    Under-Trial Prisoner Attacked By Inmates In Tihar Jail

    An undertrial prisoner lodged in Tihar jail here was injured after he was allegedly attacked by other inmates with an improvised knife and handmade tool on Monday, officials said.

    The incident took place at 12.38 pm inside Central Jail no 1 at the Tihar prison complex, they said. According to the officials, the inmates attacked Rahul alias Pawan with an improvised knife, handmade sua, and a tile. One of the attackers, undertrial prisoner Alok alias Vishal, also inflicted self-injuries, they said.

    Soon the jail staff, Tamil Nadu Special Police, and a Quick Response Team intervened and the inmates involved in the incident were separated immediately, he said.

    “After giving primary medical aid at the jail dispensary, both the injured were moved to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for further medical treatment,” the jail official said.

    They have also intimated about the incident to Hari Nagar police station asking them to lodge an FIR and take further legal action in the matter.

    Delhi : A 29-year-old under-trial inmate died by suicide in Delhi’s Tihar jail on Friday morning – the second such incident in five days. According to officials, the inmate – identified as Raja alias Mahawar – was found hanging in the common bathroom of Ward-6 of Central Jail number 4. He was declared dead by the on-duty doctor of the jail at 11:53 am.
    Mahawar was facing trial under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act.

    Officials said that the concerned authorities have been informed for taking further necessary action.

    In a similar incident on May 23, a 26-year-old inmate of the Tihar central jail allegedly died by suicide within hours after he was convicted by a Delhi court in a robbery case. The inmate – identified as Jawed – was produced before the court on Monday, and was later found hanging in a jail bathroom.

    According to the director general (prisons) Sanjay Baniwal, Jawed hanged himself from a tap in the bathroom with the help of a cloth at around 5 pm. “The staff later took him to the jail hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead,” he said.

    Delhi: Seven personnel of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TNSP), who were on duty at a Tihar prison cell when gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was stabbed to death, have been suspended and will be sent back to Tamil Nadu for allegedly standing as mute spectators at the time of the incident, jail officials said on Sunday.

    The development comes days after Director General of Delhi Prisons Sanjay Beniwal wrote to the Tamil Nadu Police asking them to take action against its personnel.
    A meeting was also conducted with officials of the TNSP regarding the alleged negligence on part of their personnel during which they had assured to take departmental action against their personnel, a jail official had said.

    “The Tamil Nadu Police has now suspended seven of its personnel and called them back,” a jail official said.

    The TNSP personnel were deployed at cell number eight where the incident took place, the officials said.

    The TNSP provides security on the Tihar jail premises.
    A CCTV video from Tihar Jail which emerged on social media purportedly showed Tajpuriya being attacked in front of security personnel as well when they were carrying him away after he was stabbed.

They were currently locked on the first floor of the same ward while Tillu was on the ground floor. According to jail officials, the attack took place at 6:15 am. They broke the iron grill, sharpened it and attacked. Tillu was killed in the attack while Rohit, an inmate, was badly injured. Tillu Tajpuria has 11 cases registered in which 3 cases are of murder. In 2018, MCOCA was also imposed on Tillu Tajpuria and his gang members.
    He was also associated with Neeraj Bawana, Sunil Rathi gang. Tillu was in jail since 2016, he was arrested in 2016 by Sonipat police from Rohtak on charges of a murder. Tillu was a resident of Tajpur village in outer Delhi, his father worked in the MCD. Tillu and Gogi were good friends in both the college, then there was enmity between the two regarding elections and politics in the college. Tillu came into the world of crime in 2008 and then many people were killed in the gang war between the two gangs. In 2021, inside the Rohini courtroom, Tillu got Jitendra Gogi murdered by his goons dressed as lawyers. At that time, Delhi Police had killed 2 of his henchmen in the court room. Recently, Delhi Police had brought gangster Deepak Boxer of Jitendra Gogi gang from Mexico. A few days back, gangster Prince Tewatia was murdered in Tihar Jail.
