    AI pilot, co-pilot’s license suspended for allowing woman inside cockpit

    New Delhi: The license of an Air India pilot and a co-pilot, who permitted an unauthorised woman to enter the cockpit of flight AI-445, operating from Delhi to Leh on June 3, has been suspended by the DGCA, said an official.

    During the departure of Air India flight AI-458 from Chandigarh to Leh, the Pilot in Command (PIC) allowed an unauthorised person to enter the cockpit.

    “The First Officer (co-pilot) failed to object to this unauthorised entry. After conducting an investigation, the DGCA has taken the following actions the PIC’s pilot license has been suspended for one year, and the First Officer’s pilot license has been suspended for one month,” said an official.

    Earlier, following the breach of cockpit norms, Air India had taken disciplinary action against two pilots and had suspended them.

    The decision came after the airline received a complaint from the cabin crew, who raised concerns about the violation of cockpit regulations.

    “Air India has a just culture approach to all safety related events and has a zero tolerance for deliberate breaches of regulations. Such breaches are dealt with on a serious basis and sanctions will be imposed on those who are in breach of the regulations,” said the Air India spokesperson.

    This incident came merely a month after Air India was fined Rs 30 lakh by the DGCA for a previous breach of cockpit norms, highlighting the airline’s need for stricter adherence to established regulations.

    CHENNAI: Owing to works of 4th line connectivity between Chennai Beach and Egmore, the Southern Railways has announced the suspension of MRTS services from Chennai Beach to Chepauk for 7 months.

    According to notification issued by the railways, the suspension period would begin from July 1, 2023 and will last till January 31, 2024.

    The notification directed the authorities to disseminate this information through press, media and PA system in the railway station.

    Tillu Tajpuriya murder: Seven personnel of Tamil Nadu Special Police suspended

    Delhi: Seven personnel of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TNSP), who were on duty at a Tihar prison cell when gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was stabbed to death, have been suspended and will be sent back to Tamil Nadu for allegedly standing as mute spectators at the time of the incident, jail officials said on Sunday.

    The development comes days after Director General of Delhi Prisons Sanjay Beniwal wrote to the Tamil Nadu Police asking them to take action against its personnel.
    A meeting was also conducted with officials of the TNSP regarding the alleged negligence on part of their personnel during which they had assured to take departmental action against their personnel, a jail official had said.

    “The Tamil Nadu Police has now suspended seven of its personnel and called them back,” a jail official said.

    The TNSP personnel were deployed at cell number eight where the incident took place, the officials said.

    The TNSP provides security on the Tihar jail premises.
    A CCTV video from Tihar Jail which emerged on social media purportedly showed Tajpuriya being attacked in front of security personnel as well when they were carrying him away after he was stabbed.
