How can I seek trust vote from traitors: Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai (IANS) | Soon after the Supreme Court’s verdict, former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday asked how he could seek a vote of confidence from “traitors who betrayed us”. On the Supreme Court’s remark that if the then chief minister had not resigned, the court could have reinstated him, Thackeray said, “May be my decision was wrong, but how can I ask for the vote of confidence of the one who gave me cheated?

However, the Supreme Court has made strong remarks on the manner in which his government was brought down, including the role of the Governor.

Thackeray has also demanded that if there is any morality left in the current government of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde after the Supreme Court verdict, it should resign immediately, as I did.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) president said they would now urge Speaker Rahul Narvekar to take up the matter of disqualification of the 16 MLAs, including Shinde, and take a decision on priority.

‘Doesn’t know what is Hindutva’: Uddhav Thackeray makes all-out attack on BJP

Jalgaon: In a strong, no-holds-barred attack, Shiv Sena-UBT President Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that ruling Bharatiya Janata Party “doesn’t know what is Hindutva”.

“Hindutva is not a matter of selfishness, but a nationalist. The BJP doesn’t understand what Hindutva is. Their Hindutva is centred around cow and gomutra (cow-urine). Cow slaughter is banned in one state but not in others… This is their Hindutva,” said Thackeray, as the BJP fights the Karnataka elections on its pet-theme.

Addressing a massive rally in Pachora, Jalgaon this evening, Thackeray denied the charge that he had left Hindutva, saying that after he took the oath as Chief Minister in November 2019, all religions were treated equally.

“I have gone with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)… I have not left Hindutva and will never leave it… show me one instance which made you feel that I had discarded Hindutva,” he asked.

Targetting the BJP, he said that “crushing other people and parties” with the support of central investigating agencies or letting loose goons to attack women leaders of opposing political parties “is not our Hindutva”.

“People ask me – is the BJP a challenge before us? I say the BJP is not a challenge. The real challenge before us is how shall we undo the damage that the BJP is inflicting on the country,” he asserted.

Delhi HC summons Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya, Sanjay Raut in defamation case by Shiv Sena MP

Uddhav Thackeray, son Aaditya Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut were on Tuesday, March 28, issued summons by the Delhi High Court in a defamation suit filed by Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale, a close aide of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. According to the plaintiff, Uddhav and the two others named above made frivolous allegations against Shiv Sena and its members. As per the allegations, the Thackerays and Raut said the Eknath Shinde faction bought the Shiv Sena symbol for ₹2000 crore.

The suit filed by Shewale was heard by the Bench of Justice Prateek Jalan of the Delhi High Court. The court admitted the suit after hearing the arguments from Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, who appeared for the plaintiff. It also directed them to answer all material questions. The defendants were also asked to file responses to the interim applications.

    Request for an injunction order
Shewale’s lawyer pleaded with the court to pass an injunction order which would bar Raut and others from making any further comments, which may allegedly amount to defamation. However, the court said it would wait for the responses from the parties and then pass an order.

Moreover, the court asked Google, Twitter, Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut to file the responses within 30 days on the suit.

Sanjay Raut had on February 19, 2023, made some remarks against the Maharashtra Chief Minister during a press conference and a case was filed by a Shiv Sena leader against Raut in Nashik in connection with the same. As per the complaint, Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha MP of Shiv Sena (UBT), had alleged that a “deal of ₹ 2000 crore” had taken place to “purchase” the Shiv Sena party name and its ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.

The statement was made days after the Election Commission of India allotted the ‘bow and arrow’ symbol to the Eknath Shinde faction and recognised it as the original Shiv Sena.
