    CM Nitish will meet Naveen Patnaik for opposition unity

    Patna (IANS) | After visiting Delhi, Kolkata and Lucknow in an effort to unite the opposition ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is now set to travel to Bhubaneswar for a meeting with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. He said that the date of the meeting has not been decided yet.
    The buzz on Wednesday was that Nitish Kumar would meet Patnaik in Odisha on May 5 (Friday).
    I have very good relations with him (Naveen Patnaik), Kumar told reporters. I will talk to him about opposition unity. The date of the meeting is not fixed yet.
    Earlier on April 11, the Bihar Chief Minister had met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, CPI(M)’s Sitaram Yechury and CPI’s D. Raja.
    He also met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on 24 April.
    All the leaders welcomed his initiative.
    I have no personal ambition for any post, Nitish Kumar said after attending a government function here. I am just trying for opposition unity. Today, BJP is trying to change the history of the country. So, we have to unite and teach them a lesson.
    Responding to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement on laborers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, Kumar said, “People of the country are watching everything he is saying.” He will give them a befitting reply.
    Pramod Sawant had earlier said that 90 per cent of crimes in Goa are due to migrant laborers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
    When asked about the ban on Bajrang Dal, Nitish Kumar said that when all the opposition leaders sit together, we will discuss the issue. When our government will come to the center, we will make a strategy for this. At the moment, I have nothing to say on this.

    Kharge spoke to Bihar Chief Minister on phone for opposition unity

    Patna (IANS) | Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge spoke on phone with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday to unite the opposition parties ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sources said the two leaders discussed opposition unity and the future strategy to challenge the BJP in Bihar. A source further said that both the leaders have received positive feedback from each other.

    Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has said on several occasions that he is waiting for the Congress to take the initiative to bring the opposition together.

    After the formation of the Grand Alliance government in Bihar, Nitish Kumar visited New Delhi and met senior leaders of various political parties, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, D. Raja, Sitaram Yechury, Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal .

    During the CPI(ML) convention in Patna last month, Nitish Kumar had asked senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid to convey his message to the top Congress leadership for opposition unity. In response to Kumar, Salman Khurshid had said on that occasion that he was standing aside and waiting to see who would say I love you first.

    Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday organized a conference, which was attended by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, among others. Everyone advocated opposition unity.

    Sources said that Kharge has also held talks with Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.
