    Telangana Guv Tamilisai Soundararajan rejects a pending Bill

    HYDERABAD: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has rejected one of the three Bills pending with her, amid the continuing rift with the State government. She rejected the Telangana Public Employment (Regulation of Age of Superannuation) (Amendment) Bill.

    The Bill was passed by the state legislature to include Director of Medical Education and Additional Director of Medical Education among the categories of professors, associate professors and assistant professors of government medical colleges for the purpose of superannuation age and raise the superannuation age from 61 years to 65 years.

    The development came before the Supreme Court resumed hearing on the state government’s petition seeking direction to the Governor to take a decision on Bills pending with her.

    Thr Supreme Court was informed a few days ago that the Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Amendment Bill, the Telangana Municipal Laws (Amendment) Bill, and the Telangana Public Employment (Regulation of Age of Superannuation) (Amendment) Bill wereunder active consideration of the Governor.

    It was also told that the Governor has given her assent to three bills. They are the Telangana Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, Telangana Municipalities (Amendment Bill), and the Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (Amendment) Bill.

    She sent the University of Forestry Telangana Bill and the Telangana Universities Common Recruitment Board Bill to the President for her consideration and assent.

    The apex court was told that the Governor had sought certain clarification from the state government in regard to the Telangana Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill. It was also informed that the Azamabad Industrial Area (Termination and Regulation of Leases) (Amendment) Bill has not been submitted yet by the Law Department to the Governor for consideration.

    The Supreme Court was hearing a petition by the state government seeking direction to the Governor to take a decision on the Bills pending with her.

    In a writ petition, the state government brought to the notice of the Supreme Court that 10 Bills are pending with Raj Bhavan. While seven Bills were pending since September 2022, three Bills were sent to the Governor in February for her approval.

    The petition pleaded the Supreme Court to declare as illegal, irregular and unconstitutional the delay by the governor. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) slammed the Governor for giving assent to only three out of 10 pending bills.

    1.17 crore probed under Kanti Velugu in Telangana

    Hyderabad: Over 1.17 Crore people have undergone eye screenings and 18 lakh beneficiaries got spectacles under the Kanti Velugu programme of the State government.

    According to the officials, so far, 1,17,75,604 people which includes 55,29,373 males, 62,34,558 females and 4896 transgenders across the state were screened through the Kanti Velugu programme, which is aimed at blindness-free Telangana. The officials said that 18,19,113 visually impaired people were identified and given free spectacles and medicines.

    The beneficiaries expressed happiness that thousands of rupees are being saved for the poor middle class families with the government’s initiative for implementing Kanti Velugu Scheme. While 14,05,709 people were identified for prescription glasses, 85,50,429 people were diagnosed without any eye problems.

    Hyderabad: A delegation of officials of the Ministry of External Affairs led by Dr. Ausaf Saeed, Secretary CPV & OIA called on Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari. The meeting was attended by External Affairs Ministry Official Brahma Kumar, Joint Secretary, Regional Passport Officer Hyderabad D Balaiah and other officials.

    The meeting discussed the issues of NRIs and the possibility of employment opportunities in foreign countries. The state government reviewed the employment generation measures through Telangana Overseas Manpower Corporation Limited.

    Dr. Ausaf Saeed while referring to the employment opportunities and changing trends for Indian youth in foreign countries, said that youth should be trained as per international standards. He advised to provide training to the youth before leaving so that they do not have problems in employment. Dr. Saeed suggested expanding the role of Overseas Manpower Corporation limited.

    Dr. Ausaf Saeed and Director General of Police participated in the awareness session aimed at guiding the public legally in terms of foreign migration and employment. Commissioner of Police C V Anand, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police D S Chauhan and other officials attended the meeting.

    To avoid exploitation by illegal agents, awareness was emphasized so that the public does not fall prey to fraud in the matter of appointments. The meeting resolved to ban illegal recruitment agents.

    Dr. Ausaf Saeed advised the job seekers going abroad to be made aware of immigration and other rules. A significant number of skilled workers from Telangana are employed in gulf countries. The Ministry of External Affairs is in constant touch with the Telangana government to take steps for the welfare and safety of NRIs. He said that the Central Government will extend all possible cooperation in the matter of safe and legal departure of workers.

    Hyderabad: With an objective of empowering the workers in the construction sector and enhancing their skills and capabilities,real estate body NAREDCO Telangana launched NIPUN (The National Initiative for Promotion of Upskilling of Nirman workers) centre at Muppa’s Melody, Osman Nagar in Hyderabad. The NIPUN programme was inaugurated by S Devendar Reddy, Chief City Planner, GHMC in the presence of B Sunil Chandra Reddy, President of NAREDCO Telangana and other dignitaries.

    The construction industry which is poised to become the largest employer by 2022, employing more than 75 million people, is also plagued by an acute shortage of skilled manpower. While the real estate and construction sector alone needs 45 million additional skilled workers over the next 10 years, the need of the hour is to develop and offer a formal learning and skilling programmes to workers.

    Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has launched NIPUN on 21st June 2022 to skill over one lakh construction workers through a network of industry partners in the construction sector and Sector Skill Councils (SSC) within a period of one year. In order to implement the NIPUN project and undertake region specific initiatives across the country, NAREDCO has been recognised as a Project Implementation Agency and Prabhodita as training partner.

