    These candidates from Odisha crack Civil Services Exam, Anup Das is the state topper

    Bhubaneswar: As many as 18 candidates from Odisha have cracked the Civil Services Exam 2022, results of which were declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Including the 18 from Odisha as many as 933 candidates across the country have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.

    With 38th All India Rank (AIR), Anup Das is the state topper. He was followed by Pranati Dash and Kasturi Panda, who secured 42nd AIR and 67th AIR respectively.

    Contractor dupes Rs 15 lakh from bank by forging BDO’s signature in Odisha’s Tangi

    Tangi: A contractor has allegedly cheated Rs 15 lakh rupees from the bank by forging BDO’s fake signature in Tangi of Khurda. The contractor Kishore Behera is the husband of Chilika block Chairman.

    According to sources, Kishore was in charge of a tender for construction of new health center house in Badapari and Kuhudi block of Tangi. He has signed a agreement with the block administrators regarding this.

    As per the agreement, he pledged Rs.15 lakh as security. He was to get the Rs 15 lakh back with the permission of block administrator after the completion of the work.

    However, he withdrew Rs 15 lakhs by forging Tangi BDO Aishwarya Samantharay’s signature even before the work has started.

    The BDO Aishwarya Samantharay has registered a written complaint against Kishore in Tangi police station.

    Shocking! Man kills brother and 3 of his family in Odisha

    Bargarh: In a shocking incident, a man has killed the entire family of his brother in Bargarh district of Odisha on Tuesday. According to available reports, the killing occurred over a property dispute say preliminary reports.

    The bodies of the man, his wife and his two children a boy and a girl were found drenched in blood, said reports. The bodies were recovered from inside a house.

    The incident has been reported from Jikjhiki village under Bhatli police limits in Bargarh district of Odisha. The dead bodies of four people of a family was found inside a house in the village.

    From a preliminary investigation it is suspected to be murder. The reason is behind the killings is however unclear. It is however suspected to be due to a property related angle.

    The four dead bodies have been recovered and seized by the Bhatli police. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. Investigation by the police and scientific team is underway at the scene.

    The alleged murder has been committed allegedly by the younger brother of the deceased man. The alleged perpetrator of the crime has been detained by the police. He is being questioned relating to the motive behind the shocking incident.

    Man hacks mother to death in Odisha’s Paradip!

    Paradip: In an inhuman incident, a man hacked his mother to death with a sharp weapon in Bhutamundai village near the outskirts of Paradip. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. The man has been arrested by police.

    According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Sulochana and the accused has been identified as Anshuman. The mother and son performed the death anniversary of Sulochana’s mother yesterday. All the friends and family attended the death anniversary feast.

    Everything went smoothly and the relatives and others returned to their home late last night. However, the next day, Sulochana’s son allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon and killed her while she was getting ready in the early morning.

    Sulochana worked as a teacher in Srima Govt. High School. Her son Anshuman used to brings her to school every day. The police is investigating the case and trying to know why did he killed his mother so suddenly.

    Government to give free crop insurance to farmers in Odisha for 3yrs

    Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government announced that it will provide free crop insurance to all farmers in the state for the next three years. Odisha is the first state in the country to provide free crop insurance to farmers.

    Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare of Odisha Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak made the announcement after a review of his department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

    As many as 1,451 new Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) have been formed to further extend short-term loans to the farmers

    The Department would bear the premium of the insurance from the 2023 Kharif season to the 2025-26 Rabi season. Short terms agriculture loans are being provided at low interest rates to the farmers.

    Furthermore, the state government has increased the interest-free loan cap from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Under the scheme, more than 7 lakh small and marginal farmers have been provided loans, amounting to Rs 16,683.57 crore during the 2022-23 financial year, the Minister informed.

    Stone mafia attack Tehsil officials in Nayagarh of Odisha

    Nayagarh: The stone mafia members on Thursday attacked the members of an Enforcement Team of Ranpur tehsil of Nayagarh district during a raid. According to reports, the stone mafia attacked the team and has critically injured one member.

