    Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday virtually participated in the meeting organized under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding drug trafficking and national security. Governors, Lieutenant Governors and Chief Ministers of various states and union territories were present in the meeting. Expressing gratitude to the Union Home Minister for organizing the meeting on this very important subject, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Government of India is working strictly against drug trafficking and its fruitful results are also being seen continuously. Are. The state government is also making effective efforts to stop drug trafficking in Uttarakhand and destroy its system. A target has been set to make Uttarakhand drug free by 2025, for this work is being done at every level with a plan.
    The Chief Minister said that while on one hand awareness is being increased among the people and especially the youth against drugs, on the other hand strict action is being taken against the criminals involved in drug trafficking. So far this year, ND 586 cases have been registered under PS Act, in which 742 accused have been arrested. A three-tier Anti-Narcotics Task Force has been constituted in the state of Uttarakhand in the year 2022 for drug prevention and effective action in this regard. The State Government has approved the Mental Health Manual in Uttarakhand. De-addiction centers are being made effective in all the districts of the state to prevent drug addiction and to connect drug addicts with the mainstream and for rehabilitation. Counseling and seminars are also being organized specially in the jails of Uttarakhand to make the prisoners free from drugs.
    The Chief Minister said that at present four Integrated Rehabilitation Centers for Addicts are operational in the state. Addiction treatment facility is also being operated in the state with the help of AIIMS New Delhi and currently 10 beds are functional in AIIMS Rishikesh. Approval has been given by the Central Government for the operation of ATF in Uttarkashi, Champawat, Almora and Srinagar. He also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation being given by the Central Government to Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that anti-drug club committees have been formed in educational institutions operating in every district of the state, in which aware students, parents, teachers and principals of the institution have been included as members. On the occasion of World Anti-Drug Day, the state government administered ‘Anti-Drug E-pledge’ to 01 lakh 25 thousand youth. A proposal has been sent to NCERT by the Government of Uttarakhand to include the subject of drugs in the syllabus from class 06 to class 12. Helpline numbers have also been issued for drug prevention and information regarding it and for any kind of help to the general public and these are also being disseminated.

He said that due to the kind of work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country, the kind of work culture he has created, all parties now want to associate with BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    Pushkar Singh Dhami said that people are associated with BJP in many states of the country, where BJP was not there, BJP has come (to power) and the same has happened in Maharashtra. Responding to a question regarding the Uniform Civil Code, he said that now it is being discussed loudly in the country, everyone is keeping his point. Draft on Uniform Civil Code is being prepared in Uttarakhand. The draft making committee has consulted people from all sections of the society and taken their opinion.

    During the Delhi tour, Uttarakhand CM Dhami met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and sought help from the Central Government on several projects related to Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to finance an amount of Rs. 1774 crore for Saung Dam drinking water project under special assistance from the Government of India. The Chief Minister also requested the Union Finance Minister to remove the ceiling imposed on the loan amount of externally aided projects in view of the special circumstances and limited financial resources of Uttarakhand.

    He said that the Saung Dam drinking water project would meet the increasing demand of drinking water for the growing population of Dehradun. This will almost end the dependence on tube wells for drinking water system, will help in flood control and along with the construction of a 3.5 km long lake, tourism will also be promoted and people’s income will also increase.

    The Chief Minister said that all necessary technical, forest land transfer stage-1 and other necessary approvals related to the project have been obtained from the concerned departments and ministries. For the rehabilitation and resettlement of those affected by the project, the expenditure of Rs 247 crore will be borne by the state government.

    Dhami requested the Union Finance Minister to finance the remaining amount of Rs 1774 crore for the project under special assistance from the Government of India in view of the limited financial resources of the State Government.

    CM Dhami said that along with undergrounding of power lines in the main roads of Dehradun under ADB, the work of strengthening the state’s transmission system, which includes construction of power substations and lines, is to be done soon.

    The Chief Minister requested the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India to approve the above scheme. On this, the Union Finance Minister asked to send a proposal for revaluation so that advance action could be taken. Dhami claimed that Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has assured him of all possible cooperation.

