    Durg. The police have arrested three accused on charges of theft in an empty house in Durg. After searching about 100 CCTV footage, the police were able to reach the accused. Gold and silver jewellery, scooty and other items have been seized by the police from the accused. These thieves used to commit theft by breaking into empty houses in Bhilai Amleshwar police station area. After receiving complaints continuously, the police arrested the accused in some 6 cases. He used to steal while doing Reiki by roaming around on his scooty. The police formed a team to nab the accused. The team started scanning more than 100 CCTV footages to nab the thieves. Examined thoroughly.

    While scanning the CCTV footage, the police found a suspect at the scene of the incident, who after the incident was going in a scooty from the scene of the incident via Pachpedi Naka towards Mana Raipur. With the help of further CCTV footage, the police traced the accused. The accused appeared till Dhamtari Road. After questioning the local people, the suspect was identified as Surendra Vishwakarma. The team laid siege and arrested the accused Surendra. During the initial interrogation, Surendra tried to mislead the police. However, after strict interrogation, the accused accepted his crime. The accused, along with his accomplice Jitendra Vishwakarma, used to carry out theft incidents in deserted houses in Wool-Land Colony for the last three months. He used to sell the stolen goods to Shivshankar Rai, a resident of Laxmi Nagar, Raipur.

    A total of three accused have also been arrested by the police in the case. The police have seized gold and silver jewellery, scooty, iron rod and cash from the accused. All the accused are being interrogated in other cases.

    Hyderabad (IANS) | A man arrested in a theft case died in police custody in Hyderabad on Tuesday night.

    Chiranjeevi, who was picked up from his house by the police on Tuesday evening, died a few hours later under suspicious circumstances.

    While the police claimed that he recovered and succumbed to his injuries at Gandhi Hospital, his family members alleged that he died due to torture by the police.

    Chiranjeevi, said to be an auto rickshaw driver, was picked up from his house in Singareni Colony Secunderabad and allegedly taken to Tukaram Gate police station.

    One of the family members said that some policemen came to the house and took him away saying that he would be questioned in connection with the theft. He alleged that the policemen did not tell the name of the police station where he was being taken.

    Around 10.30 am, the police informed Chiranjeevi’s family that he had collapsed due to a fit and died during treatment at Gandhi Hospital. However, the family alleged that she was tortured, which led to her death.

    A relative said the body bore injury marks on the head, face and limbs, which showed she was tortured in police custody.

    The family of the deceased demanded justice.
