Sharad Pawar and Mamata Banerjee are two sides of the same coin: Bengal BJP President

Kolkata (IANS). BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar on Monday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and National Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar are two sides of the same coin in establishing dynastic politics in their respective states.

Addressing the media after reaching New Jalpaiguri station in North Bengal, Mazumdar said, “While Pawar is trying to establish his daughter Supriya Sule in politics, Mamata Banerjee is trying the same with her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.” ”

It may be mentioned that on Sunday, Pawar’s nephew and Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Ajit Pawar, quit the NCP and took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister in the ruling Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party government, headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Soon after that development, Mamata Banerjee called up Sharad Pawar, expressing solidarity in this moment of political crisis.

Majumdar said that both the NCP and the Trinamool Congress are raising voices of discontent over their supremo’s efforts to establish dynastic politics in the party.

Majumdar said, “While Pawar is setting up his daughter, similar efforts are being made by Banerjee to set up her nephew. Due to this people in their own parties are disappointed. He said that if the upcoming West Bengal Panchayat elections are free and fair, then the Trinamool Congress will face a crisis and many people will leave the party. Eventually the Trinamool Congress will cease to exist.

Decision to become ministers personal, no party support involved: NCP

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Mahesh Tapase on Sunday said the oath taken by nine NCP MLAs as ministers in the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government does not have official support of the party.

Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar was sworn in as deputy chief minister while eight MLAs of the party took oath as ministers in the government led by the Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (NCP).

In a video message, Tapase said NCP’s party workers, district president, taluka president, youth and women are with party’s national leader Sharad Pawar.

“The oath-taking ceremony in Maharashtra was part of Operation Lotus and it has no official support of NCP. Those who took oath, it is their personal decision and not that of the NCP,” he said.

Elections to the 288-member state Assembly are due next year. The political development comes a year after a revolt led by Shinde against the Shiv Sena (then undivided) led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

On June 30, 2022, Shinde was sworn in as the CM with BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis as the deputy CM.

Karnataka has rejected the politics of money, caste and religion: Pawar

Mumbai (IANS) | Hailing Congress’ landslide victory in Karnataka, Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar said the people of the neighboring state have rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party’s politics of money, caste and religion. Talking to the media, Sharad Pawar said that the people of Karnataka have taught a lesson to the divisive politics of the BJP and handed over power to the Congress. Pawar predicted that the same result would be seen in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as well!

He said that people are fed up with the politics of ‘Khokha’ (bid of crores of rupees) being followed by the saffron party. Pawar said, though the BJP was in power there, all the top leaders of the government and senior leaders of the party had gone there to campaign. We suspected that the money used by him would go against him and it did.

He regretted the trend of BJP usurping power in a state where it is not elected by breaking the MLAs of other parties. Which has been rejected by the public. Pawar said that he did this in Karnataka, he toppled the previous government by breaking the MLAs of the previous government to grab power.

The same happened earlier in Maharashtra and Goa, where the BJP assumed power in a similar manner. He further said that this new trend started by the BJP using the government machinery and its resources is a matter of great concern. However, people do not support such politics of money and muscle power. This has become clear from the results of Karnataka.

On the performance of the Congress, Pawar said that the Congress has managed to get more than double the number of seats than the BJP. This is an indication that the people of Karnataka had made up their mind to defeat the BJP completely.

He expressed hope that now people will teach a lesson to those who misrule the country and similar trend will be seen all over India. With Karnataka out of BJP control, Pawar said that the saffron party has now been wiped out from the whole of South India.

Pawar said, apart from Delhi, Jharkhand, Punjab, West Bengal, Bihar, Rajasthan, there is no BJP government in Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu. This is a precursor to the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024.

He said that raising issues like Bajrangbali was a big mistake on the part of BJP, which seems to have backfired as now people have given a befitting reply.

On the NCP contesting against the Congress in Karnataka, Pawar clarified that it had fielded seven candidates only to enter that state. We are not a powerful party in Karnataka, only one of our candidates has won. We needed to enter the state and for that we had to contest elections.

  • NCP panel rejects Sharad Pawar’s resignation as party chief

NCP panel rejects Sharad Pawar’s resignation as party chief

Mumbai: Sharad Pawar’s resignation as chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was rejected unanimously as top party leaders met in Mumbai today in the backdrop of emotional protests from cadre, including a self-immolation attempt.
Again, the 82-year-old told his colleagues he needed time to think about continuing as chief of the party he founded in 1999.

Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule and nephew Ajit Pawar were present in the meeting in which the panel, led by senior NCP leader Praful Patel, stalled any succession plans for now.

