    Thunderstorm, Lightning & Gusty Wind In 6 Odisha Districts Including Bhubaneswar-Cuttack By 7.30 PM Today

    Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a nowcast warning with yellow mesage for six districts of Odisha including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities on Friday.

    As per the warning, light to moderate rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may hit some parts of Nayagarh, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Puri districts by 7.30 pm today.

    People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike.

    The MeT Centre has also issued warning about light to moderate thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain for some parts of districts of Nayagarh, Nuapada, Kandhamal and Mayurbhanj districts by 6 pm today.

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha will continue to experience nor’wester rain with thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at some places till Friday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.

    Yellow warning has been issued for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurda, Gajapati and Ganjam till 8.30 am tomorrow. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Nayagarh and Kandhamal during this period. There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain at a few places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal and at one or two places in Sundargarh, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

    Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj and Balasore in the subsequent 24 hours. Rain may continue in coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

    There is also yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning for one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur on Saturday. Light to moderate rain is also likely to occur at one or two places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput on this day.

    It will continue to rain in some southern and coastal areas for another 2 days.

    The MeT office further said there will be no large change in the day temperature at many places in the state during the next 5 days. “The mercury will soar to 42oC or more at a few places in interior Odisha – Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda and Nuapada,” it said.

    People have been advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm.

    At least 22 places in the state recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or above on Wednesday. Both Sonepur and Angul turned out to be the hottest places in the state with day temperature of 44.1 degree Celsius.

    Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for some places in five districts of Odisha till 4.30 pm on Friday.

    Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain is likely in some parts of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurda and Puri during the next 3 hours.

    Thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain is also like in Mayurbhanj and Balasore during this period.

    People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strike.

    Notably, the Met office had issued orange warning for thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph for one or two places in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam. Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal till 8.30 am on Saturday.

    Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Boudh, Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj during this period.

    Light to moderate rain is likely at many places in South interior Odisha and at a few places in the remaining parts of the state, it added.

    Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Monday have issued thunderstorm and lightning warning along with rain including twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in the next three hours.

    The centre issued Orange warning for the districts of Khordha,Cuttack, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput are likely to experience gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph along with lightning and intense spell of rain within next three hours.

    Under its impact, Lightning strike expected in the affected area and water logging in low lying area is likely. People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike, movement may be avoided in the water logging area.

    Meanwhile, Yellow warning have been issued for seven districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Nabrangpur, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar during the next three hours.

    People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike.
