    Heavy rain in Goa kills one, many houses submerged

    Panaji: A 56-year-old woman was swept away in flood waters while several houses in low-lying areas of Goa were inundated as the coastal state witnessed heavy to very heavy rains in the last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday.

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red’ alert for Goa, forecasting heavy rains in parts of both North Goa and South Goa districts on Thursday. The weather department also predicted inundation of houses in low-lying areas, fall of weak trees and structures, localised and short-term disruption of essential services, and low visibility during intense rain spells.

    The Fire and Emergency Services received several calls of tree fall on roads in parts of Goa while the State Disaster Management Authority has asked all its staff members to cancel their leaves and weekend offs and report on duty until the alert is withdrawn.

    A vehicle rolled down into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district, leaving one person dead and another injured, police said on Tuesday.

    The accident took place near Miharan village on Monday night.

    In another incident, a bridge connecting Renukaji with Sangarh in Sirmaur district collapsed on Monday night blocking a road.

    No casualty was reported in the incident.

    One person was killed and another injured when a Maruti car (bearing registration number HP-64-B-8499) in which they were travelling plunged into a gorge near Dharja village on the Solan-Rajgarh road today evening.

    The deceased has been identified as Sushil Kumar (40), a resident of Patta Brauri, near Subathu. Naveen Kumar (35), a resident of Radiyana village, near Subathu, was injured in the accident. He was rushed to the Regional Hospital at Solan.

    The Solan Superintendent of Police, Virender Sharma, said one person was killed and another injured when the car in which they were travelling plunged into a gorge near Dharja village. Sharma said a case for rash and negligent driving leading to death of a person had been registered and further investigation was underway.

    One killed, two injured in road accident in Mangalagiri

    A road accident took place in Mangalagiri Bypass road in the midnight where the bike on which three persons travelling at high speed under the influence of alcohol, hit the divider.

    The accident has caused the one of the three youths traveling on the bike killed and two others were seriously injured who were shifted to hospital.

    After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital, a case was registered and investigation was started.

    The full details of the incident are yet to be ascertained.

    A car rammed into a standing tractor in Konaseema, one killed, three injured

    A tragic incident took place in Dr BR Ambedkar’s Konaseema district where one person died in a road accident and three others, including a woman, were seriously injured.

    According to the details, a serious road accident took place on the national highway of Alamuru mandal in Konaseema district after a car hit a tractor parked on the road. In this accident, the driver of the car died on the spot, while a woman and three others were seriously injured.

    108 ambulance vehicle reached the spot immediately after receiving the information about the accident. The injured were shifted to Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital. At the time of the accident, another car rammed into the person riding the bike.

    One person was killed in a road accident in Mandi district today. According to the police, the victim Luder Dutt, a native of Chowki Chandrahan village, was travelling in a car when he lost control over the wheel at Trambinala in Mandi district. As a result, the vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge. Luder Dutt was badly hurt and later he succumbed to injuries.

    The police have registered a case and investigation was underway. The cause of accident is yet unknown.

    A shocking incident took place in Suryapet district where a fire broke out in a Rajdhani AC bus belonging to TSRTC. A big accident was averted as the passengers got off the bus in this order.

    According to the details, a fire broke out in the Rajdhani AC bus at Indira Nagar in Moddulacheruvu of Suryapet. However, the bus hit a scooty on the road and the fire spread. The accident took place while the bus was going from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. Due to the accident, the bus was completely gutted in the fire leading to heavy traffic jam on NH-65 as the bus stopped on the road. Further, the bus was identified as belonging to Miyapur depot.

    Meanwhile, a person named Raju who was riding a scooty was seriously injured in this accident. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Suryapet and the doctors confirmed that he died while undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, the deceased Raju has been identified as a person from Indiranagar, Munagala mandal.

    A 25-year-old man died and two persons were injured as a car rammed into an electric pole on the Malerna road in Ballabgarh late yesterday night.

    The deceased was identified as Nishant of Sector 65. He was travelling with his friends Bharat and Rupesh. The victims were pulled out from the vehicle before it caught fire. The car was completely gutted.

    The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. A probe has been launched.

    Jammu and Kashmir: One killed, six injured in factory blast

    Jammu, (IANS) | A factory exploded in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. One person died and six others were injured in the accident. According to media reports, the deceased has been identified as Mohan Lal. A source with knowledge of the matter said that all the injured have been admitted to the Government College Hospital in Jammu city for treatment.

    It is being ascertained whether the blaze took place in the boiler or was caused by some explosive material.

    One killed, two injured after car fell into ditch

    One person was killed and two others were injured when the car they were travelling in fell into a 200-metre gorge near Dinger village on the Mangarh-Dinger road in Pacchad subdivision of Sirmaur district last night.

    The trio was taken to a local hospital. Later Lalit and Chaman of Mangarh village, were referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. Sachin of Bagad village, died on the way to hospital.

    Additional SP, Som Dutt said the preliminary probe had revealed that the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving.
