    TTD to build new temple in Chennai, welcomes donations

    CHENNAI: Considering the congestion and convenience of devotees, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has decided to revive its temple in Thiyagaraya Nagar, Chennai within three years. Addressing the press persons, AJ Sekhar, President of the Local Advisory Committee of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Tuesday said that, the TTD has decided to revive the Venkateswara Temple which is situated at Venkata Narayana Road, T Nagar, Chennai for the benefit of devotees.

    “Up to 10,000 devotees are visiting the temple every day. The devotees demanded a renovation of the T Nagar temple like the Tirupati temple. For this, the devasthanam purchased 3 lands near the temple worth Rs 14 crore. We have been asking for a donation from the devotees to the purchase of land for the temple renovation. So far, seven people including AC Shanmugam, J Murugesan,, KS Jayaraman, Ishari K Ganesh, and Access Health Care Group have donated Rs 7.60 crore. We will accept even Rs 1 as a donation,” he added.

    Explaining about the renovation work, AJ Sekhar said that the renovation work will commence within six months and it will take three years to complete.

    “The temple will be built with only stones and without cement. The TTD will take care of the entire cost of the temple construction. The new temple will have a wedding hall for poor people and a separate walkway for the differently abled. Until the construction work is complete, alternate arrangements will be made to the devotees for a Darshan. Apart from this, the devasthanam will build a wedding hall in Royapettah for the benefit of poor people,” he added.

    The donors/devotees who are willing to donate are requested to deposit in the name of “The Executive Officer, TT Devasthanams, Tirupati, and mention the SV Bhudanam Scheme, TTD, Chennai.” AC Shanmugam, Ishari K Ganesh, and others were present at the occasion.

    Tirupati : TTD has presented Sare to Goddess Gangamma on the occasion of the ongoing Jatara on Saturday evening. The Goddess is considered to be the sister of Lord Venkateswara and Lord Govindaraja Swamy. Accordingly, the TTD officials brought Sare from the birthplace of the Goddess. JEO V Veerabrahmam, MLA Bhumana Karunkar Reddy and others accompanied the Sare from Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati to Gangamma Devasthanam in a procession.

    While the procession was proceeding before their houses, the denizens poured turmeric water and offered Harathi and coconuts to the Sare. Earlier special puja rituals were also performed to the Sare at Govindaraja Swamy temple.

    At Gangamma temple, chairman K Gopi Yadav, EO Munikrishnaiah received the TTD team and made darshan arrangements. Mayor Sirisha, Deputy Mayor B Abhinay Reddy and others were present.

    Tirupati : In a significant development in the six day-old Sulabh workers strike, the TTD decided to cancel its contract with Sulabh agency under which 3,600 workers were engaged in various departments in TTD at Tirumala.

    According to Chandragiri MLA, TUDA Chairman and TTD trust boardEx-officio member Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, the workers working under Sulabh will be absorbed in any one of the six firms and will get same salary and benefits like PF, ESI and Brahmotsava Bahumanam on par with other contract workers under various private agencies supplying manpower to the TTD. Reddy on Saturday held a meeting with the striking workers who were camping at Vinayaka Nagar staff quarters ground here after discussing the workers demands with TTD senior officials including the health officer concerned Sridevi.

    Later speaking to the media on Saturday night, Bhaskar Reddy said that due the Sulabh workers strike since Monday, the TTD is facing difficulties in maintaining sanitation at Tirumala where more than lakh pilgrims arrive daily for darshan.

    The contract with the Sulabh company will be cancelled and the work the agency is undertaking will be handed over to 6 new contractors, he said, informing that he and Tirupati city MLA Karunakar Reddy discussed the workers’ strike issue with the TTD management to end the strike.

    Reddy said he also discussed the striking workers demands with EO Dharma Reddy who he said agreed to absorb workers with Sulabh in other contract agencies after the cancellation of the Sulabh contract. on humanitarian grounds and also keeping in view that they have been working for about 20 years in Tirumala. The demands will be placed in the trust board meeting for approval to provide them the salary equal to other contract workers, weekly off, PF, ESI and other facilities.

    The workers thanked Reddy for his initiative to do justice to them. Meanwhile, leaders of the striking workers said the workers will discuss the assurances of Chevireddy and will take a decision onwithdrawing the strike.

    TTD resumes issuing Divya Darshan tokens

    Tirumala: TTD on Saturday resumed issuing Divya Darshan tokens at Alipiri and Srivarimettu footpath routes on a trial basis.At Alipiri footpath route, per day 10,000 tokens will be issued at Galigopuram and in the Srivarimettu footpath route, every day 5000 tokens will be issued at 1,250th step. The tokens will be issued to the devotees in person based on their Aadhaar ID proof only to the pilgrims on foot reaching Tirumala for darshan. It may be mentioned here that TTD stopped Divya Darshan tokens almost three years ago due to Covid Pandemic. Upon the request from devotees, TTD has resumed Divya Darshan tokens as a token of gesture to the pedestrian pilgrims to Tirumala, on an experimental basis.
