    Russian missile attack kills three in Ukraine’s Odessa

    Kyiv (IANS) | At least three people were killed and 13 others wounded in a Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odessa on Wednesday, officials said. According to a CNN report, Ukraine’s Operational Command South said in a statement that the Russian military fired four cruise missiles from the Black Sea.

    According to the command, the death of three people was reported from a warehouse of the retail chain, where seven others were injured.

    The remaining six injured were reported elsewhere in the city, where a business centre, an educational institution, a residential complex, restaurants and shops were damaged in the attack, the statement said.

    The attack comes after 11 people, including a child, were killed in a missile strike on Tuesday in the central Russian city of Krivy Rih.

    Four vehicles collide in Tamil Nadu, three killed

    Chennai (IANS) | At least three people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between four vehicles on the Tiruchi-Chennai highway near Perambalur in Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Monday. Police said that the road accident happened around 3 am. A tractor, a van, an ambulance and a bus were involved in the accident.

    First the van collided with the tractor in an attempt to overtake. Due to the collision, the tractor overturned and the van came to rest after hitting the road divider.

    A ‘108’ ambulance reached the spot. While its driver and paramedic staff were busy shifting the passengers of the van, the speeding bus rammed into the ambulance first and then the divider.

    Ambulance driver Rajendran, and two paramedic staff Kavipriya and Kuppuswamy died on the spot in the accident.

    The injured tractor driver and occupants of the van have been admitted to the Government Headquarters Hospital in Perambalur.

    CHENNAI: Latest in the list of the never ending tragedies caused by banner culture, three workers died while working on erecting a banner in Coimbatore. The police have booked three people of which two arrests have been made so far.

    On Thursday evening, seven workers were involved in erecting a 60-feet high banner in Coimbatore’s Vadugapalayam. Their work was disturbed by squally winds and rain as it shook the banner. The workers, who were atop the 60-ft iron pole, wanted to come down and stop the work due to the weather.

    However, when they begun to climb down but before they could get down the pole became unstable and collapsed, falling on the workers.

    Succumbing to the violent crash, Kumar (40), Sekar (45) and Gunasekaran (52) died on the spot lying in a pool of blood. While Arunkumar (40) and Shanmugasundaram (35) are grievously injured, and are being treated at the Coimbatore Government Hospital where the deceased’s mortal remains are being examined.

    Under these circumstances, the Coimbatore police have booked 3 persons under IPC Section 304A (causing death by negligence). Of the three, the cops have arrested two and one is on the loose.

    Meanwhile, the local body authority is investigating the legality of erecting a banner in that particular location.

    Trailer collides with bus, three killed, 20 injured

    Ranchi (IANS) | Three people traveling in a passenger bus were killed, while around 20 people were injured in a road accident in Chutupalu valley of Ramgarh district on Ranchi-Patna road on Tuesday morning. It was told that the bus was coming from Bakhtiyarpur in Bihar to Ranchi. Meanwhile, the brake of the trailer coming from Ranchi on the second lane failed, due to which the trailer became uncontrollable. Uncontrolled trailer broke the divider and hit the bus going to Ranchi from the other lane.

    Both the bus and the trailer overturned. Many people got buried under the vehicles.

    The local people and the police team took everyone out. Three people died on the spot. There is also a policeman among them, who was traveling on the bus.

    Due to the road accident, one lane of Ranchi-Ramgarh was blocked for hours. Police sent all the three bodies for postmortem. With the help of the local people, the injured have been admitted to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital.

    Three including a toddler lost their lives on Monday morning when a truck lost control and rammed into them while they were on a stroll at Vazhakulam near here, police said.

    Koovelipodi residents Mary (60), her neighbour Prajesh (36) and his one-and-a-half year old daughter Alna were hit by a truck used by a parcel company.

    The driver, who suffered minor injuries, has been taken into custody, police said.

    Three killed, two injured after earthmover fell on a car

    Nizamabad: In an unfortunate incident, three persons were killed and two others were injured when an earthmover turned over onto a car in Bhingal area of the district on Wednesday morning. The victims were identified as residents of Morthad in the district.

    According to the sources, the earthmover driver reportedly lost control and crashed into the car killing three persons traveling in it on the spot. People who witnessed the accident informed the police who pulled the two trapped in the car out and shifted them to the hospital.

    A case has been registered and investigation is underway.

    Similarly, a man died after a car rammed into a truck at Rajendranagar on Tuesday night.

    The victim R Siddu, a native of Karnataka was going in the car on Outer Ring Road from Gachibowli to Shamshabad when he rammed his car into a truck ahead of his vehicle.

    “The man sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. Apparently, he was driving at a high speed and could not control his vehicle ,” said Rajendranagar police.

    A case is registered and investigation on. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital mortuary.

    Three persons were killed and two others injured in three separate accidents in Himachal Pradesh, police said on Tuesday. The accidents took place in Sirmaur, Shimla and Mandi districts, they said. Shubham Kumar, hailing from Poanta Sahib, was killed when his vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Shandi in Nahan late on Monday night. Umesh Kumar was killed in Mandi district, while Kundan Singh of Chayali village in Chopal was killed in Shimla district.
