    Delhi Police arrested seven accused in robbery case

    New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested seven accused in connection with the robbery that took place on the morning of June 24 in Pragati Maidan area of the capital. You will be surprised to know that according to the police, we all have daily dealings with such common people who are involved in this robbery. Among these accused are a delivery boy, a barber, a vegetable seller and a mechanic. All of them together had done Reiki for the first few days and then fixing the day of 24th June, carried out the incident on that day. The CCTV footage of the incident came to the fore two days later, on 26 June.

    As soon as the footage went viral, there was an uproar from the administration to the corridors of power. On one hand, where this incident raised questions on the security system of the posh area, on the other hand, it instilled fear in the minds of the business class. The complaint of the matter reached the LG and seven people were arrested in the police raid which lasted for more than 48 hours. Out of these two suspects were arrested till the night of 26th June only, the information regarding the arrest of the other five accused was received on 27th June.

    Authorities demolish shanties near Delhi’ Pragati Maidan

    New Delhi, Authorities here on Thursday demolished several shanties near central Delhi’s Pragati Maidan as part of an anti-encroachment drive, officials said.

    Security personnel were deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident, they said.

    The authorities have been conducting anti-encroachment drives across the national capital ahead of the G20 summit to be held in the city later this year.

    Several shanties on Bhairon Marg near Pragati Maidan were removed, the officials said.

    The locals, who lost their homes, refused to speak to reporters. They were seen sifting through the rubble to salvage their belongings.
