return in easy instalments,” he said.

    As per its election promise, the government has increased the interest-free loan limit from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Under the scheme, more than 7 lakh small and marginal farmers have been provided loans amounting to Rs 16,683.57 crore during the 2022-23 financial year, he added.

    Besides, 1451 new Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) have been formed to further extend the short term loans to the grassroots level, he said adding that the PACS has been playing a crucial role in providing seeds and fertiliser to the farmers.

    Naveen Inaugurates ITC’s Food Processing Plant At Khurda

    Bhubaneshwar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated ITC’s state-of-the-art Integrated Consumer Goods Manufacturing and Logistics (ICML) facility at Khurda.

    Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister reiterated the commitment of the state government towards making Odisha the next industrial hub in the country. “The government recently came up with the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2022 which aims at transforming Odisha into a modern and advanced industrial state by offering the investors outstanding opportunities for sustainable business growth and to foster holistic socio-economic development of the people,” he said.

    The food processing is one of the priority areas in the IPR 2022 and the ITC facility marks a significant milestone in the sector in Odisha, he added.

    Among others, Suresh Kumar Routray, Jatni MLA; Jyotirindra Nath Mitra, Khurda MLA and Sanjeev Puri, CMD, ITC were present.

    The ICML, which is the first such facility in the state, has been set up in an area of 35 acre. It is strategically planned to accommodate 7 production lines, dedicated to producing ITC’s world-class foods brands including Aashirvaad Atta, Yippee! Noodles, Sunfeast biscuits, Bingo! chips and others, in phases.

    The future-ready unit is powered by sophisticated equipment having integrated data analytics and cutting-edge digital infrastructure. The Khurda plant will have over 55% women workers at factory level.
