Telangana BJP leaders welcome hike in MSP of various crops

Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP leaders, including president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and others have welcomed the Union Cabinet’s decision to increase the minimum support price (MSP) of various crops stating that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again proved that it was biased towards farmers.

Bandi said the party’s aim was to double the price of crops compared to the previous government.

“It is commendable thatthe Union Cabinet on Wednesday decided to increase the minimum support price of all crops.

An increase of Rs 143 perquintal of paddy will benefit Telangana farmers a lot. During the UPA regime, the price of paddy was Rs 1,360/quintal,but recently it was hiked to Rs 2,183.

This means that the minimum support price for paddy has increased by Rs.823.

He said the Centre has increased the price of cotton crop from Rs 540 to Rs 640, groundnut to Rs.527, green gram to Rs803, Sesame to Rs 805, Tur to Rs 400.

  • Telangana ranks third after Kerala in health index ranking- NITI Aayog

Telangana ranks third after Kerala in health index ranking- NITI Aayog

Hyderabad: Health Care Failure is pushing nearly 6.5 crore people each year into poverty. It is a shame that so many people are pushed into poverty because of the costs of health care. The Round Table discussion on Vision 2030 on how to ensure quality and affordable health for all in Telangana being organised by FTCCI (The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry is appreciable. It is a good move for an Industrial Association to come forward and draft a vision document for 2030 on the subject, said Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, an author of National Health Mission, a retired Bureaucrat and founder of the Loksatta Party.

58 per cent of Health Care expenditure is incurred on out-of-pocket costs. And 90 Indians work in the unorganised sector and not many have access to health insurance. It is generally perceived that private insurance is the solution to healthcare is a weak argument, it is nonsense, he said. The quality of family health care is a disaster in our country. The mighty nation the USA spends one-third of its GDP on Health care delivery. But, the USA is not the best in Health care. It is the worst in rich countries with high cost and low impact, Dr Jayapraksh Narayan added.

Speaking further he said Osmania Hospital gets 6000 patients a day, so also Gandhi 4000 and AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Delhi attracts 12000 patients a day. There is so much load on the tertiary medical care of our country. The World’s best tertiary medical care facilities attract no more than 700 people a day. They should not be overcrowded. Patients shouldn’t throng specialist hospitals without availing of basic medical facilities. We must deploy our resources well, he said.

Another important aspect is the deployment of trained healthcare professionals. 3.2 million people are deployed in Health Care in India. Whereas the USA deploys 6.9 million. For better access to health care, we need to reach at least a 10 million mark. Similarly, we as a nation spend 1.01% of GSDP and Telangana less than 1%. This is lowest in significant economies, he said. Nearly 7000 Medical Doctors have graduated from Telangana and soon it will be 8000 per year. We have mastered high-end health care and the lowest cost, he said.

Hyderabad does about 200 bypasses and 200 new replacement surgeries every month. Our success rate is high. That is why we are performing well in Medical Tourism. Hyderabad and India are emerging as the world hub for overseas healthcare. Nearly one million overseas people are likely to spend 13.8 billion US $ this year on treatment in India and it is likely to go up to 100 billion in the near future, he said and gave few suggestions. The emphasis must be given to family health care. It should be patient-centric, he added.

He refused to agree that trained resources are a problem. Nearly a quarter million doctors are either unemployed or under-employed. The Government Medical Colleges have to enhance their credibility. They must improve their skill level. Today government colleges have lost credibility in public. They are not seen as experts. But that was not the case in the past, he concluded his address.

Dr GVS Murthy, Director of the Indian Institute of Public Health(IIPH) said we must focus on three fundamental areas in the vision document. In these days of the APPS world, my talk will be an acronym APPS about ensuring quality and affordable health for all in Telangana. He gave six As — Affordability, Accessibility, Acceptability, accountability, auditability, and Adaptability. The Ps in APPs is Preparedness of Healthcare Systems, Prevention, Partnerships, Patient Centred Care, Population-based, Primary Care, Participatory, and Point of Care Diagnostics.

TDP will win glory again in Telangana: Chandrababu Naidu

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national President Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday exuded confidence that his party will regain full glory in Telangana.

Addressing TDP leaders and workers at the party’s Telangana headquarters here, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh said that he has no doubt that the party will regain its glory.

