    BJP unit’s office in Bengal’s Siliguri burnt to ashes

    A BJP mandal office in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district was gutted in a fire around 1.45am on Friday.

    The blaze in the party’s office in Siliguri’s Dabgram area was doused by local BJP supporters of the area with the help of a fire tender around 3am, police said.

    BJP’s Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh alleged that the party had been receiving threats from various quarters to remove the unit office. He added that a thorough probe was needed to find the exact cause.

    An FIR was filed by the owner of the house where the party had set up the office near Surya Nagar field in ward 23.

    Darjeeling zilla Trinamool Congress general secretary Babul Pal said the BJP just needed a reason to do politics.

    Pharmacy student shoots college chairman in UP’s office

    Bareilly: Abhishek Agarwal, the Chairman of Bareilly’s Lotus Institute of Management, was shot and seriously injured while he was entering his office on Wednesday, police said.

    As per a TOI report, the chairman was allegedly shot in the face allegedly by a pharmacy student on Wednesday, April 26. The student was agitated after being scolded for bringing a mobile phone to class, stated media reports.The chairman has been admitted to SRMS Hospital in Bareilly in a critical condition. The student was identified as Shrestha Saini who is a resident of Prem Nagar in Bareilly.

    SP, Rural, Rajkumar Agarwal, who has reached the college, said that the accused is a student of B Pharma third year and reportedly had a dispute with the college Chairman. He said that a police team has been deployed in search of the accused student.

    VAO hacked to death inside office in Thoothukudi, probe on

    CHENNAI: A 56-year old Village Administrative Officer (VAO) who came under murderous attack at his office in Murappanadu in Thoothukudi district died without responding to treatment on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Lourde.

    Two unidentified assailants entered his office at around noon and hacked him indiscriminately and fled the scene. The victim with multiple cut injuries on his body was rushed to a Government Hospital, where he died. Thoothukudi SP L. Balaji Saravanan inspected the spot and held enquiries. The motive behind the incident is yet to be known. Murappanadu police have filed a case. Special teams formed to nab the culprits, sources said.

    Preliminary enquiries revealed that the VAO acted tough against illegal sand miners, sources said.
