Members with vested interests obstructing work: HSGMC chief

A day after being accused of running a one-man show, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) ad hoc chief Mahant Karamjit Singh today said some members with vested interests were trying to obstruct the functioning of the committee.
He criticized former HSGMC chief Baljit Singh Daduwal and former vice-chairman Didar Singh Nalvi for misleading the Sikh community and demanding a dope test of the current chief.
Karamjit Singh said, ‘They were trying to make an issue out of nothing. It is not my fault that they have not been given power. We are doing our work as per the rules and powers laid down in the HSGMC Act, but some members want to take control of the administrative work in the gurdwaras to take advantage.”
“We have a new committee. In order to run the offices and ensure the smooth management of the Gurdwaras, we are bound to make transfers to take decisions and monitor its functioning. But some members started opposing the transfers and instigated other employees also against it.
HSGMC general secretary Gurvinder Singh Dhamija said, “False information was spread about shortage of ration at Gurdwara Nada Sahib, but when we checked the records, sufficient ration was found in the store. Daduwal, Ramneek Singh Mann and Vinar Singh are adopting cheap tactics to defame the committee.
Daduwal, however, countered that they were violating the HSGMC Act and Sikh ‘maryada’, and challenged them to get their tests done. Meanwhile, some members of HSGMC held a meeting in Ambala city to discuss the issues.
Ramnik Singh Mann said, ‘The allegations of embezzlement are baseless. Everything is on record. Instead of washing dirty linen in public, they should call a common house meeting and discuss the issues there.”
