    Woman shot dead in Patiala Gurdwara

    Parminder Kaur, 33, allegedly ‘consuming liquor’ inside Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib, was allegedly shot dead outside the manager’s room late on Sunday evening. The man who fired the shots has been arrested.

    Spotted by a sewadar and a group of devotees, Parminder was being taken to the manager’s room when a man, identified as Nirmaljit Singh of Urban Estate here, opened fire. The sewadar was also injured in the shooting.

    “Outraged, he fired five shots of which three hit the woman, who collapsed outside the manager’s room in the gurdwara complex”, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma.

    “Divorced recently, Nirmaljit regularly visited the gurdwara. He is a property dealer,” said DSP Jaswinder Tiwana. The SSP said Nirmaljit was carrying a licensed weapon.

    Further investigations into the incident were on, the SSP added.

    Vijayawada: A 24-year-old youth from Andhra Pradesh, who was pursuing Master’s degree in the United States, died of gunshot wounds in a reported shooting there at a fuel station where the victim was working, according to police in the US state of Ohio.

    The deceased was identified as Saiesh Veera and the incident happened in Columbus division of the state on Thursday, they said. According to media reports, Veera was a native of Andhra Pradesh.

    “On April 20, 2023, at 12:50 am, Columbus Police officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of W Broad St on a reported shooting. Upon arrival, the officers located an adult male victim, identified as SAIESH VEERA, M/O/24, suffering from a gunshot wound,” the police said in a notification.

    Columbus Fire service personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at 1.27 am, they said. The incident remains under investigation and the next of kin has been informed, the police added.

    According to Rohit Yalamanchili, who is overseeing an online fund raiser programme to send Veera’s body back to India, the deceased youth was doing his Master’s course and he got picked under the H1B visa with his graduation just 10 days away. He was going to quit his work as a clerk at the fuel station in a couple of weeks, Yalamanchili added.

    Veera came to the US, the first in his family, with many aspirations and wanted to uplift his family as his father had died two years ago. He was always willing to help people in all situations and was a great sport on the cricket field. Every person who plays cricket in the Columbus area would know him, he was a brilliant cricketer and a great friend.

    Sukhvinder, a gym operator, his brother Ravinder and uncle Balwan were shot at by unidentified assailants while they were returning home in Rohtak last night.

    They were rushed to the PGIMS, where Sukhvinder was declared dead by doctors. A recent quarrel over some trivial matter is stated to have led to the attack. The police have lodged an FIR and investigation is underway.

    Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old man was reportedly shot dead by unknown persons in the city late on Tuesday night.

    The incident took place at Tappachabutra. According to the sources, the man identified as Akash Singh, from old city had gone to Toopkhana area in Tappachabutra to meet some persons known to him to settle an ongoing issue when he was shot dead with a weapon. He died on the spot.

    “The assailants fired multiple rounds on Akash using a weapon. Three months ago, he was booked in a case of murder attempt and remanded. He was out on bail,” said DCP (south west) Kiran Khare.

    The police suspect one Kranthi with whom Akash was having some disputes might have attacked him.

    On information the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. A case is booked. Clues team too reached the crime scene and inspected the area.

    It is said that said Kranthi had lured Akash to the area on pretext of discussing an issue and attacked him.

    Special teams are formed to investigate the case and nab the suspects.

    Similarly, a man reportedly murdered his own father at their house on Tuesday night following an argument.

    The police informed that the victim was identified as N Venkatesh (42) was living with his family at Kargil Nagar Kulsumpura police station limits.

    It is learnt that Venkatesh came home in an inebriated condition and began a quarrelling with his family. In a fit of rage, his son Sai Kumar strangled his father to death using a towel.

    The police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway. It is reported that Sai Kumar is taken into custody.