    Dehradun (IANS). The draft of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code has been prepared by the expert committee. The committee announced during a press conference in Delhi that the draft has been prepared and will be submitted to the state government soon. The committee has prepared the draft on the basis of 2 lakh 31 thousand suggestions.

    Justice (retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai, chairperson of the committee, held a press conference after the Uniform Civil Code was drafted for Uttarakhand. Ranjana Desai said that the Law Commission is already considering working on this issue. The report of the expert committee along with the draft code will be printed soon and submitted to the Uttarakhand government.

    Custom practice in Uttarakhand has also been given a place in it. Most importantly, the committee has also studied the practice being followed in different states of the country. Similarly, there are laws like this in foreign countries, that was also studied.

    Justice Ranjana Desai said that the committee has taken the opinion of politicians, ministers, legislators and general public of Uttarakhand. Only after that the draft of the Uniform Civil Code has been prepared.

    Earlier on June 2, Justice Ranjana Desai and members of the committee that drafted the UCC for Uttarakhand had met Law Commission Chairman Justice (Retd) Rituraj Awasthi and members KT Sankaran, Anand Paliwal and DP Verma. At that time Justice Ranjana Desai had said that the Law Commission is considering working on this issue. The subcommittee itself held 143 meetings in the state. The committee held 63 meetings, 20,000 people have also been met. And, their suggestions have been taken.

    Please tell that on May 27, 2022, the state government had issued a notification for the formation of the committee. On June 30, 2023, the committee has completed the work of making the draft. The state government will get the draft soon. As you are aware, the Government had constituted an Expert Committee to examine the various existing laws regulating personal civil affairs of the residents of Uttarakhand.

    The notification in this regard was issued on 27th May 2022 and the terms of reference were notified on 10th June 2022. The first meeting of the committee was held on 4 July 2022. Since then the committee has met 63 times. A sub-committee was constituted last year to elicit public opinion by inviting written submissions as well as organizing public dialogue programmes. The sub-committee started its public outreach program from the border tribal village Mana and visited 40 different places covering all the districts of the state, culminating in a public discussion on 14 June 2023 in Delhi.

    Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami says that the committee, taking the draft of the UCC, went among the people and worked for more than a year. The committee spoke to more than 2 lakh people, several stakeholders, organizations and intellectuals. The draft will be received by the government soon. After this the government will take further action. The state also has the support of the central government.

    In fact, in Gularbhoj of Udham Singh Nagar, the police busted a fake country liquor factory running in a house in Roshanpur village. Police arrested six accused involved in making and supplying liquor. Among them three are real brothers and two are married. The leader of this gang is absconding.

    The police had recovered a large quantity of country liquor, chemicals and equipment used in making liquor. The team recovered from the spot empty pavva lids, chits written by Bajpur Gulab, Uttarakhand Government Uttarakhand Excise along with chemicals used in making liquor, equipment, 6 cases of liquor filled in Honda City car UP 16J-8968.

    Along with this, the team also seized eight drums of liquor making chemicals from the godown located at Kundeshwari Kashipur. The accused said that they work for Sukhbinder Singh alias Sonu, resident of Beriya Dolat Kelakheda. Illegal country liquor is made and taken to sell in the mountainous areas of Kumaon.

    In this case, a case has been registered against the accused under Section 60/60(2)/12 Excise Act. Told that absconding Sukhbinder is being searched.

    Dehradun (IANS). There is a possibility of heavy rains in seven hilly districts of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain with thunder at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Tehri, Pauri, Dehradun, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.

    In other districts, there is a possibility of lightning and several rounds of heavy rain. Apart from this, the department has expressed the possibility of blocking of roads and highways at some places due to mild to moderate landslides and rock fall in sensitive areas.

    Actually, the process of heavy rain is going on across the state. In view of the bad weather, SDRF personnel have been put on high alert. While rescue teams have been deployed at 36 sensitive places.

    In view of the active monsoon in the state, a meeting was organized at SDRF Headquarters Jollygrant to deal with the emergency, in which SDRF jawans were instructed to remain on high alert.