“The committee in today’s meeting has passed a resolution unanimously. The resolution says that Sharad Pawar should continue as the national president. His decision to step down from the president’s post has been opposed by everyone unanimously,” Praful Patel told reporters.

“All of us want Sharad Pawar to continue as the party president. He should respect the feelings of lakhs of us and he should continue as the president.”

He later said: “We informed Pawar about the committee decision, he said he needs some time to think over it.”

In the three days since Sharad Pawar dropped his bombshell at the launch of his memoirs, there was fierce speculation that Supriya Sule would take over his role and that Ajit Pawar would be the “party’s face in Maharashtra”. There was, however, no talk of a clear role for Ajit Pawar, whose reported dalliance with the BJP was believed to have been a factor behind Mr Pawar’s surprise move. Many said Mr Pawar wanted to forestall Ajit Pawar and a split in the party that might follow.

Today’s decision reaffirms Mr Pawar’s dominance over his party and sends the ball back into his court.

There were fireworks and celebrations by NCP workers who had made dramatic threats since Tuesday, begging their “Saheb” to take back his resignation. Praful Patel also spoke about other political parties requesting Mr Pawar to continue as NCP chief.

    Post a comment
“Whatever Sharad Pawar said that day was shocking for all of us. We had no idea that Sharad Pawar will announce any such decision in that programme. All of you saw what happened after his announcement, how people tried to express their feelings. Even after the program, a lot of senior party leaders met Sharad Pawar several times and we have been continuously requesting him that the country, state and party want you to continue and you are the only one who can lead us,” Mr Patel said.

Sharad Pawar Denies Party Break-up Amid Speculations Of Ajit Pawar’s Rebellion

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has denied all the speculation on Ajit Pawar quitting the party and extending support to the BJP in Maharashtra. While pouring water on all the claims floating in the political arena, Sharad Pawar claimed that Ajit Pawar is busy with election-related work and all this talk of NCP break-out is only in the media.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar amid speculations of Ajit Pawar’s alleged rebellion, said, “Some people are just making news, other than that creating a hype, this news has no meaning. What is running in the mind of everyone is not in the mind of any NCP leaders, therefore it is of no importance. I can say about NCP that all the party leaders working in this party are working with one idea- how to strengthen the party.”

He added, “I don’t have any meetings. From here I am going to Dehu City in Pune and then back to Mumbai. It is heard that there is a meeting of MLAs, but this thing is false. Party president Jayant Patil is working in his constituency. Ajit Pawar is also busy with work. I am here, apart from this, no one has the right to call a meeting.”

Do NCP MLAs extend support to Ajit Pawar?
Amid the speculations of Ajit Pawar’s alleged rebellion, as many as 40 MLAs from the NCP have given their consent and extended support to Ajit Pawar, sources claimed. According to reports, the MLAs have given their consent signature to Ajit for extending support to BJP in the state. Later, these consent signatures might be presented before the Governor of state. It’s being said to be a massive jolt to the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA coalition in Maharashtra.

In another indication of Ajit Pawar’s next move of joining the BJP, the latter deleted the NCP logo from his cover picture on Twitter. Earlier, Ajit Pawar’s Facebook and Twitter handles had the NCP name, symbol, and photo of Ajit Pawar with party leader Sharad Pawar, but now he has permanently deleted that photo.

Moreover, the speaker of the Maharashtra assembly Rahul Narwekar of the BJP curtailed his Japan visit and is returning to Maharashtra, said sources to Republic TV. In another development, former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also removed the NCP logo from his Twitter handle on April 18. 2019 early morning Oath ceremony
It’s important to recall BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis in an early morning political strike was sworn in as Maharashtra chief minister and NCP’s Ajit Pawar as his deputy in November 2019. The development stunned both Shiv Sena and Congress.

Shortly after taking oath in a hush-hush ceremony, Fadnavis said, “I would like to express my gratitude to NCP’s Ajit Pawar ji, he took this decision to give a stable government to Maharashtra and come together with BJP. Some other leaders also came with us and we staked claim to form government.”

Ajit Pawar said, “I took this decision as the discussions of the alliance of the three parties Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena was not ending. There was a need to give a stable government in Maharashtra.” Sharad Pawar after the coup by Ajit Pawar stated it was Ajit’s personal decision and that he was removed from the post of the legislative party leader. He later did a joint press conference with Uddhav Thackeray and said only ’10-11 NCP MLAs’ are with Ajit Pawar and they were forced to change sides. Sharad Pawar also said Ajit might have gone to the Governor with a false list of signatures of the MLAs for registering attendance.
