Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will reach Telangana on May 8 for public meeting

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will reach the city on Monday to address a public meeting to highlight the issue of unemployment in Telangana, her first rally in the state after taking charge as AICC general secretary.
The party said it will also release the ‘Hyderabad Youth Declaration’ at the ‘Yuva Sangharsh Sabha’ to be held at Saroor Nagar Stadium here on Monday evening.
The Youth Declaration is expected to be on the lines of the Kisan Declaration issued by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Warangal.
Telangana Congress senior vice-president and former MP Mallu Ravi told PTI that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra attending the meeting would instill “confidence” among lakhs of unemployed youth and students in the state.
He said that the unemployed youth and students are desperate due to the alleged leak of question papers of the recruitment examinations conducted by the State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).
He said the ‘Youth Declaration’ will include the party’s promises to the youth and students about large scale employment generation, unemployment allowance etc.
Congress has already protested against the TSPSC paper leak issue at various places in Telangana in April under the leadership of state unit president and MP A Revanth Reddy.
“We are sure she (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) will inspire youth, women, farmers, all sections of society,” Ravi said.
The Congress hopes that Priyanka Vadra’s public rally will give a boost to the party as it seeks to revive its fortunes in the state.
With an aim to revive its prospects in the state, the Congress is reaching out to the people in various forms.
While Revanth Reddy has undertaken a ‘padayatra’ after the conclusion of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has been undertaking a ‘padayatra’ for the last 50 days.
The Congress has suffered a setback in Telangana despite the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government realizing its demand for a separate state in 2014.
Apart from losing the Legislative Assembly elections in 2014 and 2018, the Congress has also fared poorly in Assembly bypolls and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections held during the last few years.
Besides this, the party has given ground to the BJP which has won two assembly bypolls and the GHMC elections impressively.
Buoyed by its performance, the BJP is aiming to emerge as an alternative to the ruling BRS.

Bengaluru (IANS) | Only a few weeks are left for the assembly elections in Karnataka to be held on May 10. In this episode, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will campaign for the party in the state on Tuesday. Priyanka Gandhi’s visit after senior leader Rahul Gandhi’s two-day visit is likely to raise the spirits of party workers and supporters.

This is Priyanka Gandhi’s first visit to the state after the announcement of elections.

Earlier she had gone to Karnataka on the occasion of International Women’s Day, during which major announcements of Griha Lakshmi Yojana were made.

Under the scheme, the Congress has promised an allowance of Rs 2,000 to each female head of the household.

Congress sources have said that the party is planning a mega event in the state.

Priyanka Gandhi in the old Mysuru region at T, Narasipura, Hennur and K.R. Will campaign for the city.

Party sources also claim that she will also appeal to the women voters of the state.

Buoyed by its chances of winning the elections in Karnataka, the Congress has launched a more aggressive campaign after a rebellion broke out in the BJP.

The party managed to get two of its prominent leaders from the North Karnataka region and also accused the BJP of neglecting Lingayat leaders.

Let us tell you that recently, Rahul Gandhi visited Kudal Sangma, the place where the 12th century Basavanna’s Samadhi is located and celebrated Basava Jayanti. Basavanna is the founder of Lingayat religion.

The BJP derives its strength from the Lingayat vote bank in the state.

Party sources claimed that the strategy is to rope in national leaders for as many constituencies across Karnataka.

AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are planning to visit 30 constituencies, Priyanka Gandhi will campaign in about 30 seats and make a direct appeal to voters.

Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar and Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah have been asked to campaign in 60 to 65 constituencies.

Leaders are being asked to make aggressive allegations against the BJP for insulting the Lingayat leadership and alleging corruption.
