    Jharsuguda: Wild boar has allegedly entered a house and attacked three members of a family in Jharsuguda district of Odisha on Thursday.

    The attack reportedly took place at Kapumal village in Jharsuguda district of Odisha. Reliable reports say a woman and her two childreattackedn a boy and a girl were injured in the attack.

    The injured have been rescued by the villagers and admitted to the Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital (DHH)

    Odisha: Fraud worth lakhs for job in Utkal University

    Bhubaneswar: Yet another job fraud racket has come to the fore in Bhubaneswar the capital city of Odisha on Wednesday, said reports.

    According to reports, a fraud of lakhs of rupees has taken place in Bhubaneswar on the pretext of giving a job in Utkal University.

    The Chandrashekharpur police station of Bhubaneswar has arrested two people in this regard. The man was allegedly duped by a fraudster.

    The alleged fraudster had promised to give employment to the man as the post of a library  attendant. The complaint was made to the police after the appointment letter sent by the fraudsters looked suspicious.

    According to reliable reports, the two arrested accused persons have been cheating many people before this incident came to light.

    The Chandrashekharpur police has arrested the two accused persons and is questioning them in this regard. Detailed report is awaited in this regard.

    Odisha: Wagons of good train gets detached near Keshinga

    Kalahandi: In a shocking incident, a goods train’s wagons parted away from its engine near Keshinga Railway station in Odisha’s Kalahandi district. The major accident was averted because of the presence of mind of the loco pilot as he stopped the train within 30 meters of the wagons getting detached.

    According to the sources, several wagons of the goods train carrying aluminum got separated from the middle when the train was crossing the station. The loco pilots noticed the detachment of the wagons and immediately halted the train. Later, the wagons were attached. The train was en route to Angul from Damanjodi.

    On being informed, the railway department officials reached the spot and started to investigate the matter.

    Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve To Be Closed To Visitors For 3 Months From This Date

    Baripada: The Odisha government has announced that the tiger reserve at Similipal in Mayurbhanj district will remain closed to visitors for three months.

    In a notification on Tuesday, Prakash Chand Gogineni, Field Director, Similipal Tiger Reserve, said the tiger reserve will remain closed for tourists and visitors from June 16 to September 15 in accordance with regular management practice.

    Since the government keeps the tiger reserve closed for 4 months every year, Gogineni has clarified that the reopening date is tentative. The final date of the reopening would be notified and published in newspapers to inform the visitors subsequently.

    The Field Director, however, said the eco-tourism complex at Jamani, Gurgudia, Kumari and Ramtirtha inside the sanctuary will remain open for visitors during the period.

    Odisha: Similipal National Park to be closed from June 16, 2023

    Mayurbhanj: Similipal National Park to remain out of bounds for visitors for three months from June 16 to September 15, 2023, said reliable reports.

    The Simlipal National Park situated in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha shall be shut down for three months starting from June 16, 2023.

    This park is spread over an area of 2,750 sq km and is one of the largest tiger reserves in the country.

    It is noteworthy that, the park is scheduled to be closed for visitors from June 16, 2023 to September 15, 2023 ahead of the monsoons.

    An order to this effect was issued by the District Administration.

    Odisha government hikes dearness allowance by 4 percent

    Bhubaneswar: The Naveen Patnaik government on Tuesday hiked the dearness allowance (DA) for all the State government employees by 4 per cent.

    The hike in dearness allowance will be applicable retrospectively that is from January 1, 2023 (01.01. 2023). The DA has been hiked from 38 percent to 42 percent.

    It is noteworthy that ahead of Raja Sankranti 2023, Odisha government on Tuesday announced a major hike in dearness allowance (DA) for the state government employees.

    The hike shall be applicable for 7.5 lakh government employees and pensioners.

    According to the latest notification, the dearness allowance has been hiked by 4 (four) percent.

    Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved the proposal for hike in the dearness allowance for the state government employees.