    S Devendar Reddy, Chief City Planner, GHMC, said: “With the potential to benefit over 200 construction workers at Muppa Melody, NIPUN program will not only benefit the workers in terms of enhancing knowledge of their job roles but also equip them on safety aspects to ensure reduction of accidents at the construction sites. NIPUN offers competency-based on-site skill training and certification mechanism including social security opportunities to the disadvantaged construction workers”

    B Sunil Chandra Reddy, President, NAREDCO Telangana, said: “In Telangana, we are starting the NIPUN project at Muppa Melody construction site and in the future, the training programs will be extended to multiple developers in order to benefit maximum number of workers in the region. The government is committed to the successful implementation of the program and looks forward to the positive impact it will have on the lives of workers in the construction sector”.     Hyderabad (IANS) | The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exam paper leak case has arrested two more accused. Mibaiyya and his son Janardhan, residents of Mahbubnagar, have been arrested. In this, the number of people arrested so far has increased to 19. Mibaiyya had allegedly paid Rs 2 lakh to Lavadyavath Dhakya, one of the accused already arrested in the case, for the question paper of the examination conducted by TSPSC for the recruitment of assistant engineers. Janardhan appeared in the examination.

    Dhakya is the husband of a teacher, Renuka, who had received question papers from prime accused Praveen Kumar, an employee of TSPSC. He had bought the question paper for his brother Rajeshwar Nayak, who appeared in the AE exam. He along with Dhakya had sold question papers to others.

    The TSPSC scam came to light on March 12, due to which 15 accused were arrested by canceling Group 1 preliminary exam, assistant engineer, AEE and DAO exams.

    Praveen, who worked as an assistant section officer in TSPSC, and Rajasekhara Reddy, a network administrator in ATSPSC, had allegedly stolen question papers of some exams from a computer in a confidential section of the commission and sold it to other accused.

    The SIT had last week informed the Telangana High Court that it has arrested 17 accused in the case since March 13. She also informed the court that she is trying to arrest one more accused from New Zealand.

    The exam paper leak case created a sensation in Telangana. Opposition parties Congress and BJP blamed the BRS government for the leak affecting lakhs of unemployed in the state.

    The SIT summoned TSPS President Janardhana Reddy, Secretary Anita Ramachandran and member B.K. Linga Reddy has also been questioned.

    The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also probing allegations of money laundering in the case. Earlier this week, it questioned Praveen Kumar and Rajasekhara Reddy.

    ED officials are believed to have interrogated both the accused on the basis of inputs received from Shankar Lakshmi, in-charge of the confidential section cell at TSPSC. She appeared before the ED on April 11 and was questioned for over 10 hours.

    It was from the computer in the confidential section that Praveen and Rajasekhar had stolen question papers of various examinations conducted by TSPSC for recruitment in government departments.

    Hyderabad: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president NVSS Prabhakar on Tuesday said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led government cannot take credit for the villages in Telangana receiving more national gram panchayat awards.

    Talking to ANI, Prabhakar said, “The national awards for gram panchayats have been announced. Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are some states that bagged these awards. These awards have been given for the proper implementation of central government schemes in rural areas. This award is not given to the KCR government. This is not for the activities or schemes they (state government) have brought in.”

    “It has been given for the work of the gram panchayats in regard to individual toilets, cleanliness, the Swatch Bharat project and others. This award is given for the proper implementation of these programs which helped the rural areas. We congratulate the sarpanches of these villages for this achievement”, Prabhakar added.

    Earlier on Monday, CM KCR appreciated Telangana gram panchayats on receiving 13 out of the 46 national awards.

    The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi on Monday.

    KCR congratulated the village administration and other officials for receiving the ‘National Conference on the Promotion of Panchayats – Awards ‘ held at the Vigyana Bhavan in Delhi on Monday.

    Hyderabad (IANS) | In Telangana, a man killed his mother thinking she was a burden and then buried her. The shocking incident took place in Kamareddy district of Telangana.

    According to the police, a person named Chinna Balayya strangulated the bedridden mother E. Balavva (80) to death with a cloth and later buried her.

    A few days back, Balaiah had told his neighbors in Sadashiv Nagar that his mother had gone missing. She claimed that the room where she was staying was locked from outside.

    However, a local public representative was suspicious. Biraiya, a member of the Mandal Parishad Territorial Committee (MPTC), lodged a complaint with the police. Shocking revelations were revealed in the police investigation.

    Balayya has confessed to killing his mother. He told the police that she had become a burden to him and he was unable to take care of her. On the night of 13 April, he strangled his mother to death with a cloth. He then took her body to an isolated spot behind a rice mill and buried it.

    In the presence of local administrative officials, the police took out the body on Monday and sent it for postmortem. Circle Inspector Raman said, “We have arrested the accused and further investigation is on.”

    Car ran out of control in Peddapalli, Telangana, one killed

    Hyderabad (IANS) | One person died and another was injured in a car accident in Peddapalli district of Telangana. According to police, the car was being driven at high speed and rammed into a roadside tire puncture shop. The accident took place near Chinnakalawa village of Sultanabad mandal around midnight on Monday.

    A police officer quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the car dragged the two men for 100 metres. The youth driving the car is said to be drunk. The villagers caught the young man and handed him over to the police.

    The deceased has been identified as A Lakshmaiah, a resident of Chinnakalawa village. The injured has been admitted to the hospital and his condition is said to be critical.

    Two people died in another accident in Telangana’s Rangareddy district. Two people riding a bike were killed when a truck hit them near Alladapamana stage in Chevella mandal.

    The deceased were identified as Dhananjay Reddy and Vijay Raju.

    Hyderabad: The Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Recruitment Board (TREI-RB) is set to begin accepting online applications for the posts of lecturer, physical director, and librarian in degree colleges today. The recruitment board will also start accepting applications for junior lecturer, physical director, and librarian posts in junior colleges on the same day. It opens up opportunities for candidates aspiring to work in various educational institutions across Telangana.

    According to the initial notification issued by TREI-RB, there are 868 vacancies in degree colleges available in the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, and Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society.