He asked the party cadres to work hard to once again develop the TDP into a major political force in Telangana.

Naidu, who was Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh between 1995 and 2004, claimed that if Telangana has achieved huge progress and today emerged as the number one state in the country, it was because of the foundation laid by the TDP.

“If you see Hitec City, Cyberabad, Airport, Metro and Genome Valley, the effort made by the TDP is clearly visible,” he said.

Naidu also stated that after bifurcation Telangana’s economy improved and it marched ahead as the Chief Ministers who came after that did not stop development and did not resort to destruction. “When it comes to Andhra Pradesh, there was destruction, development was stopped and people’s lives thrown into darkness,” he said exuding confidence that the TDP will return to power in Andhra Pradesh.

This was Naidu’s first visit to Hyderabad after he was recently re-elected as the President of the TDP at the party’s annual conclave at Rajahmundry.

Naidu’s visit and meeting with Telangana TDP leaders also assume significance in the wake of his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national President JP Nadda in Delhi on June 3.

The TDP President’s meeting with Amit Shah, the first since 2018, came amid reports that TDP and BJP are keen to revive their alliance in Telugu states.

Assembly elections in Telangana are scheduled towards the end of 2023 while elections to Andhra Pradesh Assembly are due along with Lok Sabha polls next year.

“I have no doubt that after these two elections, the TDP will emerge as the most powerful party of Telugus,” said Naidu at the meeting in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The TDP had pulled out of the BJP-led NDA in 2018 over the issue of special category status to Andhra Pradesh. The party had fought 2018 Assembly elections in alliance with Congress and smaller parties but had to bite the dust.

The TDP went alone in Andhra Pradesh but lost power to the YSR Congress Party. After the crushing defeat, Naidu softened his stand towards the BJP and is now keen to join hands with it in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Railway authorities have been instructed to conduct the necessary surveys to enhance connectivity between these regions.

One of the proposed superfast railway lines will run between Shamshabad (Umdanagar Railway Station) and Visakhapatnam via Vijayawada. This line will prove highly beneficial as it will offer direct connectivity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad for passengers travelling from different parts of Andhra Pradesh heading to the Middle East. This will be the first time that Umdanagar will have a direct superfast railway line.

The other new railway line will connect Visakhapatnam and Kurnool via Kacheguda. There has been a significant demand for the introduction of more trains towards Mahbubnagar and Kurnool. • BJP faces internal turmoil ahead of Telangana Assembly Elections

BJP faces internal turmoil ahead of Telangana Assembly Elections

Hyderabad: With the State Assembly elections on the horizon, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is grappling with internal conflicts, presenting a picture of disarray within the party.

The feud between BJP State chief Bandi Sanjay and Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender, who also chairs the BJP Joining & Coordination Committee, continues unabated. Additionally, a verbal scuffle has erupted between Vijayashanthi, a BJP national executive member, and Eatala. Vijayashanthi accused the party MLA of engaging in anti-party activities, claiming that his role in the Joining Committee was detrimental to the party.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Vijayashanthi questioned Eatala’s statement to the media, in which he declared that he had abandoned the process of inducting leaders from opposition parties. She asked whether the victories in the Dubbaka, GHMC, and MLC polls were a result of the Joining Committee’s efforts. She emphasized that the BJP’s success was due to the sacrifices of party activists and loyal supporters, and criticized Eatala’s alleged anti-BJP campaign under the guise of the Joining Committee.

The rift between the two leaders escalated when Eatala made remarks about all parties having covert relationships with KCR, including the BJP. Vijayashanthi demanded that he disclose the names of such covert individuals within the BJP. Since then, a cold war has been simmering between them.

Sources within the party indicate that the infighting within the State BJP, divided between natives and migrants, has intensified recently. Rajendar’s purported aspirations for the top post, replacing the incumbent Bandi Sanjay, have encountered strong opposition within the party. Senior BJP leaders, setting aside their differences, have rallied behind Sanjay.

Following the defeat in Karnataka, internal conflicts within the Telangana BJP unit have escalated, with leaders openly targeting one another. There are also reports of “dissident” BJP members contemplating joining the Congress party. Presently, the State BJP appears divided, lacking cohesive leadership to steer the party forward.