    The incident has been reported from the illegal stone mining at Kusapalla village under Patia gram panchayat of Ranpur block in Nayagarh district.

    Reports say that, one of the members of the team has sustained grievous injuries in the attack and was admitted to a hospital.

    Due to raid, the mafia attacked the officials with sticks and iron rods and pelted stones at them. The Chandpur police registered a case and launched a manhunt to catch the miscreants who are yet to be traced.

    Earlier on February 3, 2023 a sub-collector was allegedly thrashed by sand mining mafia in Balasore district of Odisha.

    The incident has been reported from Sahadev khunta Police limits area. The official driver of the sub-collector was also attacked and injured said reliable reports.

    It is worth mentioning that, both the sub-collector and the driver have been admitted to the Balasore district headquarter hospital (DHH).

    Gang of bike robbers arrested from Odisha’s Bhubaneswar

    Bhubaneswar: In a piece of good news for the denizens, a gang of bike looters have been arrested from Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

    According to reports, the arrested person is the mastermind and is the head of large gang of bike robbers. They used to loot bikes from busy areas and then cut these bikes, take out the parts and sell them off to avoid suspicion and to avoid getting caught.

    The Capital police station arrested as many as four bike robbers from the Forest Park (Biju Patnaik Park) area on Sunday as they were trying to loot bikes parked outside the park.

    The Capital police has arrested the gang mastermind M Sukant Reddy. The bikes parked in front of the park were targeted. The bikes were looted from the Biju Patnaik Park parking area and from the Unit-1 bike stand area in the early morning and late evening hours.

    They used to loot bikes, cut them and sell the bike parts. They used to sell bike parts all over Odisha. They used to target bike of which the locks would be easy to open. As many as 16 bikes and more than 40 chopped bikes have been seized by the police. Furthermore, cutting machines have also been recovered in the raid conducted by the police.

    The Capital police is further investigating into the matter. The police is questioning the four arrested persons to know ore details about their Modus Operandi. Details as to where the bike parts were sold is being investigated by the police.

    In February this year, the Nayapalli police had nabbed a gang of bike robbers in the Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha.

    The Nayapalli police had seized as many as 11 looted bikes and arrested two robbers.

    They used to rob bikes from busy marketplaces in Bhubaneswar. After changing the bike number, chassis number and engine number, they sell it in the village.

    There are multiple cases against them in various police stations of Khurda and Bhubaneswar.

    Bhubaneswar: The three-day Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting under G20 has begun in Bhubaneswar from Wednesday.

    Three-day Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting of G20 has begun in Bhubaneswar today. The event is being attended by G20 member countries, guest countries, and invited organizations such as Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

    The G20 Education Working Group workshop started in Bhubaneswar. Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subash Sarkar inaugurated the workshop. The representatives of various countries have assembled together in the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) institute in Bhubaneswar for the program.

    In the seminar shall be discussed the issue of skill development for lifelong education in the field of future of work. Representatives of the G-20 countries are scheduled to discuss on the issue in the workshop in Bhubaneswar.

    As many as 63 delegates from 27 nations are expected to attend the three-day event. This discussion cycle is expected to create various opportunities for detailed discussion at the Education Working Group meetings, said reliable reports on Wednesday.

    The schedule says that, three panel discussions will be held on this occasion of the three-day workshop in Bhubaneswar. In the first session, emphasis will be placed on making the educational institutions all over the worldready for the future course of action related to the issues of labour market and skill development.

    Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed on the premises of Maharaja Cinema Hall between two groups on Saturday night.

    Report says, two groups had come to watch a movie at Maharaja cinema hall. They had an intense argument regrading car parking and later it turned to a physical altercation.

    As per the video, a girl was seen sitting on top of the car bonnet and started hitting it. A youth who was along with the girl broke the windows of the car.Later, the opponent group then dragged the girl down from the car and had physical fight.

    Following which, a large number of people who had come to watch movie gathered at the spot for nearly half an hour

    On getting information, police rushed to the spot and detained several members of both the groups.
