Jamatul Quresh community demands protection of their land

Rajamahendravaram : The members of the Jamaatul Quresh community have demanded that the lands of their community which are under occupation should be protected and handed over to them.

In this regard, they submitted a petition to the RDO on Saturday. Earlier, they staged a protest in front of the RDO office.

Speaking to the media, Association president Abdul Wahed and secretary Abdul Paheem Hamidullah said that they have 2.40 acres of land in Hukumpet village panchayat of Rajamahendravaram Rural mandal. However, they alleged that the authorities created false documents and issued Form-1B in the name of Syed Fayaz Uddin for 91 cents of land in Survey No. 1095/3.

They asked how false documents could be issued without any evidence. They said that they had submitted a complaint to the District Collector to cancel the false documents and the Collector advised them to submit a petition to the RDO.

They demanded immediate action against the officials who created the false documents for the land which belonged to their community. They demanded arrest of those who had indulged in selling their lands. They also sought protection of the lands of the community.

  • ‘Deaths on beaches reflect badly on Goa’s tourism safety’

There is a need to adopt new technologies and innovative measures to ensure beach safety because people dying on beaches reflects poorly on the state, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said on Friday.

“There was a tragic incident some days ago when some people tried to take selfies in a ‘no-selfie zone’. Their unfortunate deaths reflect on the tourism and safety in the state,” he said at Candolim during the launch of safety initiatives to ensure beach safety by Drishti Marine after the recent deaths of four persons at Keri beach.

“It’s deeply painful to us, the lifesaving community, to lose an individual to the rough seas. To avoid such incidents in the future, barriers along with additional security personnel will be deployed at risk prone areas in order to deter visitors from accessing these potentially dangerous areas. Cordoning off the rocky area near Fort Aguada at Sinquerim has already led to minimisation of such incidents. We plan to replicate the practice in other treacherous spots on rocky beaches like Keri and Anjuna,” Drishti Marine said.

Besides this, deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) systems to monitor risk-prone zones and increasing awareness about safe swimming practices are some of the measures being rolled out, Drishti Marine said.

It is also readying a ‘Paw Squad’, a team of trained dogs to aid lifesavers in rescue and beach safety operations.

Further, Drishti Marine is in the process of giving final touches to its two AI platforms, Aurus and Triton, which use advanced technology to assist lifesavers in beach safety.

Aurus is a self-driving robot and the AI-powered monitoring system, Triton, will augment life-saving capabilities along Goa’s beaches

  • Punjab initiates disciplinary action against police officers guilty of lapse in security of Prime Minister

Punjab initiates disciplinary action against police officers guilty of lapse in security of Prime Minister

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused former Director General of Police S. Chattopadhyay and two other police officers have been ordered to initiate disciplinary action. Chattopadhyay has retired. This action will also be taken against the then Deputy Inspector General of Police Inderbir Singh of Ferozepur Range and Harmandeep Singh Hans, the then Senior Superintendent of Police of Ferozepur.

All these will be asked to submit answers. On January 12 last year, the apex court had constituted a committee to probe the security lapses. The inquiry committee has questioned the role of many officers.

It is worth mentioning that agitators had come on the way of Prime Minister’s convoy and blocked the way. Due to which the Prime Minister’s convoy had to stop on a bridge for more than 45 minutes. The local police officers had not given any information to the Special Protection Group (SPG) responsible for the Prime Minister’s security about the agitators coming on the road.
