    The Project will help in development and operation of 600 model schools

    Raipur. On the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the World Bank has sanctioned an amount of Rs 2460 crore to improve quality of education and infrastructure in the schools of Chhattisgarh and to encourage science and commerce education at the higher secondary level. Nearly 40 lakh students coming from poor and weaker sections of the society will be benefited from this project.

    It is noteworthy that Swami Atmanand English and Hindi medium Schools have been opened in the state to provide quality education to the students of underprivileged communities. In addition, many innovative initiatives are also being taken in the field of education. The Chhattisgarh Accelerated Learning for a Knowledge Economy Operation (CHALK) project has been commenced with the aim to improve access to  education across all grades, and to address the growing demand for science and commerce studies at the senior secondary level. Under this project, residential facilities for students and teachers will be provided for the schools in remote locations.

    Now with the amount sanctioned by the World Bank, this project aimed at providing housing, increasing the enrollment rate of students in schools, improving the quality education and promoting science and commerce education in secondary schools of the state, to increase the number of science and mathematics teachers, to strengthen the necessary infrastructure in laboratories, and to provide accomodation facilities to the students coming from remote areas to study will be be implemented.

    600 model schools to be developed and operated in the state

    This World Bank project will help develop and operate about 600 model schools from class 1 to 12 and encourage science and commerce education at the secondary level. Trained teachers, strong leadership and adequate infrastructure for learning management will be provided in the schools. The project will help in compensating the learning loss during COVID-19. Under the project, teachers will be provided training to make the classroom lessons fun-learning and engaging experience for the students. This project will enhance the employability of the youngsters and also create better employment opportunities in the fast growing manufacturing and service sectors in Chhattisgarh.

    Odisha: Schools in 3 districts open today post summer vacations

    Bhubaneswar: Today the government schools opened in the remaining three districts of Odisha today. Schools have opened in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Balangir districts.

    All these districts will have morning school timings till 26 June. In the morning from 6 o’clock to 10 o’clock shall be the school timings.

    From 26 June the school will run on regular schedule, said reliable reports. The District Magistrate has decided to hold classes as per regular timings.

    According to the available information, in view of the severe summer heat, the state government had issued instructions to open the schools on June 21 instead of June 19.

    However, keeping in view the summer season conditions in Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Nuyapada and Balangir, the District Magistrates of the respective districts were asked by the School and Public Education Department to decide whether to close the school or to continue the vacation.

    Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced financial incentives for cooks and their assistants engaged in government schools.

    The Chief Minister approved financial incentives of Rs 117.73 crore for the cooks and assistants and a saree allowance of Rs 500 for each of them working under Mission Shakti programme of the government.

    Around 1.09 lakh cooks and assistants of 4,730 Mission Shakti groups in 50,862 schools across the state will benefit from the incentives. Around 45.5 lakh students in Classes I to VIII are served mid-day meals prepared by these workers. In 2017-18, the government had approved saree allowance of Rs 250.

    Speaking on the occasion, Naveen said the mid-day meal works as an incentive in ensuring spread of education and food security of the children. The government is indebted to the cooks who play an important role in this regard, he added.

    Stressing the crucial role of Mission Shakti in promotion of education, the chief minister said the government would further strengthen it to achieve women empowerment. He advised them to follow hygienic and healthy practices in their responsible work as per the training provided to them.

    School and Mass Education Minister Sudam Marandi and secretary of the department Aswathi S also spoke on the occasion.

    Bengaluru: The state government has issued guidelines for reopening of schools from May 29. The government has instructed all the government and aided school management boards to compulsorily provide sweets along with mid-day meal to the students on the first day of school commencement.

    Schools have been directed to clean school premises and dispose of unnecessary items including classrooms, kitchen utensils, food grains and water sumps before the start of the first day of school. Administrators have been asked to keep their timetables ready for each class. The current academic year would have 244 working days, the government has come out with an educational guideline to ensure smooth functioning throughout the year.

    Schools will function for a total of 244 days in the academic year 2023-24. From Monday, schools will operate until October 7; Closed for Dussehra holiday from October 8 to October 24. The second term will start on October 25 and will continue till April 10, 2024, officials of the Public Education Department said in a circular. While attendance is compulsory for teachers and students from May 29, teaching of the syllabus will begin from June 1.

    Schools have been instructed to compulsorily distribute textbooks and uniforms to students for the new academic year by May 30. Pending students have been informed to complete the Aadhaar verification process.

    Hyderabad: With the countdown having begun for the reopening of the schools, students are just left with a couple of weeks to enjoy their summer break. The schools are set to reopen for the new academic year on June 12.

    While the schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have already commenced the academic year 2023-24 in the months of March and April, the schools recognized by the State board will begin the academic year on June 12.

    With the summer vacations drawing to closure, several families who have been out on travel or spending time in the home towns, have started to pack up.

    “After Class VIII annual exams, classwork for Class IX was held for one month and later we were given summer break till June 11. Though not much homework has been given by the teachers, my parents are insisting on studying concepts of Class IX. Currently, I am unwinding in my hometown,” said Irene, a Class IX student of private CBSE school.

    For some, the vacations however did not mean much. Students particular of Class X, XI and XII are busy attending online classes being conducted by their school managements or preparing for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) or National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in their vacation time.

    “Despite being summer vacation, the school management has been taking online classes daily for about one hour in the morning,” a CBSE school student said.

    With just couple of week left, even parents, too, are caught up in their ward’s preparations with shopping for notebooks, stationery, and textbooks, which have already hit the markets. Although teachers have been given summer vacation, they are asked to prepare lesson plans and submit the same.

    “We have been asked to submit subject-wise lesson plans and content to be taught in the class. Prior to the vacation, the school management conducted training sessions on new and innovative teaching methods. Teachers are asked to report to the school on June 2,” a CBSE School Class XI and XII teacher said.

    Meanwhile, the School Education department is planning to hold Badi Bata (admission drive) in the government schools from June 1 to 9. As part of the drive, teachers will hold door-to-door campaigns to identify children and enroll them at the entry level in their respective schools.
    Out of school children or dropped out students will also be identified and admitted to schools in appropriate class as per their age.

    Raipur. At present, in view of the scorching heat, the operating time of all government and non-government schools and educational institutions of Chhattisgarh state has been changed from today.

    This changed time will be effective till 30 April. According to the order issued by the Directorate of Public Education, all primary, pre-secondary, high-higher secondary schools operating in one shift will operate from 7 am to 11 am from Monday to Saturday. In schools where classes are conducted in two shifts, primary and pre-secondary schools will be conducted from 7 am to 11 am and high-higher secondary schools from 11 am to 3 pm. It has been clarified in the order that the office hours will remain the same.