    Odisha train tragedy: Injured undergoing treatment at SCB succumbs

    Cuttack: One of the injured in the horrific Balasore train accident succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

    The deceased has been identified as Bijaya Paswan of Bihar. According to sources, after the accident, Bijaya was rushed to SCB Hospital in Cuttack. He was undergoing treatment at the central ICU ward of the hospital. However, he succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning. He is the first among all the injured passengers to succumb.

    On the other hand, CBI is probing for the cause of the Bahanaga train accident. CBI is also looking at whether it is a human-made error or mechanical error or if is there a bigger conspiracy behind the triple train tragedy. The Central Investigation Agency will conduct a thorough investigation in this regard.

    It is to be noted here that 275 people were killed while over 1,100 others were injured following a triple train mishap at Bahanaga railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2. The three trains which were involved in the accident are the 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, and a goods train.

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born Santanu Mishra was conferred IBM’s “Sustainability Leader of the Year” award during the UBS Forum Sustainability Summit & Awards 2023 in Mumbai recently for his pioneering the concept of Social Venture Philanthropy (SVP) in the development sector.

    Social Venture Philanthropy (SVP) is an adaptation of successful business model of venture capital for the development sector, linking social investment strategies to charitable giving with a focus on achieving scalability and sustainability. The idea behind amalgamation of social venture philanthropy was to bridge the gap between corporate or funders who have the required resources to make large-scale social investment.

    Speaking after receiving the award, Santanu said, “I have a firm conviction in the potential of local community-based organisations (CBOs) in bringing change at the grassroots level. Hundreds of social entrepreneurs are born every year in different corners of the country, but they need the right guidance to survive, succeed and serve the nation.”

    A management strategist and a legal consultant by profession, a company secretary by qualification, and an entrepreneur by passion, Santanu completed his management education from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

    He quit his full-time corporate career in 2005 and has been spearheading Smile Foundation as its Executive Trustee. A pioneer in applying many successful management practices in the social sector, Santanu’s contribution can also be described as a convergence of good governance, championing entrepreneurial spirit at the grassroots, leveraging emerging technologies, encouraging innovation, creating a high impact model, and imbibing the philosophy of real work and real change.

    In order to complement the working model of social venture philanthropy, Santanu has initiated a special programme called Empowering Grassroots. The mission is to build capacities of genuine grassroots initiatives through extensive workshops and training programmes by engaging Indian and international experts.

    Social entrepreneurs leading community-based organisations from across India are trained in subjects such as operations, organisational building, communication, mobilisation and fundraising, and are further assisted in applying their learning in their day-to-day operations on the ground.

    Nuapada: The banking assistant of Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank is under Odisha vigilance scanner over alleged allegation of acquisition of disproportionate assets.

    The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Chandrakar. He is the banking assistant of Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank of Koma Branch in Odisha’s Nuapada district.According to sources, simultaneous house searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance led by  three DSPs, 3 Inspectors and other staffs. The raid is being conducted on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge,Vigilance, Bhawanipatna. The searches are being conducted at the following four places.1.Residential double storyed house of Chandrakar situated at village Beltukuri, Dist- Nuapada.

    2.Another Double storyed building situated over plinth area of approx 3000 Sq.ft at Beltukuri, Dist- Nuapada.

    3.One under construction House over plinth area of approx. 3000 Sq.Ft. at Beltukuri, Dist- Nuapada.

    4.Office room of Pradeep Kumar Chandrakar at Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank, Komna.

    Odisha: 6 labourers critical after coming in contact with live wire in Jaleswar

    Balasore: In a shocking incident, six labourers were critically injured after coming in contact with live wire while working in Odisha’s Balasore district. The incident has come to the fore from Jaleswar of the district.

    According to sources, the six labourers were working near the Baliapal bus stand in Jaleswar, when they suddenly came in contact with live wire. Due to electrocution, the four of them were critically injured.

    Locals present on the spot, rescued them and immediately rushed them to the nearby hospital, said reliable reports. The condition of the victims of the electrocution  is said to be critical.

    On being informed, police and officials of electricity department also reached the spot and started to probe into the matter.
