    Land dispute turns ugly as miscreants open fires on Youth’s house in Sundargarh

    Sundargarh: A group of miscreants opened fire on a youth’s house due to a land dispute in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. The incident took place near a private English medium school under Bisra police limits of the district.

    The youth has been identified as Vicky Singh, a resident of Bisra village of Sundargarh.

    According to sources, the miscreants opened fire three to four times on Vicky’s house. The youth narrowly escapes unhurt from the firing.

    Following the incident, Vicky Singh’s family lodged a written complaint with the Bishra police station. They have also mentioned in the complaint that the miscreants threatened to shoot them if they don’t resolute the dispute.

    Based on the complaint, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter. The cops have also started a manhunt for the miscreants.

    Sundargarh: The Assistant Engineer of the Rural Works Division in Sundargarh is under Odisha Vigilance scanner on the allegation of the acquisition of disproportionate assets.

    The accused asst. engineer under the Odisha vigilance scanner has been identified as Sanjay Kumar Behera.

    The simultaneous searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance led by 4 DSPs, 10 Inspectors, 4 ASIs, and other staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh. The search is underway at the following 7 places in Sundargarh and Bhadrak districts.

    (1) The double-storeyed residential building of Sri Behera located at  Bhadrak Town, Dist- Bhadrak.

    (2) The residential house of Sri Behera located at his native village Bonth, Dist- Bhadrak.

    (3)  The rented residential house located at Kenduapada, PS- Town, Dist-Sundargarh.

    (4) The office chamber located inside O/o. SE, RW Divn, Sundargarh.

    (5) The residential house of a relative situated at Vill- Sindola, PS-Tihidi, Dist- Bhadrak.

    (6) The office chamber of Sri Behera at O/o. AE, RW Sub-Divn, Lephripada where he was also in charge of the office.

    (7) The Government residential quarter of the Sri Behera located at RW Office campus, Lephripada, Dist- Sundargarh.

    Another fake job racket comes to the fore; Police case registered in Sundergarh

    Sundargarh: After Balangir and Balasore, another fake job racket has surfaced in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

    As per reports, one Jayant Chand has filed a complaint at Sundargrah Town police station alleging that three persons had duped him of more than Rs 1 lakh promising to give him a job in Sundargarh Medical College and Hospital.

    The three persons had introduced themselves as employees of the medical college. One of them has introduced himself as Sushant Majhi, an employee of NTPC, Jayant stated in the FIR.

    Jayant has also mentioned the names of some other youths who have been duped of lakhs of rupees in the fake job racket. He said the three persons had taken money from him after showing him some official documents. Later, he came to know that those documents of the medical college with signature of its officials including the Dean and state government logo were fake.

    Sushant Parida, the IIC of the Town police station, said they had registered a case on the basis of the complaint filed by Jayant. The police were investigating to ascertain the involvement of other people in the racket but nobody has been arrested, he added.

    It may be noted police had busted a Rs 1-crore fake job jacket and arrested five persons, including two women, in Balasore district. They had allegedly duped over 150 youths with the promise of jobs in government and private sectors.

    Similarly, the Crime Branch has been investigating the massive fake certificate racket run by two persons with the allurement of providing jobs in Balangir.
