    Fire broke out near Tirupati’s Govindaraja Swamy temple, loss of about one crore

    Tirupati (IANS) | A massive fire broke out in a building near Govindaraja Swamy Temple in Tirupati on Friday. There is no news of any casualty in this incident. But, locals say that three people are feared trapped in the fire. On information, four fire tenders rushed to the spot and engaged in efforts to stop the fire from spreading towards Govindaraja Swamy Temple Ratham.

    Police said that the fire broke out at Lavanya Photo Frame Works adjacent to the famous temple. The flames engulfed the entire building, causing panic in the busy area around the temple.

    According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out in a photo frame shop located on one of the floors of the five-storey building. The shop workers and other people in the building escaped safely. Five two-wheelers parked in front of the building also caught fire.

    Tirupati: The sudden burst of heavy rain accompanied with strong gales panicked the residents in the pilgrim city on Sunday afternoon. The heavy rain lashed out for over an hour while the spells continued for another 2-3 hours in different parts of the city inundating several low-lying areas causing severe inconvenience to people. Several roads were flooded with rainwater and causing severe traffic disruptions.

    Several temporary sheds were blown out and many trees uprooted. Gusty winds and intermittent lightning panicked the denizens and the power supply was disrupted for over five hours at different places in the city and the surrounding areas. The city witnessed a similar situation on May 25 in which several electric poles were damaged and felldown. Power disruptions were caused especially in those areas again.

    At Subba Reddy Nagar of Tirupati rural mandal, an electric pole fell across the road damaging a car. Another car got damaged at DR Mahal road with a big tree uprooted and fell on it. Causing traffic disruptions, two more big trees were uprooted at Korlagunta on Tirumala bypass road. At Korameenugunta, the heavy rain accompanied by gales wreaked havoc with more than 20 temporary shelters with iron sheets collapsed. The denizens were looking for the government staff for rescue operations.

    Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board organizes cycle rally in Tirupati

    Tirupati : As part of implementing the action plan of mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), an India led global mass movement, AP Pollution Control Board Regional office, Tirupati organised a cycle rally in the city on Saturday. The movement was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP 26 in Glasgow on November 1, 2021 November 2021 for mindful and deliberate utilisation, instead of mindless and destructive consumption to protect and preserve the environment.

    It aims to nudge individuals and communities to practice a lifestyle that is synchronous with nature and designed with the objective to mobilise at least one billion Indians and other global citizens to take individual and collective action for protecting and conserving the environment in the period 2022-28. As part of it, a cycle rally was held from Tarakarama stadium to Nehru Municipal ground via town club junction in which students, V bike club representatives, representatives from industries and denizens took part to mark the World Environment Day on Saturday.

    It was flagged off by the Environmental Engineer A Narendra Babu while Vikas Singh of NARL, Gadanki took part as chief guest. Assistant Environmental Engineers V Madan Mohan Reddy, PV Kishore Reddy, M Sasikala, R Kumar and staff participated.