    Commander Manikant Mishra said that 36 rescue teams have been deployed in all the sensitive areas of the state. Giving necessary instructions to the jawans posted at SDRF posts, he said that in view of the monsoon, there are strong possibilities of incidents like floods, landslides, cloud bursts etc. have to give .

    The commander also instructed the control room to remain on alert mode and exchange information by keeping in touch with the State Disaster Operation Center located at the Dehradun Secretariat. Also directed to work equipped with state-of-the-art rescue equipment like underwater drone, sonar system, remotely operated lifebuoy, scuba diving set, diving communication set, speed motor boat, raft, cold water rescue suit.

    During this, the jawans were trained in weather forecasting, advance rafting training, kayaking course, OBM maintenance course, installation of signboards to warn of danger by marking vulnerable places for landslides / storm drains, etc.

    Dehradun. The third G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting under G20 Indian Presidency is scheduled to take place in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, from 26th to 28th June 2023. Total 63 delegates from G20 member countries, invitee countries, and international organisations will participate in the meeting to further the discussions on the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda under the Indian G20 Presidency and follow up on the discussions held during the second IWG meeting held in March 2023 in Visakhapatnam.
    The G20 Infrastructure Working Group deliberates on various aspects of infrastructure investments, including developing infrastructure as an asset class, promoting quality infrastructure investment, and identifying innovative instruments for mobilizing financial resources for infrastructure investment. The outcomes of the Infrastructure Working Group feed into the G20 Finance Track priorities and promote Infrastructure Development.

    In the third IWG meeting, substantive progress will be discussed towards the various workstreams of the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda. The flagship priority to be discussed in this meeting is “Financing Cities of Tomorrow: Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable”, along with other priorities.
    During the three-day meetings, various official meetings and cultural programmes have been planned for the delegates. In addition to the formal discussions, the delegates will experience Rishikesh’s rich culture and beautiful landscapes. The Presidency has also arranged an excursion for the delegates on the afternoon of 28th June.

    On the sidelines of the IWG meetings, two side events have also been planned. On 26th June, the “High-Level Seminar on Roadmap to Sustainable Cities” is being organized in partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The discussions across the three sessions will allow G20 decision-makers to hear key challenges, from climate change to infrastructure resiliency, fast urbanization, and inclusiveness, along with exploring the role of technology, Infratech and digitization. The delegates will also learn from a unique perspective in launching one of the world’s most ambitious new city developmentNUSANTARA in Indonesia. Many International and national experts are joining the discussion.

    On 27th June, “A Roundtable on Making India an MRO Hub” is scheduled with an agenda to discuss opportunities that India has to offer in the MRO space.

    The delegates will also be hosted for “Ratri Bhoj Par Samvad’ (Conversation over Dinner) to provide an opportunity to enjoy the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand and relish the local cuisines.     UCC draft may come soon in Uttarakhand

    Dehradun (IANS) | A big resolution of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is going to be proved in Uttarakhand. In the next few days, the situation regarding the Uniform Civil Code will become clear. Chief Minister Dhami has already given a clear indication that the draft UCC may come before the public by the last week of June. As Chief Minister, Dhami had promised to implement Uniform Civil Code in the state in the month of March last year. After which, in the first cabinet meeting after coming to the government, the Dhami government formed a committee on UCC. Since then this topic has become a topic of discussion in the whole country.

    Uniform Civil Code means one law for all religions. It will cover a wide range of topics including marriage, divorce, property and adoption. Even if some people consider it a political issue and give a political twist, but from all the High Courts (especially the Delhi High Court) to the Supreme Court, they are in favor of implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the country. The Supreme Court has asked the present Central Government about the efforts made so far in this regard, in which the Central Government has said that opinion has been sought from the Law Commission of India.

    The draft committee constituted by the Dhami government under the chairmanship of retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai has interacted with the major stakeholders of every class, every community, every caste in the state. Here Chief Minister Dhami’s stand regarding Uniform Civil Code is clear.

    The BJP’s 2019 election manifesto had promised to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Therefore, it is hoped that as soon as it is implemented in Uttarakhand, it can be implemented across the country as well. If Dhami succeeds in this, then his image will become special at the national level as well and the law of public interest will also be implemented.
