    Three laborers died due to suffocation in septic tank

    Three construction workers died of possible asphyxiation while they were trying to remove wooden planks from newly-built concrete walls of a septic tank at Bhimpur in Nadia district on Tuesday afternoon.

    The accident happened at the residence of Dipak Biswas in Natunpara.

    Sources said one labourer had gone inside and soon passed out. Two others followed him. “They, too, met with the same fate,” said a resident.

    The residents then called police and fire brigade. The septic tank was demolished with an excavator.

    The three labourers were brought out and rushed to the Krishnaganj Block Hospital, where they were declared dead.

    The victims have been identified as Shuvendu Dey, 28, Suman Biswas, 27, and Amrito Biswas, 32.

    14 kids injured

    Behrampore: Fourteen children of a school were injured, one of them critically, when the pool car they were travelling in collided with a truck on NH12, off Murshidabad’s Mankara village, on Tuesday. The driver of the car was injured, too. The children are aged between seven and 10.

    The condition of Sayan Ghosh, a student of Class III, is critical.

    According to authorities, six members of a family died in their Delhi home from suffocation when mosquito repellent dripped on the mattress and released deadly gas overnight. The family resided in North East Delhi’s Shastri Park neighborhood. Once the fire service got a call regarding a fire at about 8.52 am, three fire tenders were dispatched to the property.

    Joy Tirkey, DCP North East district, reported that Shastri Park Police Station received a call early on Friday morning reporting a home fire close to Machhi Market on Mazar Wala Road. The wounded had been transported to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital when police arrived on the scene.

    According to Tirkey, a burning mosquito coil had apparently spilled over a mattress some point during the night. Inmates lost unconscious as a result of the noxious gases, and subsequently died from asphyxia.

    Meanwhile, nine people in all were engaged in the event, two of whom are requiring burn injury treatment, and one was released after receiving first aid. There are four males, a woman, and a toddler among the dead.

    On Tuesday, while clearing a drainage in the Jagaluru taluk hamlet of Basavanakote, two municipal workers became unwell and passed away at the Chigateri district hospital.

    Eyewitnesses were present during the imcident and said said that Dundappa (45) and Nagappa (42) from Basavanakote village perished from suffocation.Each one of them supported himself only via work. Without providing them with any safety equipment, Dundappa and Nagappa were instructed to clear the obstructed drainage by Shashidhar Patil, the panchayat development officer of Basavanakote village.
    The workers ended up breathing in hazardous gas coming from the drains as a result of this. They soon complained of discomfort and were transferred to Arsikere PHC. They received first aid in Arsikere before being transferred to the district hospital in Chigateri, where they passed away.
    Dundappa and Nagappa reportedly became ill while cleaning the drainage, according to Chandrashekhar, the executive officer of the Jagaluru taluk panchayat. He noted that additional inquiries are ongoing.

    M Shivanna Kote, Chairperson, of the Safai Karamchari Commission explained that before requesting the personnel to enter the manhole, adequate safety measures had to have been performed. Without using safety equipment, the workmen entered the 4-foot manhole. They died as a result of this. He continued by saying that he would pay a visit to Dundappa and Nagappa’s kin on Thursday and make sure they received all advantages.
